St Edmunds House, Crakehall

A beautiful cottage, what more could you ask for in accommodation in gorgeous Yorkshire. The hot tub was beautifully clean and a very welcome addition to our stay, as during the day we were adventuring with two little ones so the adults needed the relax time when we went to sleep! The cottage is very well equipped and clean and it would've had five stars, aside from a few additions that we believe would've made it the perfect stay. We would recommend the listing to be update to state there are in fact two TVs at the property, not three as stated, and maybe adding that the door frame height is low in places, so taller people will need to duck in places. The TVs would also not connect to the wifi, so we were unable to use any smart functions on the TV, such as apps like iplayernetflix etc. We would also suggest adding more mirrors to the property, one in the second king room and one downstairs in the living or dining room would suffice. We would also suggest a little bin in the shower room and downstairs toilet for women staying at the property. One of the people staying also hurt their foot on the stairs, as it seems some of the pins holding the carpet in place stick through the carpet, which needs to be addressed, he pricked it near the bottom of the stairs. Otherwise we absolutely loved our stay at St Edmunds Cottage and we would definitely stay there again, especially with the changes we have recommended! Thank you so much for our lovely stay

We loved staying here, quaint and full of character. The beds are super comfy and the house had plenty of space and all the items required. The teenagers and I loved the large hot tub!

Good base location for visit to Thirsk racecourse. 30 mins drive. Lovely house but feel in needs a bit of an update. Sofas need replacing and kitchen cupboards could do with repaint and kitchen flooring had hole in it. Bath base inside peeling. One of the dining room chairs top part came off in my hand when lifting the chair. Smelt a bit musty overall when we first arrived. However, we felt that the house overall was very clean thoughout and the hot tub was great. Towels provided, beds comfy in all rooms, showers worked well. Fridge and oven sparkling clean. Nice touch with welcome basket. Outside, there is a lovely small communal garden area with table and some chairs. Flowers in tubs and well tended. Parking at front off the busy main road can be tricky backing out , but plenty of off street parking less than 3 mins walk away. Overall would recommend. ..Nearby pub looks like it needs refurbishment too but short drive takes you to Bedale with options to dine out or shop at coop, with some lovely independent shops too.

2nd time at Edmunds cottage, 6 ladies. Fantastic cottage , quality furniture, bedding, comfort, absolutely everything you could need. Hot tub, enclosed garden seating to dine outside set in a very cute village. Stunning all round, will be going again on our next weekend trip. So cheap between the 6 of us I would recommend this place to anyone its amazing.

Would recommend this to anyone looking for a large air b&b. Facilities great. Beds comfortable and water pressure great. Idea placed to explore area. Lovely quite place to stay Local pub near by for food What more could you ask for

Second time here. Very clean in a beautiful old building. The family loved it. Central to many attractions. Could not get Netflix etc so next time we will have to bring codes etc. Parking can be a problem for other family members if Arrington at beginning and end of school day. Otherwise we had a wonderful week away

Lovely period property with beautiful surroundings. Private hot tub was well used and a key feature when booking for our party of eight women for a relaxing weekend away . The only downside, taking into account the need for 8 to get ready on a morning, was the noticeable lack of mirrors in bedrooms! The room that did have mirrors did not have one near a socket for use of a hairdryer.

We were a family of 8 including 3 children. We requested a stair gate which was fixed on when we arrived. The cottage was warm and cosy The hot tub was excellent not too chemically and lovely and hot. Nice welcome pack with bread, milk etc and tea and coffee. The dishwasher was not working despite being new. They came out on Sunday to fix this. The smallest bedroom was chilly. Beware of low ceilings but this is because it is a cottage. Great location and great village with parks and walks. Visited Forbidden Corner and local waterfalls which were excellent. I would recommend St Edmond House and would visit again

Lovely spacious house in a great location for accessing the Yorkshire Dales. Very noisy main road to front of house which is clearly the transport route for articulated lorries travelling to and from the quarries. This did not detract from the lovely facilities in the accommodation but is worth noting for families with young children as you cannot open the front door and allow them onto the driveway without careful supervision. Rear of property is lovely and the hot tub area a bonus.

The surrounding area is pleasant, with local amenities within driving distance. There is a petrol station and a pub within walking distance but these were not especially well stocked. There was only enough firewood supplied for one night, which was disappointing given the price per night. The property otherwise had sufficient provisions including a welcome hamper which was a nice touch. The hottub is a highlight, located in a small private yard. The property was comfortable but in need of a deep clean and some TLC, again, given the price per night. The ceiling light in the dining room has small glass droplets and when someone is in the bedroom above it causes them a shake which became annoying very quickly. The property is situated next to a busy road with agricultural vehicles etc. passing frequently. This was not a huge problem for us, but could be for lighter sleepers.

We had a super break 5 ladies in a comfy, cosy cottage. We loved the hot tub, and to sit chatting in the lounge. Beds and bedding were brilliant, all equipment needed in the kitchen and a great location for walks including a pub a few dogs down. A cute little garden for the warmer months. Our only points would be the main bathroom could have been cleaner, especially the toilet upon arrival. The dishwasher didn't work which we realised once full. I did send a message to number given but no reply. On lighting the fire it just filled the room with smoke so guessing the chimney needs cleaning. A smart t.v for when the weather is bad would also have been helpful. All in all we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

An ideal location for exploring the Dales and the Moors. The property suited us well and the hot tub was particularly enjoyable.

Beautiful cottage with lots of character and loads of space. Ideally situated for a ramble, local pub and main high street we had a wonderful stay thank you.

Stayed with friends to celebrate a birthday. The house was very quirky and clean. The garden was shared but as the other cottages were empty so we had the garden to ourselves. The house was well equipped and had everything we needed, it was also in the centre of the village and close to the local pub. We would definitely return again

More mirrors in each room. also the the lampshade in the master bedroom makes the bedroom gloomy. Diffivult to see anything at night

St Edmunds is a lovely, cosy cottage. Well furnished, comfortable beds and everything you need. It is in a convenient spot for many of North Yorkshires attractions dont miss Fountains Abbey and the Forbidden Corner! It is however on a very busy main road, so I think in the Summer, when you want windows open, it would be rather noisy. There is no safe outside space for children or dogs, the shared grassy area is directly in front of the other cottages.

Fabulous cottage, lovely and spacious with great character. The facilities and hot tub are excellent. We went as a group of 8 and there was plenty of kitchen utensils. It is on a main road but not too much traffic, so it is not too noisy. We loved our stay.
