Exceeded expectations, we all loved it as did the dogs who could enjoy some freedom as there is plenty of space for them. We scored with the weather which helped as the stay was so close to the lakes. Steve was a great help during the stay, will definitely return if not this year it will be next. Thanks again!
Absolutely magical stay at Green Hills! From the moment we arrived at Green Hills, we felt like we had stepped into a peaceful countryside dream. The house itself is beautifully maintained full of character, charm, and thoughtful touches that make it feel like a true home away from home. The surrounding views are just breathtaking rolling hills, total privacy, and the kind of silence you didnt know you were missing until you hear it. The kitchen was fully equipped perfect for cooking family meals, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and everything was spotless. We especially loved having our morning coffee outside with nothing but nature around us pure bliss. The location is fantastic quiet and remote, but still close enough to explore the Lake Districts waterfalls, lakes, and trails. Perfect balance of adventure and relaxation. The hosts were warm, responsive, and gave us great local tips. You can tell they care about your experience and it shows. We would come back in a heartbeat. Green Hills is not just a place to stay its a place to feel.
Excellent facilities and location. Nice walks nearby and short drive away. The property is spacious, clean, comfortable and well put together. There was 8 of us and we never felt cramped. The hot tub was awesome, really nice after a good walk to the canal and backnice pub at the canal The John Barrows monument is well worth the visit for the views. So is Ullswater, with nice pubs and shops. Steve was a great host. Welcomed us and gave the lay of the land and information about the property. Was at hand if needed and had great communicstiom. But otherwise left us to it. Would definitely recommend!
Beautiful cottage . We went for a family getaway in the middle of Christmas and new year and enjoyed every minute. Would definitely recommend.
Hannah
We had a lovely time staying over Christmas. Nothing was too much trouble and the cottage was immaculately clean and well equipped. In a beautiful setting and the hot tub was lovely. We wouldnt hesitate to recommend a stay here.
Sharon
The property although lovely could do with new flooring in the bedroom near the bathroom, there were a lot of stains on the carpet. The kitchen had tiles coming off at the back of the cooker and the kick boards were worn in places. There were what appeared to be squashed bugs on some ceilings and walls. In general just a bit run down. Having said that the hot tub was kept clean, oven immaculate as were beds and bathrooms.
Edward
The hosts were amazing, nothing was too much trouble. Would highly recommend staying, we will be back.
Kathryn
Owners were very friendly and made us very welcome. We had everything we needed for a relaxing week. Very good for exploring the lakes. Lovely and quiet location, wouldnt think you were on a working farm.
Joanne
Plenty of dishes and items to cook a family meal with. Hot tub was maintained throughout our stay, having been drained and refilled before we arrived and we witnessed it being drained and refilling process started as we left. Steve ensured we had settled in OK and was on hand for local knowledge questions. We didn't get to do all the things locally due to weather but look forward to returning.
We loved Sykes cottage, it was very roomy, clean and comfortable, particularly the beds which were amazing. The views from our hot tub were fab and everything worked, although the streaming part of the TV didnt want to play, but we had our devices for TV catchup, so it didnt really bother us. Steve was a great host and very helpful and answered any queries we had very quickly. The overall setup and location of the cottage really suited us and we would love to come back again.
Lovely cottage , great location
Yvonne
We had a lovely week with our family at Green Hills Farm. It is a lovely property however could do with a little spruce up to make it great ! We all really enjoyed the hot tub however the patio area could have done with being tidied up as there were a lot of weeds. A blast with a power washer and some colourful flower pots would make such a difference. The property is very comfortable and wouldn't take much to make it excellent. Ulverston is a lovely little market town with cobbled streets and great shops pubs. Our son's dog Rollo had a great time and we were able to take him in everywhere we visited. Amazing scenery surrounding the property and great walks. We would definitely recommend this property. We would definitely recomme
Great stay. Enjoyed the wine & grandchildren devoured yummy cake on arrival. Thank you. Large & comfortable with all things needed, provided & thank god for the dishwasher! Steve gave me directions for the local shore, fantastic. Needed a hoover & Steve went & bought a new one! Thank you. Could do with a coat stand & hooks on backs of doors for garments. Location is beautiful, peaceful yet with easy access to local town Ulverston & beyond. Will definitely come back. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Michelle

The cottage suited our needs for 6 adults and 3 dogs. There was plenty of room as each room in the house was very big. Plenty of seating both in lounge and dining room. 4 large bedrooms. House is on a working farm which didn't bother us. The owners Steve & Sarah very friendly and a cake and bottle of wine was a nice touch. Would definitely stay there again.
Christine
Nice and big and clean. Comfy beds. Lots of towels. Plenty of hot water. Good equipment. Helpful owners just next door who sorted out a little heating problem for us straight away.

Only stayed for 2 nights as it was a chance to catch up with family. The cottage was nice but a little tired in places but a good size there were 8 of us and one small dog weather was kind to us so managed a nice walk on the Saturday. Hosts were very welcoming
Owners Steve and Sarah's hospitality was excellent. Happy to help. Would definitely recommend Green Hills. Location, Comfortable cottage, Amazing views. No negatives.
Everything went very well, wonderful attention and support in everything we needed. Thank you very much!
Great location for Lake District access. Friendly owners who were helpful throughout
Stephen
We had a fantastic week staying here, access to the lakes is brilliant. The farmhouse has everything you need, and more. Ulverston is a great little town, with lots of interesting shops and pubs. The monument is worth a visit, where the views are outstanding. We'll be back. Steve and Julia.
Large and spacious property with all the equipment needed for your stay. Nice big rooms and comfy beds. Property is a bit remote but not far from town and can be walked to. The property is both central to the Lakes and other coastal areas you may want to visit. The hosts were friendly and helpful and were there if you needed them. Only con comment I can think of was the noisy plumbing but it didn't detract from enjoying our stay at the property.
The hosts are warm and welcoming. The house was everything we all needed and we enjoyed trying out the games. Would love to go again and so would our family.
Natalie
Excellent property. Very comfortable for 8 people, including 3 teens and 5 adults. Very well equipped. Perfect location for the lakes and enjoyed the local walk to the coast. Hosts very good at communicating and available at anytime if needed.
Andrew
Perfect accommodation for our needs. Owners were friendly and helpful. The house smelt clean and fresh when we arrived and it was a good size. Large rooms and plenty of space for all of us. Having a dishwasher was useful because there was ample crockery so it could be filled for use. The house was generally very well equipped and nothing was too much trouble for Steve and Sarah. Excellent property for our dog too!
Joanne
We had a great stay at Greenhills Farm. Steve and Sarah couldn't have been more helpful. The house was very well equipped, particularly the kitchen, with plenty of crockery and good sized pots, pans and serving dishes. The beds were very comfortable and the towels fantastic!
Rebecca
We had a lovely family Christmas in this house. I must say, I dont think the photographs of the interior do it justice. All of the interiors were lovely and much bigger than they look online, with great quality bedding and towels. A great location with a fantastic walk to the coast and good centrality to drive to other places of interest. Would definitely stay here again.
Lesley
One of the best cottages weve ever stayed in. The hosts were lovely and the area beautiful. Cannot fault anything. I know farmers are up early and cleaning has to be done but 10am check out was a bit if a rush for 8 over 70s. This is not a Criticism just an observation It would not put us off going again. Fabulous xx
Sharon
This is a great place to stay for 3 nights for a get together for a family celebration. The cottage was very comfortable with everything we required.
We had a great time 4 adults, 3yr old and dog. Was perfect for us. Location brilliant and house great hosts friendly and helpful
