Nice house, great location, mostly clean & tidy, spacious, would definitely stay again Only bit of negative feedback is that we found the cleanliness of the ensuite bathrooms a bit poor, with black mold and limescale on the fittings
Sharon
Perfect location, lovely facilities, clean and comfortable. There was hot water but no heating so it was a little cold all weekend. Not the owners fault but worth noting we couldnt park near the property even with the parking pass so had to pay for both cars, 42 for 3 days, to stay in nearby carpark. This obviously doesnt guarantee a space if you leave the carpark and return later.
Robert
Table lamps in lounge require new bulbs. One slat missing in top bunk bed but this did not cause any problem.
Elizabeth
Amazing big house in the perfect location, huge park a few houses away for the dogs and kids to play. Short walk into windermere town centre and bownesslake windermere. Absolutely fabulous beautiful big old house. There were 10 of us and 2 dogs and the house was still huge. Lot of old things in the house that could do with being replaced and the cleanliness wasnt great especially for paying a 100 cleaning bill. Very dusty, musty smelling throughout and lots of spider webs with spiders. Main reason we couldnt use the basement was due to the webs and the smell. Didnt affect our holiday at all. As bought cleaning supplies anyway and cleaned as we went. This house was fab, just could do with a better clean before hand. Would 100 recommend and go back! Preferably if it was cleaned top to bottom. Thanks for a great stay!
Parkgate was perfect for us all. The children loved the cinema room and Xbox!! The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you would need. It was clean and cosy and we all loved it. Parking was never an issue. And a massive park a few yards away. Shops close by what more would you need!!

Really lovely stay in a very comfy and well equipped home! The kids loved the downstairs chill out area! Shower on the top floor doesnt drain quick enough but overall we cant fault the place and will definitely be looking to return in the future!! Thank you!
Its a lovely house. Plenty of room, good facilities, near the town. No complaints from us.
The house is fantastic, very warm and comfortable. We would definitely want to come back. Very small niggles. The shower in the master bedroom didn't drain properly and was overflowing onto the floor we reported thatand the cords on the blinds in the bedrooms were tangled. The location is perfect and the teenagers loved the cinema room downstairs. The kitchen is very well equipped too a wee pint of milk for arrival would be nice
Front garden is a mess. We stayed in May and feel the property needs a deep clean and some maintenance. Its a great property in a fantastic location but is a little tired. Fridge freezer bottom drawer is just full of ice oven grubby I had to clean inside of microwave before I could use it some of the towels had holes in lots of little things
Daniel
Excellent property with everything we needed for a week in The Lakes. Location was brilliant to discover all things Windermere and BownessOnWindermere. We cannot fault the place and will definitely be looking to book again next year.

We had a great stay at this fantastic house! Comfortable living room and well equipped kitchen. Great basement with snug for the kids, utility area with washer and dryer, fabulous Sauna with additional shower and toilet. Beautifully decorated Bedrooms, large and spacious with plenty of storage. Bathrooms are beautifully decorated and everyone loved the jacuzzi bath! Small conservatory at the back of the property and garden area is small but nice to sit in with a drink if you get the sunshine! Overall a fantastic stay for our family of adults and children. 5 min walk into Windermere and 2025 min walk into Bowness
Belinda
Hi The house was lovely and worked really well for us. It is in a great location. The only problem was the jackdaws that are nesting on the roof. They are extremely noisy in the evening and morning. One night they started making lots of noise at 11.30pm and didnt stop.
Shame about the very untidy front and back garden as the rest of the property was fab great location comfy beds spacious. Also in the info before you book it says parking for 2 cars thats not true. Definitely only 8 adults the bunks are very small

Great stay. We had 9 people.Parked 3 cars on the nearby streets no problem. Location is spot on! The house is spacious and the facilities are great the sauna is spot on! The only problem we ran into is that its advertised as 10 adults however the bunk beds are small and are for children.
Fantastic property with all the amenities anyone could need. Our family throughly enjoyed our time here.
The location and size of property was excellent and the extent of games was a hit with the children however the cleanliness of the property let it down. Upon arrival we found hairs in each shower tray, a dead fly in the top floor bath, tooth paste down the top floor sink, undusted skirting boards and prepared food from a previous guest still in the freezer. It really wasnt what we expected for the price we paid for three nights away 1200! The blinds in the living room and first floor front bedroom didnt work properly and some lamps didnt work. More care and attention from both a cleaning and maintenance point of view is needed. This house could be amazing but the cleanliness let it down and did affect our stay and perception of booking with Sykes again.
The house is very well placed just next to the shops of windermere and with most walks a short car journey away. Beautifully decorated inside. What was particularly appreciated is big kitchen with table that could sit everyone, big lounge and games room downstairs. We always managed to park one car in the street and one on the next street over without problem.

Thank you for a wonderful stay at your cottage. The facilities were great loved that the kitchen was so well equipped and the rooms were all a great size. Beds were comfy and showers were great. Very handy location as well. We had extended family with us and enjoyed the communal cooking, eating, planning and chatting in the lovely big kitchen. We wish we had 2 weeks to stay! Just a couple of maintenance things. We had trouble getting the lights to work in some of the bedrooms not sure if the globes were broken we didn't check. In the double room upstairs at the front of the house, the main light didn't work, neither did either of the little ones on the wall. Also one of the bedside lights in this room is broken still works, but the ceramic bottom is broken. Thanks for a fantastic stay
Lovely house very comfy n near all facilities, the children loved the skate park n all amenities just down the road, dogs loved the stream for a well deserved cooling off as very hot. Lots of pans etc to cope with all the family. Everything was geared for a family with children n doggies would defo recommend, any problems where solved quickly by the owner John . Thankyou for lots of happy family memories
We had such a great time at the house in Windermere. You can walk to the shops, cafes and pubs, and the sights of the Lake District are so easily accessible via car or bus. Its so well set up for families, clean and as described. The rooms are all a good size and the beds are very comfortable. Wed love to come back! Thank you.
Cheryl
Our party of 8 had a wonderful week long stay. It looks to me that all off the issues in the poor reviews have been resolved though the squashy settees did take some getting out of after a long day of walking! The house was well equipped with everything we needed. I will definitely recommend Parkgate. Its is very good value for money.
Soukina
Beautiful property with lots of space. Extremely convenient for going into town as just a few minutes away and lots of entertainment provided inside the house as well.
Kieran
Excellent property, we had a great week and couldnt fault Parkgate. Would definitely recommend.
Fantastic property for a large group of people. Very well equipped with everything you need. Had an issue with the washing machine not locking however after reporting, we received new towels same day and was advised a replacement would be fitted the following day, without disrupting our holiday. Would happily stay here again
Fantastic property, well located, comfortable and equipped with everything we needed. We were 6 adults and 2 children and there was plenty of room to accommodate everyone. In particular the basement was great for the kids to play in on the rainy days with absolutely tons of games, books and DVDs to choose from. Any issues noted in previous reviews regarding cleaning and kitchen equipment seemed to have been resolved.
Celine
The beds and pillows were not comfortable and definitely needed new pillows. We did not sleep well. The whole house needed a good clean. The oven was dirty and the tray had not been cleaned. Needed some more kitchen implements and some more matching glasses random selection of non matching and most items were worn down and damaged. No kitchen scissors either. The baths and shower had not been cleaned very well. The shower in the attic did not drain. Old dirty mop outside and could have done with a good clean. There were no pegs for the washing line. Downstairs basement toilet seat was broken. Definitely could not relax in the outside patio as the conservatory was filthy, the sliding doors dirty and no outdoor seating and was not a place to relax whilst looking at the neighbours mattress in their back garden.
The kitchenconservatoryoutside space were all filthy. Despite numerous emails and phone calls to Sykes, and an email to the Managing Director, still noone has responded, over two weeks later. The service from Sykes was appalling, would never book with them again.
We loved where the house was situated, a few niggly bits the owner however was really accommodating in helping fixing! Cant complain and we definitely want to stay again!
The house was a great family retreat. Had everything we needed and more. Stacks of games, home Cinema with a ton of movies, huge kitchen, bbq, 5 good bedrooms, with the option to use the second living room as a bedroom if needed as the sofa was a pull out bed. Was perfect for us.
Thanks very much for a lovely stay. We had to cut our stay short due to bad news at home. We tried our best to leave the house presentable given the quick nature of having to leave. The house is comfortable and clean with lovely decor and great facilities, but If I could give any feedback it would be that the lick of paint out front would do the inside more justice and the yard out back tidied up and a plaque with the house name out front. Great location and would defo return.
Sharon
Disappointing outdoor area photos made it look bigger than it was They could ... Disappointing outdoor area photos made it look bigger than it was They could do with updating the sofas which were saggy Other than that the house was amazing with plenty of everything as there were 7 in our party and the sauna was well used by the males in our party
Denise
The property was excellent, well situated for eating out and the activities in the surrounding area. The facilities were amazing and made the stay all the better. I have already recommended the property to several of my friends especially for larger parties. Parkgate gives you the space and comfort to have a truly enjoyable break.
Catherine
Great house and would definitely return. Only criticism more toilet roll please. One between 6 on the first floor isnt enough. Location is great and we will definitely use again when we return to Windermere.
The house is incredible. Really well located in windermere and plenty of shops close by for food shopping. House was very well laid out and rooms were beautiful. One thing I would say is that the bunk beds are more for children or short adults. No real storage space in this room either but plenty of other rooms to store things. Overall this house was perfect and definitely would book again.
The cottage was neat, tidy and well presented. They provided everything you can think of for a family holiday, lots of board games to keep everyone entertained and big enough to have that little bit privacy. Overall a fantastic cottage for a big family.
Beautiful, spacious holiday home in the centre of Windermere. It was perfect.
