Deerclose West Farmhouse Reviews

Fabulous property in a stunning location, with lots of space for our party of 10. Lovely large kitchendiner in the converted barn part of the property. We particularly enjoyed watching the rabbits from the windows. Guests should note that the track up to the property is rough and steep. Very good communication from management company but we were disappointed that the beds were not made up as we had requested.
What a fabulous place to stay. Spectacular location and a truly beautiful house. Ticked all the boxes for my group and will definitely be back.
Lindsay
What a wonderful place to stay! Gorgeous remote location, and incredible house with all the facilities you need. Friendly hosts who answered any questions via WhatsApp which was very convenient would recommend to anyone and we will definitely be back again sometime in the future. A real hidden gem!
We booked the property for a weekend with our children, their partners and our 6 grand children. The house was in a beautiful setting with a well equipped and beautifully decorated interior. The arrangement of rooms was ideal. Each couple had a double room with ensuite bathroom and our young grand children were all in together which they really enjoyed. There were two lounges and a games room which allowed for quiet and noisier activities so that it was always possible to suit everyone. The large dinning kitchen meant that all 14 of us could sit down for a family meal. We were able to walk in the beautiful Dales countryside straight from the front door, and our grandchildren had a super morning building snowmen!!! We had a super weekend.

We had a wonderful stay for my mums 80th birthday. The place was perfect and we would definitely return. Sykes were easy to deal with and the owners of the property were very helpful. Highly recommend staying here.
Joseph
Excellent facilities for large groups. Very comfy and well equipped with appliances for easy stay. My only niggle is that the cooker hob wasn't easy to use. The scenery round the house is spectacular and there are many attractions nearby. Aysgarth Falls is so beautiful with couple of nice towns like Leyburn and middleham. One thing to be careful of are the narrow country lanes and in winter, the fog which can make driving a bit hair raising. I would certainly go back for another big celebration.
Amazing barn conversion suitable for large groups. The kitchen was ridiculously well equipped, there was even a slow cooker!! Remote area so it's perfect to escape and do nothing for a couple of days.
Lovely farmhouse comfortable for large group
We had a lovely long weekend at Deerclose West Farmhouse celebrating a family birthday. The property was extremely well equipped, warm and cosy, and the flexible layout of bedrooms and social spaces were great for a large family group. A couple of minor maintenance issues at the beginning of our stay were promptly dealt with by the attentive owners. The location in the heart of Coverdale is great for those who love being outdoors in the Yorkshire Dales. Several footpath and walk options direct from the property and a short scenic drive over into Wharfedale or Wensleydale to enjoy the sites there. 20mins from Leyburn for provisions.
Heather
Deerclose West farmhouse is a great property for a big group. The bedrooms are a good size & there is plenty of space in the kitchen. It has incredible views. To get to the property there is a drive along a small country road with a steep hill leading up to the property itself. But it's great for walking & cycling. The team looking after the property were friendly & responsive.
Amanda
We had a wonderful weekend celebrating a big birthday with 2 families . ... 9 adults 1 child plus dogs. Facilities more than adequate, large bedrooms most with their own ensuite, kitchen items plenty for us all 2 fridges, 2 dishwashers, 2 kettles etc. Would recommend to anyone it is remot but we found the location stunning and no issue travelling around the area. All in all a fantastic stay.
Deerclose West Farmhouse is a beautiful property in a stunning location, with lovely views across the valley and lots of wildlife. It is very well appointed, with plenty o storage and 13 people and a dog fitted in without a problem. WiFi was excellent. Thank you! One or two suggestions for improvement Rubber mats for the new showers, which are rather slippery for the elderly! More outdoor furniture on the terraces. Keys for all windows! We struggled but couldn't open the sugar cannister in the kitchen!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Deerclose Farmhouse. The property is very well equipped and ideal for our large family gathering. The owner was extremely helpful in ensuring that the property was set up to suit our needs before our arrival and took the time to contact us to ensure we had everything we needed. The location is very picturesque and convenient for exploring the area.
Jessica
Amazing property, perfect size for the 12 of us. We had a lovely weekend thank you! The views are amazing!!
Pauline
Great accommodation, in a beautiful setting. One of the best equipped we've ever stayed at and a very nice welcome pack on arrival. Lovely walks straight from the door. Would highly recommend Deerclose West Farmhouse.
Albert
Beautiful house in an amazing location, very clean and well equipped. We very much enjoyed our stay. However there were several important issues that need sorting. Hot tap in the kitchen was a dribble, oven went onto dangerous cleaning cycle while grilling. Many of the toilet seats are loose and slip, in use. No firewood on arrival or when reported as missing. When lighting log burner in the down stairs living room it causes the master thermostat to shut off the heating to the rest of the house.
Hilary
An outstanding cottage very well equipped, beautiful views and lots of parking. Had a lovely stay.
The farmhouse is in a beautiful setting, the scenery and views from the windows were stunning. The property is very spacious with plenty of room for large groups. We particularly liked the large kitchendiner and the upstairs lounge. The kitchen was very well equipped although we did struggle a bit with the cooker as the instructions seemed complicated. Minor faults were no hand towels in any of the bathrooms and the plug in the sink in the ensuite downstairs bedroom off the kitchen was not working properly. This did not spoil our trip though, our party of 9 had a great time and were fairly impressed with the property.
Hannah
A lovely house in a beautiful spot. We were a family group of 12 ranging from age 5 to 78 and it felt spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with equipment and the welcome drinks, biscuits etc were much appreciated. The only thing that could do with some improvement is the outside seating area as the benches around the wooden tables are pretty rotten, some of the deckchairs are quite tatty and the BBQ has a hole in it. A hairdryer would also be a useful addition to the house. We had a great time and would recommend this property to others.
We loved our holiday home fabulous location and views with several excellent walks from the doorstep, and lots of beautiful and interesting places within 30 minutes' drive, plenty of room for 9 of us 3 generations, well equipped 2 massive fridges, freezer, 2 dishwashers, washing machinetumble dryer, barbecue, TVs DVD player, etc. ALL GREAT and helped by the weather being kind to us all week! At the end of the stay we really didn't want to leave especially grandma who was threatening to lock herself in and stay there permanently!. Despite being relatively remote, Bruce opens the Thwaite Arms most lunchtimes and evenings, and several supermarkets deliver online food orders and good pubs at Carlton and West Witton are not too far away, serving meals. We also collected a barrel of beer from Wensleydale Brewery at Leyburn, which lasted us the week! Very minor points could do with somewhere to put compostables e.g. a compost heap and the showers could do with racksshelves to put soap, shampoo etc. grandma would have also benefited from a handrail in the shower.
The house was fabulous and perfect for all our needs, well equipped, warm and comfortable with stunning views. We were a group of 13 friends celebrating milestone birthdays and the lounges were great sociable spaces, as was the open plan kitchen dining area. Lovely walks from the doorstep too if you didnt want to drive anywhere. We loved it, thank you.
Coffee provided but there was no cafetiere. Everything else was great.
An excellent, well equipped and comfortable house in a beautiful setting, we had a splendid time, enjoying both days of sunshine and torrential rain. Would definitely recommend Deerclose West as a holiday destination for families or groups of friends. The description was not fully up to date WiFi is now excellent and no doubt future visitors will benefit from the information planned for the house App . We struggled a bit with a lack of info, but the instructions for use of the oven were absolutely invaluable. We would suggest some money be spent on new outside furniture, the provision of standard wine glasses, more doorstops for the hall utility room doors and keys to all the outside doors.
Stephen
Brilliant the wifi was not an issue as there was so much to do and discover ... Brilliant the wifi was not an issue as there was so much to do and discover great to get away from the rat race and enjoy the beautiful countryside would deffo advise this property for the family to get away from the norm loved it
Valerie
The property has a few maintenance issues. The downstairs toilet would not flush, there was a broken bulb in the downstairs bedroom with the freestanding bath. The sink plug in the bathroom of the quiet bedroom did not work and water came in through windows and ceiling of bedroom with freestanding bath. Also the doormats need changing as dirty and old These are maintenance issues only as otherwise property was very comfortable.
Venkat
A lovely off the grid stay! The property is brilliant in all aspects and we enjoyed our stay. Beautiful countryside with lovely views. If I were to nitpick though, the only problem I had was with the wifi. I was foolish enough to think I could work for a couple of days during the stay but with a terrible wifi and zero cellular reception, this was impossible.
Gorgeous property with amazing views! Would highly recommend.
Matthew
Stunning property and great communication with the person managing it. The views are incredible and it's a wonderful location.
What a fantastic cottage. All who stayed were very impressed. Kitchen is amazing. Very difficult to express how much we all enjoyed it, except to say we were all 7080 year olds, who would go back again given the opportunity
Andrew
Excellent property, well converted and beautifully decorated. Perfect provision of all the necessary items for a large family or group. Lots of space inside and out. Beautiful setting. Exemplary customer service.
The house was amazing and the perfect base for a reunion of friends to celebrate a special birthday. It affords great opportunity for limitless walking and Coverdale is beautiful. What a setting. Would deffinately rebook .
Rachael
We celebrated my 30th over the weekend we stayed and honestly couldn't have picked a more beautiful house and location. The rooms were a great size with the added bonus of an ensuite for all the adults. The kids loved the mezzanine with the football table and the garden was a fab size for them to burn some energy on. The house was well equipped with a huge oven, double kettles, toasters and dishwasher which is a great touch when there's 16 of you and everyone wants a cuppa or a bit of toast. Out of everything, the only thing I'd suggest would be to have some plastic cups, plates and bowls for the kids.
Fantastic clean house, loverly location would recommend to large family groups. The host call to see if we settled in which was a very humbling. Five star
Fantastic place to stay, fabulous location and wonderful facilities. We had a small problem and the lovely couple who maintain the property were only too willing to help. All our friends were very keen to know about this property when we showed them photos.
Elizabeth
We had the most wonderful stay at Deerclose West Farmhouse. The property surpassed the photos that we had seen ahead of the stay and was a perfect location for our group. There was plenty of space for the full group of 14 people, including plenty of bathrooms, a huge dining table and a large kitchen. Facilities were also great, and the location was stunning. We hope to return again in the warmer months so we can make the most of the local walks.
Christine
This is a first class property with superb facilities in a splendid isolated location. Coverdale is a totally unspoilt hidden gem. Its a great location for those who enjoy walking and running. There are stunning views from all the windows in the property and children have lots of safe outdoor space for play. Places of interest like Jervaulx Abbey, Middleham and Aysgarth Falls are within easy reach. Further afield, the children particularly enjoyed the Workhouse Museum and the Crypt in the Cathedral in Ripon. The best place for food shopping is Leyburn where there is a wellstocked Coop and Campbells, a traditional familyowned grocery shore. Middleham has an excellent fish and chip shop and a number of real ale pubs.
Kathleen
The owner had thoughtfully supplied all the necessary kitchen equipment needed for s self catering holiday and also provided, items, such as washing up liquid, toilet rolls, handwash, dishwasher tablets, cloths, plastic rubbish bags and many more helpful products for our stay. The beds and linen were clean, and enough towels and tea towels were supplied. All equipment worked well and there was enough of everything to cater for the 13 people on our stay. The kitchen, bathrooms, toilets etc were spotless and there is lots of rooms and space to spread yourselves out. There was however, a dangerous loose flagstone leading to the patio which needs urgent attention! And the narrow road leading up to the cottage has two unavoidable pot holes which really do need filling in. A better placed sign with the name of the cottage at the entrance to to road would also be really helpful, as the road is easily missed! I'm sure that the locals enjoyed watching us trying to find it!! The location of the property is very calm, tranquil and quite isolated. There are no shops for forgotten things but there is lots of peace and quiet! We had a great holiday at Deerclose.
Good morning We had an amazing time and thank you for sharing your home with us. It was my 50th birthday and it was a fantastic venue to host friends and family Just a couple of things which I hope are took as constructive feedback, firstly the outdoor seating in my opinion could be improved to allow a more relaxed atmosphere. Secondly we couldnt find any wine glasses which was surprised us considering the amount of glasses available Many thanks Paul
8 of us stayed for 3 nights and it was so enjoyable. The views from the house were fabulous and we had all the amnieties we needed.Hope to return again
