Oak Cottage Reviews

Michael
Sometimes a few words say much more than a hundred. Perfection was personified by Oak Cottage for our Xmas stay. The presents under the tree were a lovely personal gesture as well
Louise
Fabulous House in a gorgeous peaceful location. The house is very spacious and fully equipped for that home from home feel, spotlessly clean & comfortable. The owner left a lovely welcome pack of Bread, Biscuits, Jam, Butter, Milk which was very kind & appreciated. The window seat in the lounge is a must to sit in as the views are gorgeous and if you are up for a walk out of the estate it's just under 4 miles to Cartmel which was beautiful seeing the horses in the fields along the way. Some of our party used the Hot Tub outside which again was very clean and towels were available for use when using the Hot Tub. Would highly recommend staying at Oak Cottage we will definitely go back at some point as location is ideal as a base to explore all areas of the Lakes.
A stunning cottage with ample room for a large group. We stayed for a family staycation and it was brilliant for all of us. Each room either has an ensuite or its own bathroom which is brilliant for a large group. The dining table and seating areas are really great. Would definitely visit again.
Barbara
Fantastic cottage. We took our family to celebrate our Golden Wedding Anniversary. Had an excellent weekend which gave us lots of memories we will treasure forever. Cottage very big with lots of space, very clean and the hamper that was left for us on arrival was a lovely gesture contained Eggs, bread, marmalade, Jam with butter and milk in the fridge. Recommend The Black Labrador Pub for a meal a little drive to get to this pub but well worth it. Hope to see you again. Cant praise this cottage enough.

Oak Cottage is a lovely place to stay. The setting is beautiful with the Tarn easily accessible to walk round. The property itself is beautiful and absolutely perfect for a large family and friends stay. The living area is huge with comfy seating a large dining table and a well equipped kitchen. All the bedrooms have very comfortable beds and the bathrooms are of a high standard. The owners were really friendly and helpful. This is an ideal place to stay with the attractions of the Lakes only a few miles away. We will definitely return!
Oak cottage is fantastic. This is the second time weve stayed here as two families. There is so much space and the views are amazing. We enjoyed walks, visiting Fell Foot park and a boat trip from Bowness.
Gillian
A gorgeous property. Very comfortably housed 10 adults. Lovely and clean and very warm. Fully equipped kitchen with plenty of glasses, cups and crockery. Located in beautiful peaceful surroundings. Outdoor furniture, hot tub and hot tub towels a bonus.
Joanne
Beautiful place to stay.
Fantastic in all areas! Lindsay was a star! Helpful, informative and attentive, we will highly recommend and shall return
Had an amazing time having a reunion of university friends, couldnt have asked for a better property to host a fabulous weekend.
Oak cottage was a fantastic base for a very beautiful part of the world. The photos dont do the size of the property justice it really is beautiful and the space means that even large families always feel like they have their own space. In summer, the outdoor space will just provide so much more. Lynsey is such a good host and took questions before and during our stay. We couldnt recommend the cottage highly enough and will definitely look to return in future.
Michelle
We had the most wonderful stay, the property exceeded our expectations, it felt very luxurious and the hot tab was amazing with the most beautiful views. The property was very very warm we were advised the underfloor heating could be turned off We were grateful to be have been given a later check out as 9.30am is quite the push to have the property as requested by that time for such a large party. Would highly recommend and also look forward to retuning
This was a family holiday and we all enjoyed it very much. The small complimentary bath, shampoo, soap and welcome basket was a nice thought though there wasn't enough for 9 adults. The only thing that I didn't like was the very long drive up the country lane path in first gear.
Beautiful cottage with stunning views.
Lindsey
Fabulous property. Excellent facilities in a great setting. Everything we needed for a comfortable stay was provided. Attention to detail was excellent and the welcome basket was an added bonus. Would recommend this property to family and friends.
We had a wonderful stay, the house was so much better than we expected it to be. Would love to stay again
Claire
Stunning place with outstanding quality of fixtures and fittings. Lovely and warm in December and a fabulous hot tub. Made to feel very welcome with a Christmas tree for our festive break and gifts under the tree for everyone! We would love to come back one day and will definitely remember our 2021 Christmas at Biglands. Thank you
We had a wonderful time. The location and accommodation were fantastic, the hot tub was a real treat! We were able to have some nice walks in the area, straight from the front door and the evenings were spent in total comfort in a perfect setting. Thanks for a great break, we're all excited at the thought of returning soon.
Absolutely stunning cottage in a stunning location, couldn't have asked for anything more.
Angela
Superb cottage, well equippef and lovely furnishings. Great for a party of 10! Ideal location, great outdoor area and stunning views.
Kirsty
The cottage was perfect for our group of 10 family members getting together for my parents golden wedding anniversary. Very comfortable cottage which had all the facilities we needed. Lovely peaceful location. Would highly recommend!
We had a wonderful stay at Oak cottage. The location was perfect for us. The cottage was a bit warm for us during the hot weather we had we would have liked more fans due to the limited amount of windows to open safely in the property but once the weather cooled a little we managed ok. The rest of the facilities were excellent and we had everything we needed. The washing machine and tumble drier were especially useful with children. Altogether we had a great time thank you.
Christopher
Oak Cottage is situated in the countryside just outside Ulverston and is a good base for people looking to explore the South lakes. The cottage itself is beautiful and has everything you could possibly need to make for a perfect stay, they have literally thought of everything, and there is lots space, indoors and out, to relax. Due to it's beautiful countryside location there are no close by facilities, however, the Anglers Arms is about a 30 minute walk away and it's a decent place to stop off for a drink or a sandwich whilst exploring the local area. That said Ulverston is a 20 minute drive away and there are plenty of shops, restaurants, pubs etc and taxis are available locally. Haverthwaite railway is close by, 5 minutes drive, and gives you access to Lakeside aquarium or an onward boat trip to Bowness or Ambleside. Bowness, 30 minute drive, and Ambleside, 40 minute drive, are a must visit and there are plenty places to explore and eat and drink in both. A little further north is Grasmere and Rydal which offers some stunning walks for all abilities. Anyway enough of my ramblings. Oak Cottage is a stunning place to stay in beautiful surroundings and I highly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing stay and to explore the South lakes. Enjoy.
Frederick
The accommodation is stunning both in its location and comfort. Beautifully furnished and excellently equipped, we wanted for nothing during our stay. Lovely rooms, clean and spacious, a generous patio with comfortable outside furniture, and hot tub that was very popular with our grandchildren in particular. We had six in our party and did not feel constrained in any way as the configuration of rooms is effective and allows for both congregation and privacy. As custodians, Lynsey and Andrew were welcoming and responsive, although we had no need to call upon their services. Oak Cottage was worth every penny of our investment and we would return there without hesitation. Thank you.
Cheryse
Absolutely amazing location, the cottage was out of this world , so clean and we had everything we needed and so much more. The staff were so friendly and efficient especially with the time we are living in at the moment. Hot tub was amazing for me and my family to chill in and look at the stars. I hired this for my daughters 17th birthday and she loved it so much we are looking to book again next year.
Great cottage ,hosts attentive but not intrusive we were extremely lucky with ... Great cottage ,hosts attentive but not intrusive we were extremely lucky with weather wall to wall sunshine would certainly revisit
Angela
Fantastic location and accommodation, everything you could want. Will certainly book again
Kathryn
We usually have a villa holiday abroad with all the family but decided before lockdown to stay in this country. The lakes were amazing and as we are National trust card holders, we were able to book a number of outdoor activities. The weather was brilliant and everyone enjoyed our stay at Oak cottage.
Luxurious well equipped accommodation. Stunning views. Any issues dealt with promptly by very helpful staff. Added little touches that made us feel welcome
We went as a party of ten & everyone of us loved the cottage & its location. The facilities where really good especially with each bedroom having its own ensuite, the only negative was the kitchen.the cottage caters for ten people so we found the kitchen to be on the small side, but that saying it had all the appliances required & we would gladly return
The cottage is absolutely stunning. Beautifully furnished, spotlessly clean in a lovely area. Outside space great with lots of lovely furniture and a hot tub. Loved it.
Nicola
Immaculate property. Well appointed. Great welcome. Gorgeous scenery hot tub with a view. Would definitely book again.
Fantastic weekend. The cottage outweighed our expectations. Will definitely return.
Richard
We have stopped in many houses for our Easter family holidays, which are now with Grandchildren. Oak Cottage is up there with the best and a great location for access to South and West Lakes, easy access from the M6 too. With great weather we just enjoyed this excellent property and the hot tub for four days.
Yvonne
We stayed here with work whilst doing an adventure weekend on Lake Windermere with Mere Mountains and it was perfect for us to all relax together! A lovely house which we all loved. The hot tub was a great addition and we all loved it after a long day on the lake!
The cottage was incredible and the attention to detail by the owners was exceptional.
Gordon
Our large group of friends and family loved every minute of our stay at Oak Cottage, it was everything it promised to be and so much more. Our booking with Sykes was straightforward, our host was delightful and had ensured everything we needed was provided. This is a beautiful cottage in a wonderful location, carefully maintained and wonderfully presented. We loved every minute of our stay and will definitely be back! Thank you!
The cottage provided sheer luxury in a complete 'get away from it all' environment.
The description and pictures on the Sykes website no not do it justice.
