High Cunsey Farm Reviews

Siobhan
High Cunsey Farm is an absolutely incredible property. The space, the interior, the layout it was even better than we could have anticipated. It was the perfect location for us for a big family weekend away as immersed ourselves in the beauty of the Lakes. Our only slight gripe was the 10am check out. With multiple small children with us, this meant we were a little rushed in the morning and couldnt really enjoy our last few hours in the house. Other than that, we loved every second.
Loved the house. Working the TV's was VERY tricky. Working the light switches very complicated, great if you lived their not if a visitor. Some radiators and bathroom towel rails needed the air bleeding to make them work. I bought a bleed key to sort to a degree. But when you bleed air you need to add more water to the system, but of course we did not have access to the boiler area. We left a puzzle holder under the sofa and a back pack thingy in the understairs cupboard. If you post back we will reimburse.
We had a wonderful time and can't wait to return. The house was fantastic and we all had house envy! We will definitely be back!
A fabulous property ideal for our family celebration!
Kathryn
The house and area are beautiful. We would definitely like to return.
Having stayed in this house at least 5 times for the last few years in early December and also over Christmas I would like to state that the bathrooms are in need of a refresh and are looking tired, especially the shared bathroom on the right side of the house, where the shower is poor and unstable. Some of the pans also need replacing the frying pans especially. Please also leave the Aga on before guests arrive. Those who use an Aga know that you cannot cook on one for 24 hours after turning it on as it needs to warm up properly meaning you cannot cook on it the night you arrive. Other than this the house is superb.

This was a stunning house! In a beautiful setting on the lake, it was comfortable, luxurious and beautifully maintained. I hope we get to stay there again!
We have recently returned from a wonderful 8 night holiday based in High Cunsey Farm. High Cunsey Farm is a gem of a place to stay! This sympathetically restored, beautifully decorated and well equipped Lakeland farmhouse has well maintained grounds that stretch to the shore of Windermere. Recently commented upon problems with the shower in the main bedroom ensuite have been resolved. The digitallycontrolled electric Aga has good instructions for use in the house handbook. The 2 low wooden beams across the main bedroom and the adjacent landing of this traditional style Lakeland farmhouse are approximately 173cm 5ft 8in above the floor. For the taller members of our family who weren't used to low beams a thin, soft, bright piece of cloth we used ties hung over each beam was a good reminder to duck. The house agents, Sykes CottagesLakelovers did take ages to answer the phone, having replied neither to some messages left on their website nor emails. However when we did eventually get through to the agents a couple of days before the start of our stay, the agents were efficient, effective and able to action and resolve all of our queries, for which many thanks!
Alistair
The house was dirty when we arrived, food on the floor etc. ended up having to hoover most of the house. The house is feeling a bit tired now, silicone in en suite in shower gone, was worried about causing a leak so decided not to use. The house could do with some updating
Amazing house
What a super property High Cunsey Farm is. We booked a week at Easter to take the whole family for a double celebration, a 70th birthday and a Golden Wedding Anniversary. There were 10 of us, 6 adults and 4 grandchildren, three families in total. The layout of the property meant that two families could have a double room and a twin room each whilst we had the master bedroom with views down to the lake. Th farm house was so comfortable and homely and full credit to the owners who bought the property about nine years ago and did a full renovation of the property. The large garden was ideal for the youngsters to play in and they loved seeing the wildlife that visited regularly. We had no complaints whatsoever and would certainly consider visiting again if the opportunity arose.
Carolyn
The house was beautiful in a gorgeous setting. Extremely well equipped kitchen. Great open plan layout. Generally house was a bit on the cold side and heating wasnt to be adjusted. My room especially the ensuite was very chilly. A real issue was with the kitchen smoke alarm which was extremely sensitive and right next to the aga. It was continually going off even when not cooking. It set all other smoke alarms off and was very annoying. This marred our stay somewhat. I hope it can be moved as we would book again.
The house and setting was perfect for large multi generational family holiday. Plenty of space to spread out and comfortable.. Our only negatives were the availability of serving dishes, lots of pans but only 1 small oval dish. The Aga looks great but takes some getting used to when you havent used one before. My mark down on cleanliness was only that there is a lot of stuff in the house and we felt there were areas that are clearly not being touched often. Also clearly a problem with wasps in the family bathroom, which is no ones fault but the light fittings were full of dead wasps. None of this would put us off recommending or staying again.
This was a fabulous cottage to stay for our family of three generations. Spacious and had a touch of luxury. Sitting outside with the views was great and there are walks from the cottage without needing to drive anywhere. Recommend this cottage as great location and very quiet to enjoy the surrounding scenery. We had a Tesco delivery which was very easy to book and provided all food and drink for the week.
Catherine
Beautifully furnished property. We had a lovely family stay. Thank you
Outstanding property Beautifully decorated Every possible requirement ... Outstanding property Beautifully decorated Every possible requirement provided Of course its expensive but its a lot cheaper than putting the family in a hotel of equivalent comfort
The property was very well presented and provided a very quiet and relaxing base for our holiday. No expense has been spared on the furniture and fittings and its noticeable that extra effort has been made to ensure all details and requirements that guests will need have been well considered. Weve stayed in many multibedroom luxury holiday rentals over the years and this is amongst the best, assuming youre looking for that traditional cottage theme property. The Brasserie at the local Sawrey House hotel is also highly recommended!
Michael
It had a normal hob and oven instead of or in addition to the Aga and better saucepans it would have scored full marks throughout.
Lovely property, nicely restored with quality fittings. Nice Location, outside space great, lovely big grass snake dont worry about this, as you wont see him if your not looking living in dead tree near stream, duck with eggs n front garden. Smell in main bedroom , which is water related, either from corner of shower or water leak whilst raining which could be heard dripping, one of those things which Im sure owner will sort, this shouldnt detract from a super property in a super location, ver tastefully restored, well done and thank you very much
Outstanding we've been using you for 30 years and this was the best property
We had an amazing time! We enjoyed swimming in the lake and the house was very nice!

The very few improvements that could be made 1. Cooking is dependent on the AGA. We succeeded in finding a detailed instruction book which allowed us to to use it well this could be made more prominent, or mentioned in the folder 2. Out initial order of a travel cot and a high chair was not fulfilled, but were provided quickly when asked for. We loved the garden, access to the lake and the very peaceful location.

This a very well furnished holiday cottage in a wonderful peaceful and beautiful situation. Niggles while we should have spotted it from the pictures there are a number of low beams and two of us who are 67 foot hit our heads on them more than once. The electric Aga we have a gas one took some getting used to. None of this spoiled what was a wonderful break.
The most beautiful house we have ever stayed in, beautiful location, had one small problem with hot water in one side of the house but maintenance came to us within an hour to sort it, deposit returned within 3 days. Really happy, we are already planning a return visit.
