Mill Farm House Reviews

Kathryn
We have just spent a wonderful weekend at Mill Farm House. The accommodation was beautiful and the owners had thought of absolutely everything that could possibly be required from sufficient crockery in the pantry to logs for the woodturning stoves. Their attention to detail was fantastic. The welcome hamper was an unexpected delight too!
Claire
This was our third return back to Mill House Farm. Photographs do not do this holiday home justice. The place is immaculate and very spacious. A lovely generous welcome pack is there to greet you on arrival, great communication with the host. Kitchen has everything you could ever need. It's perfect for a large family gathering and a perfect base to explore North Yorkshire. We will be back!
Another fantastic stay in this gem of a property. The perfect cottage for a get together with friends with great walks and pub on the doorstep. The property also has a very pretty, extensive garden. We really appreciated the very well equipped kitchen and the welcome treats. The owner is also very helpful. Highly recommend!
Lovely accommodation and very helpful owners. We had a very enjoyable stay with the whole family.

Could not have picked a better place to accommodate 3 generations for a pre Christmas family getaway. Spacious immaculate rooms and well equipped kitchens .Games room and good selection of board games kept everyone entertained. Great communication from the owner and the welcome pack a lovely surprise and much appreciated.
Stephen
Fantastic period property in a lovely village. House was warm, quirky and fabulous for our family trip of 15 people. Lovely welcome hamper and the house was already decorated for Christmas. Would highly recommend Mill Farm House. Would also recommend a meal at the Bay Horse Pub lovely pub and great food.
Eleven of us, including two teenagers, enjoyed a wonderful family Christmas at Mill Farm House. It was clean, warm and very wellappointed. This spacious property meant we could enjoy different activities in different rooms when required. Our cooks were impressed with the kitchen facilities and produced a great Christmas dinner and we all appreciated the comfortable beds. Blessed with calm, dry weather, some of us walked every day in the beautiful countryside. Others enjoyed trips into Richmond & Barnard Castle and the cinema in Darlington. There is something for everyone at Mill Farm House! We all loved it.
Katherine
Such a beautiful house that accommodated all our needs from young, to older relatives! We were greeted by an amazing welcome pack and the owner was in touch with her personal number for if we needed her over the weekend. The only thing we struggled with was the size of the oven when cooking for 13 of us but we managed with using the second oven in the annexe too. Highly recommended xx
Our extended family all loved this characterful farmhouse for it's welcoming cosiness and comfort, it provided all the facilities and space we needed and more. Communication was easy with the owners who have put in a lot of effort to ensure the old building provides our modern needs. The property is perfectly located to enjoy true Yorkshire towns and countryside and with great autumnal weather that allowed us to enjoy the outdoors, we had a really enjoyable week. Thanks to all.
Stephen
The property is wonderful and perfectly accommodated the whole family in comfort. The house lacked for nothing and we hugely appreciated the large hamper of goodies waiting for us, a lovely and unexpected surprise. The Bay Horse inn, that is only a short walk away, serves excellent food . Lindsay and Tom were the perfect hosts, messaging us prior to arrival and keeping in touch throughout our stay. Many thanks for an outstanding weekend.
A wonderful cottage, in a beautiful North Yorkshire village. The cottage is lovely and spacious and very well equipped. Many thanks to the owners for the delicious provisions left for us from the nearby Mainsgill Farm shop. The cottage is a fabulous place to stay and explore North Yorkshire, places such as Richmond, Barnard Castle, Leyburn, Raby Castle are all a short drive away. Theres a plethora of great places to eat nearby, The Bay Horse in the village is a delightful pub and only a couple of minutes walk from the cottage, The Brownlow at Caldwell has a large menu of tasty food, and Elixir Italian restaurant in Richmond has some delicious dishes. Would definitely recommend a stay at Hill House Farm.
Great house in a lovely area. The best garden weve had so far and our 4 families have been going away for nearly 30 years together! The two separate kitchens didnt completely work for us mainly because of just the one dishwasher but the main one was so wellstocked that it was fine. Just really the fume smell but it seems youre sorting that. Oh and one party member said an electric charging point in the future would go down well.. Thank you!
The house is excellent beautifully furnished with lots of space. The gardens are immaculate. The host was great really communicative and went out of her way to accommodate us. We wouldn't hesitate to book again.
Samantha
Beautiful house and delightful garden, its perfect for a celebration. Very comfortable beds and so well equipped. Its lovely how theres different living rooms and areas to relax. Lots of thoughtful touches, like extra blankets and a wonderful welcome basket of bread, eggs, milk etc. Thank you, would love to come back one day!
Just returned from celebrating an 80 th birthday with family and friends . Lindsay was on hand when we arrived leaving a generous welcome hamper which was much appreciated by all. The house is huge and very well equipped . Very suitable for mixed age groups , space for downtime if needed . Great fun was had in the huge well maintained garden . Marshmallows toasted on the fire pit. We thoroughly enjoyed a meal at the village pub , the Bay Horse.. family run and very welcoming. We also had a lovely walk through the yellow rape fields , climbing stiles and children rewarded with ice creams at the farm shop! Thank you , Lindsay , memories made forever .
Michelle

Really lovely cottage we were there for a hen party and having the 2 kitchen and living spaces worked really perfectly. We hired a chef one evening and the kitchen is so well stocked with loads of cutlery, plates and glasses. Lovely walks nearby, perfect for a chilled weekend! The rooms were also all very clean and well equipped. Thank you!
The house and barn were lovely, warm and homely with plenty of space for us all. Fabulous welcome pack which was much appreciated. Best equipped house ever, crockery, glasses, cooking pots etc. everything you could want and no chance of running out even with a large party. The garden down to the river was ideal, we had great weather and the children played in the garden for hours.

We had a wonderful stay at Mill Farm House. The property was perfect for our family gettogether, with plenty of space for us all and the kids loved the games room. There were walks we could do from the door and the local pub was lovely too. The communication from Lindsay was great and the welcome hamper was incredibly generous. We've already booked to stay again!
Mill Farm House is the perfect retreat! We had an incredible time there on a recent stay. Even before we arrived, it was clear the owner was very attentive sending a couple of messages with information about the house and wishing us a good stay. This attentiveness hallmarked our stay From the generous welcome pack of local goodies we received on our arrival to the very well equipped kitchen and generous supply of logs, the owner has thought of everything to make your stay as comfortable as possible. The rooms are beautifully decorated and beds are very comfortable. Its also extremely spacious with plenty of cosy areas for relaxing and socialising. The large social space in the barn is just great and perfect for all getting together over food or to play games in the downstairs games room. Theres even a very large garden to explore. Mill House Farm is in a fantastic position for enjoying the nearby countryside and popping in to the local pub, The Bay Horse Inn, which is just a few minutes walk away and serves great food. Thoroughly recommend!

We had the most amazing weekend at Mill Farm House. The pictures do not do this place justice, it is the most beautiful place to stay. All the rooms clean and very comfortable in a good location. Good and clear communication from the owner and lovely welcome gifts on arrival made our stay extra special. We enjoyed every minute, thank you so much.
Rebecca
We have a wonderful stay at Mill Farm House with the family. There was 12 of us and there was plenty of room. Both kitchens were well equipped, the bedrooms all very comfortable and the living rooms had plenty of room for us all. We all enjoyed the play room and the board games. The host were incredibly generous with items they left in their welcome package. It was all delicious and very unexpected. Thank you. The host were available if needed and were very friendly and polite. The area is beautiful and we did lots of local walks. Would stay again. Thank you so much for having us.
Wonderful property. As a group of amateur photographers, we found lots of little nooks and crannies for our pictures and we did not exhaust the possibilities. A few minor negatives Owing to the size of the property, it would be useful to have numbers on the bedroom doors and indications on the doors as to what is a toilet! The garden gate really needs a dollop of oil, it's painful and akin to a horror movie soundtrack! A door stop or hook for the door between the house kitchen and house WC would be a good idea as there is a bit of a wind tunnel that slams the door and rattles windows! That's about it, minor issues difficult to find because the property is otherwise fantastic and well maintained.
We celebrated two family birthdays at this very comfortable and spacious house. Plenty of space to come together and also be separate if you wanted. Had table tennis tournaments and enjoyed exploring in the lovely garden opposite. We had lovely food in the village at the Bay Horse which I booked in advance. The welcome pack on arrival was a lovely gesture and very much appreciated. Lindsay the owner was very helpful via email and in person. All in all a good time had by all !
Pauline
Idyllic home with every possible item we could wish for available! There were 8 adults and 6 children ranging from 259 and Mill house was just perfect for each and everyone of us The rural location was just what we needed, no hustle and bustle, just time to enjoy being a large family unit, playing games and enjoying our own company Highly recommend
Nicola
Beautiful house, gardens and location. We really enjoyed our stay, the rooms and layout worked well, giving us options. We used both kitchen dining rooms the one in the barn once so we could watch England play, which was a wise choice as the game went to penalties! We had lots of fun playing games, table tennis, croquet and using the fire pit. There is plenty of parking at the house, the village is pretty, its only a short walk to the pub, a 25 min walk to Mainsgill Farm shop and a short drive to Richmond. Lindsay was really helpful, good communication, useful information to help us make the most of our stay and responsive to questions.
My friends and I had a very enjoyable long weekend stay at Mill Farm House. We had incredibly good weather which enabled us to make the most of the garden and outside spaces We ate outside on the terrace every day, we very much enjoyed playng croquet and sitting around the fire pit in the evening bring your preferred insect repellant and bite relief. The location was very easy to get to being close to the A66 but allowed us to plan lovely walks directly from the house as well as having Swaledale, Wensleydale and Teesdale all within a very short drive. Indoors the house is spacious, well laid out and extremely well equipped the beds are very comfortable and there are ample bathrooms. Catering a large group with varied dietary restrictions did involve using ovens in both kitchens and all the firdges. Also we made a point of using all 3 of the indoor sitting areas at least once.
Heather
The house was well equipped and provided everything we needed. The garden was lovely with a sitting area that caught the evening sun and a couple of swings provided entertainment. The surrounding area was very scenic especially swaledale.
As a family party of 8 adults,4 teenagers and 4 very lively kids Mill Farm provided absolutely EVERYTHING we needed for a very laid back 70th birthday celebration for the Matriarch . .the superb weather &the awesome Northern Lights display on the Friday night meant that we took full attendance advantage of the huge and wonderful gardens.A superb dinner party at the local Bay Horse was the Highlight of the weekendAll in all the Property and the Communication with Lindsay Owner were faultless and I cannot thank them enoughAwesome
Michael
A lovely building with excellent facilities internally and externally. We were a party of 16,agges ranging from 4 to 77, and all had a wonderful family celebration. Contact with owners excellent and they had some great welcome gifts for us to enjo. Looking forward to a return visit
An excellent stay at Mill Farm House! It is a lovely house clean, comfortable, spacious and well provisioned and in an excellent location to explore the Dales. The owners have set the property extremely well including excellent background information, things to do, maps etc and the house has plenty of books, puzzles and games to cater for poor weather days. The provision of locally sourced artisan food and drink hamper was a delightful and unexpected surprise on our arrival! Highly recommended.
Sharon
We were a group of 10 ladies who had a fantastic time. The farm house is very cosy to sit in and chat with the barn being a great party room for our Saturday night. There is plenty of room to sit round the dining table to be able to eat together. There are copious amounts of cleaning and washingup stuff which is great. We enjoyed a walk out to the Farm shop and had a meal at the Bay Horse make sure you book in plenty of time. Other than that we sat around in our dressing gowns and chilled which is great for usually busy people Some stayed the weekend others the week and some left other days in between. We had a really great time.
We had a wonderful family get together at Mill Farm House. It is such a great space and full of character. It was very clean and well equipped. A generous welcome pack was very much enjoyed. We would certainly love to visit again.
Evonne
Mill Farm House was absolutely wonderful, great space and everything we could have needed was provided, they even included various things in the kitchen to get us going and all of which were delicious. Lots of fun was had snuggled in the living rooms and enjoying the games room too. Lyndsey and Tom were super helpful, they were in touch in advance to check if we needed anything and were really swift and great to communicate with. Would really recommend the house and the hosts! Thank you for a wonderful new year
A lovely family house and fantastic place to spend Christmas with all the family. The barn and house together give great places for everyone to join in or have a bit of peace and quiet. Great to have the piano there and we had a lot of pleasure playing it. Books and games were also excellent and everyone enjoyed them. The house was very snug with the underfloor heating and the wood burners. The owners were particularly helpful and we appreciated their extensive notes on the local area. Thank you for a fabulous stay.
