Whitefriars Lodge Reviews

Joanne
Absolutely beautiful place we will definitely be back
Another fantastic stay at Whitefriars. Its location in the heart of Settle is so handy for the shops, pubs and restaurants yet it is a really quiet and secluded property tucked away behind a gate and a lovely garden leading up to the front door. Having private parking for our cars is always a bonus in Settle. The property benefits from a bathroom for each bedroom and a downstairs loo as well. The house was warm and cosy and well equipped with 2 fridges and a dishwasher. We will be back !
Our second time at this property it is perfect for friends and family. The location is perfect, we didn't use the car for 3 days everything is on the doorstep. The property is lovely and warm and the beds really comfortable. Highly recommend
We had a fabulous stay in Whitefriars Lodge after being let down at the last minute the day we were supposed to arrive by the cancellation of cottage we had originally booked. The owner James was very kind and accommodating, getting Whitefriars Lodge ready for us at such short notice. The house had everything we, as three couples, could want. It was spotlessly clean, very cosy, comfortable and warm. The three en suite bedrooms were perfect. There is a further bedroom which we didn't need to use but also looked great, The location, right in the heart of Settle was ideal for walks and local pubs within walking distance. James was even kind enough to post my coat to me, which I had left by mistake on leaving. Don't hesitate to book this wonderful property, you won't be disappointed.
Lovely stay at Whitefriars lodge every thing you need and lovely warm and cosy would recommend to anyone
Patricia
A great location in settle and the accommadation is perfect for a family get together.
Whitefriars Lodge is in a prime position in Settle, it is very close to all amenities & there are a number of restaurants, cafes & pubs close by. There is also a Coop & Booths Supermarket within walking distance. In terms of transportation the property is served by a decent bus service and the Settle train station is less than a 10 minute walk. We didnt really use the car during our stay but relied on public transport. The property is large, there were 6 of us staying and we had plenty of room. The house was warm throughout our stay. All the facilities worked as expected and the kitchen was well equipped for our needs. The parking instructions were clear and easy to follow. We all enjoyed our break & would recommend the property if youre looking for somewhere to stay in the area.

Whitefriars Lodge is an excellent property right in the heart of Settle. The ensuite bedrooms are all very comfortable and there is a large lounge and dining room. There are 2 downsides the kitchen is small and all the power points are in one corner, which makes it very difficult for more than one person to work in there at a time although the 2 fridges are great!. This makes it tricky if you plan to cook a lot rather than go out to eat. The second is the cast iron staircase not really a problem once you're settled in, but difficult on arrival and departure days!
Sandra
As a group of friends this was the ideal location for a weekend break. The property was clean and comfortable and well equipped for self catering. It has the added benefit of having ensuite with all the four bedrooms and parking for 3 cars. As well as being able to prepare our own meals only 2 mins walk away is a very good fish and chip shop, pizza and Chinese takeaway. Settle is a lovely town with lots of walks to explore. There is a regular bus to Skipton and the train station on the Carlisle to Settle railway line. I would recommend this property for a stay in this area.
Steven
Lovely accommodation and in a great location. Perfect for our 3 peaks challenge. Spotlessly clean and very comfortable I would highly recommend
Lynette
Perfect place in a perfect location Read the information on the property fully ... Perfect place in a perfect location Read the information on the property fully as internet a bit hit and miss and metal steps are steep but we are in an age group in our 60s and 70s and we were fine Great parking, great sized rooms and would go back again
Michael
Very nice and tidy place for our weekend stay. Problems reported were dealt with quickly and efficently. In centre of town, so not far to go for entertainment and food. Would recommend the The Tabor Arms for meals and beer.
Fabulous clean and comfortable property with 4 spacious ensuite bedrooms. Perfect location. Very quiet yet only a few minutes walk to all the facilities in Settle. Pleasant garden and seating area. Definitely recommend Whitefriars Lodge!
Another fantastic stay at Whitefriars Lodge. The property is so comfortable with comfy beds and having an ensuite for every bedroom is great. The location in the heart of Settle makes it so handy for the shops and restaurants yet the property also seems quiet and secluded. The private parking is an added bonus. Thank you we will return !
Perfect lodge for a large party we were 4 couples. The en suite toilets for each room is a real bonus and the living room is large enough to accommodate all comfortably. Great kitchen with all the facilities needed and an extra fridge Coffee & tea facilities were provided and a pint of mile and packet of biscuits was a nice touch. The village is just a few yards away so it's a great base for exploring. Would thoroughly recommend staying here.
Steven
A fantastic place, some comfortable and well equipped, exceeded all expectations. The location was also spot on, great for the Yorkshire 3 Peaks, lots of pubs, places to eat. Would 100 recommend and already planning to book again soon.
Louise
Great location for the town and also to lots of days out. Hosts are great and nothing too much trouble.
Patricia
Great location for all the family
High quality, beautiful property in a fantastic location. Centrally situated for all the amenities of Settle with fabulous walking opportunities right from the door. Unusual to get that and still have plenty of parking. We would definitely stay in this property again its ideal for groups.
Joanna
Excellent accommodation, very clean. Good facilities. Excellent communication with the property owner. Would highly recommend.
Maggie
We loved the house which has been sensitively improved and modernised making it perfect for a holiday for a large family. My daughter wished one of the bathrooms had a bath! The location is fantastic, right in the centre of the town with private parking for 4 cars. The kitchen is well equipped with 2 fridges but lacked sharp knives typical of rental properties and chopping boards, but these are minor niggles. We had a great stay and have booked again for next year.
Barbara
Really enjoyed our weekend, a group of friends away for the weekend for walking. The accommodation was prefect warm comfortable and clean. Shops, takeaways and pubs very near. Lots of good walks. We will be back we enjoyed the area so much.
Great location and property for our group to stay in pre and post our Yorkshire three peaks challenge. Good facilities with bathrooms for each room.
Myself and two friends booked Whitefriars as a base to do motorcycle touring around the surrounding area. It was a perfect location, with easy access to the Wolds and not far to the Lake District. Settle is a great place, plenty of choice for eating out, cafes, Indian, fish and chips, pub meals, all fantastic. The house was perfect, clean and tidy with everything we needed, exactly as advertised, thank you. Definitely recommend and well be back
Stuart
Lovely place to stay, perfect for break in the dales, in the heart of Settle, with great access to the town, great shops, cafe's and bars. Thank you
Thank you for a fabulous stay. Everything about the house was excellent. It was clean, very comfortable, well equipped. Location was fabulous, with all amenities close at hand, and easy access to the Dales. The owners were very helpful, friendly and responsive. Would definitely want to stay here again if visiting the area.
Lynsey
Very clean, comfortable and well appointed accommodation. Would definitely recommend.
Alastair
Lovely place. We were made very welcome on arrival. Very spacious and clean, the six of us had a great time here.
Karen Elizabeth
This is the best placed cottage we have stayed at through Sykes in a quiet spot but close to all facilities Settle has to offer. Comfortable beds. So many gorgeous walks close by and an ideal home for our party of 7 adults. 3 of our party walked to the swimming baths 5 minutes away for an early morning swim on some mornings. We also thoroughly enjoyed our railway trip to see the viaduct which is really impressive. Booths at the end of the alley too, so convenient to shop! Excellent fish and chips from the local chippy but don't leave it too late or they run out of stock. James the owner very friendly we've had a lovely time, thank you!
It was very good. The house was spotless and comfortable and had everything we needed for a good break. The location was excellent, close to the centre of Settle but also very quiet. There are lots of options for eating and the transport links open up the wider area too. We were interested in walking and there are so many good ones from the three peaks to river walks and Malham cove nearby. All in all a good week.
Philip
Very comfortable, clean and with good facilities. Location perfect. Recommended.
Another lovely stay with friends 4 couplesEverything we needed especially comfy beds with lovely bedding and soft towels. Kitchen well equipped and great having two fridges food and beer!. property ideal location in Settle with friendly owners on site if needed ,but not intrusive.
We had a great stay in Whitefriars Lodge. It was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Settle was a great location too. Would recommend.
What a gorgeous property. Each room having ensuites is genius and made our mixed group feel more comfortable. The place felt like home the minute we walked in, and was so central to town that we had everything on our doorstep. 100 recommend.
Louise
Would benefit for access to a washing machine especially as we went running and walking whilst staying.
Patricia
A fabulous property in the centre of Settle. There's parking at the property and there are lots of restaurants, cafes, pubs and shops near by in easy walking distance. We will definitely be returning next year.
This was our second visit to Whitefriars Lodge and we have rebooked for next year. We were a party of six and found every aspect of the Lodge more than adequate for our needs. As always every room was spotlessly clean and cosy despite the inclement weather. The kitchen is well equipped and the location is perfect for accessing the many shops, eateries and transport links that Settle has to offer.
Angela
This is a very lovely property the beds are comfortable, plenty of room, there is no waiting for bathrooms as there are 4 with showers and a downstairs WC. Obviously I understand with the price of energy these days that the heating could not be on all day, but on some of the days, it was a little bit cold when the heating went off after 10am and did not come back on until after 2pm and there were a few cold days when we were there so we could have done with the heating. Fantastic having the dishwasher and my niece really enjoyed cooking in the nice size kitchen. Ample space in the livingdining room for everyone to sit down. This is a fabulous property and would recommend it to anyone with big families. Thank you James and Sue.
An excellent property in a great location. It has everything you need for your holiday, comfy beds, and settees, fully equipped kitchen, warm and lots of space. Close to some excellent places to eat and with lots of walking opportunities. Host is very responsive and helpful. We would highly recommend this property.
Benjamin
Excellent location and facilities for a week of walking and cycling. Private parking and secure bike storage were real bonuses in the town centre location.
