Bracken Ground Reviews

Steven
We booked Bracken Ground for an 80th, 21st and 60th family birthday celebration. Everyone was so impressed with the accommodation, enough bedrooms and bathrooms for all plus lots of relaxing spaces to enjoy. The new deck was put to good use as a shady chill out area, and we all enjoyed the hot tub! The house was well equipped with everything we needed only comment was fridgefreezer could have been slightly bigger, really comfortable beds and lovely outdoor seating area. Amazingly we had beautiful weather every day so the lovely grounds were a real plus! All in all a five star break and many memories were made we hope to return!
Bracken Ground is a fab property in very peaceful surroundings. The facilities are excellent and the property owners we extremely helpful . The dogs loved the garden. The area is beautiful with great walking and a great pub within walking distance serving excellent food. Would highly recommend and would happily stay again. Helen Paul Tim and Maria

Absolutely gorgeous property! Such calm and peaceful surroundings, immaculately clean and very well equipped. We had a lovely weekend and the hot tub and sauna right by the pond were such a nice touch that elevated the experience further. We really enjoyed our stay here and couldnt recommend it enough. My only comment would be not to follow the satnav for the postcode as it takes you to a farm!
Absolutely fantastic place and will definitely return. We loved how peaceful it was, large grounds and with excellent amenities. Also close to Coniston and south Windermere. Couldnt have asked for a better week away.
Amazing place and amazing touches such as a welcome hamper. Perfect secluded location for a weekend in the woods with family

The property is set in amazing surroundings, inside, the property was clean and the lay out was perfect, the bedrooms are well sized and very comfortable, with 7 adults and 4 children there was plenty of room. The lounge area was very large with a well sized dinning table and log burning fire is a nice addition. The Kitchen is well equipped and has a lovely view overlooking the pond. The Pizza Oven, Hot Tub and Sauna were very well received and help with an amazing relaxed stay. The owners sent a welcoming text with a few local attraction recommendations and were excellent when we had any queries, answered straightaway. The garden is surrounded by a wonderful wooded area and we were lucky to be able to see the local deer and all the different local birds. The surrounding towns are easily reachable with a relatively short drive which all have stunning views of the stunning landscape. Thank you again to the owners you really have a special amazing property.
We were a group of men currently in 12 step recovery and we wanted to found a secluded peaceful spot to strengthen our recoveries and get get super spiritual in this wonderful location we enjoyed the setting the woodland area the small lake right outside the property, the lovely hot tub and the outside sauna. It was absolutely perfect. The owner were very kind and welcoming they left us a beautiful pack to start our weekend and we really could not fault the property on anything. We all left the property feeling super nourished in a spiritual sense and would definitely recommend.

Beautiful accommodation its own secluded woodland. Perfect for a tranquil retreat. We enjoyed the hot tub, sauna, walking through the woodland and making pizzas in the pizza oven. We saw the hosts and they were really helpful and accommodating. I would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a peaceful stay. You may need a car as it is far from shops etc. Thanks for letting us stay with our dog too.

We had a fabulous week here and it suited all of our needs from age 7 to 72! The hot tub and sauna were just what was needed after a days walking in the most spectacular scenery. We did some walks from the doorstep and repeated some of our favourites over the years . The beds were really comfy and there was plenty of room for all of us . We self catered and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook for us all . I think we were all sad to leave and would definitely recommend it to groups of family and friends. The owners kept in touch throughout, although we didnt need to call upon them.
Excellent accommodation with very high quality facilities. Our grandchildren loved the hot tub as did the adults. The garden area, with the stream made a relaxing backdrop for our holiday which we enjoyed despite the weather. Cottage was warm when we arrived and was very comfortable for our stay We would recommend Bracken Ground for families of all ages.
Bracken Ground was absolutely perfect! We had such an amazing weekend and the property is stunning! We loved that it was set in beautiful woodland but was only a short walk to the local pub which was spot on for an afternoon stroll. The house is lovely really well equipped and spotless! The garden is exactly what you need to relax in with the Hot Tub by the pond. The owners were very helpful sending us all the information we needed throughout our stay! Would 100 recommend this place!

Bracken Ground was perfect for our new year celebration with three generations of our family including a small baby, a toddler and a five year old. The grounds were spectacular and the dogs absolutely loved exploring them. The hot tub and sauna were very popular too not with the dogs!!. We couldn't fault anything. The decorations all around the outside and inside were so thoughtfully done and really added to the atmosphere. Thank you so much for providing such a great home from home. We hope to be back sometime.
Lovely house in wooded grounds, Hot tub and sauna very popular. We had a fabulous family 4 days, in beautiful surroundings. The house , is very high spec, and caters for all needs. Kitchen is very well equipped.
We have stayed here many times. Bracken Ground is set in really lovely surroundings, just outside of The Lake District national park. The property is well set out, clean, comfortable and well equipped. We have dogs so it's a great holiday for them as well as us. The outdoor sauna and hot tub are great, even in October weather! The surrounding area has some good walks and is incredibly peaceful. The owners messaged us to let us know some information and they had had starlink installed, which helped the previously patchy WiFi. They were very friendly and helpful. Love it here and will be back next year.
This is an outstanding property! Absolutely gorgeous inside and out, finished to a very high standard with every detail thought of. We are a family ranging from 4 75 years and everyone thoroughly enjoyed our stay.Thank you.
We loved every minute. Bracken Ground was just lovely, the house, the grounds are very well maintained and the both the hot tub and pizza oven got lots of use. The beds are extremely comfortable, and the bedding was blissful. Our group was 9, a mix of adults, teens, and kids. Can recommend the paddleboarding lessons at The Swan hotel, Newby Bridge, we did lots of walking and lake activities and it was a joy to return to the solitude and comfort at Bracken Ground. Thanks.
The property was lovely, really nice. In the words of my friend, better than the pictures, and the pictures were nice. The house was really well equipped with everything we could want. It was a very pleasant place to be for a week. Just 2 small points. First is that the directions could be clearer. The property is tricky to find and we spent ages getting there. We thought that it is easiest to get there by starting from the centre of Spark Bridge, over the river, 2nd little road on the left. Left at the next junction, through Colton, left at the sign and then follow the windy road uphill. Second bit of feedback, was we had got up early for a last chill int he hot tub before departing. But the maintenance chap had emptied it and was refilling it with cold water. He shouldn't do that before check out time.
Bracken Ground is a very thoughtfully well put together holiday property in an absolutely stunning location. We really enjoyed our stay, we adored the sauna and hot tub after exploring the beautiful grounds and even saw a deer run across the garden. Relaxing in the lounge in front of that glorious fire after a day of adventuring was such a treat. Our only real issue with the property was the hot tub maintenance, it was cold 20 degrees when we arrived at 4.30pm, not ideal when stood all excited in your bikini after a long drive up there. Then the maintenance van visited at least three times, at least twice pulling up to park right by the bedroom windows with the radio blaring out which seemed very disrespectful of the occupants, especially having paid for a relaxing and restful holiday this happened at 7.30am on the Friday of our break. On the last day the guy came and started faffing with the hot tub at around 8.30, it was a little disruptive and gave a sense of 'off you go' on what was our last little bit of time there. Also as previous occupants have mentioned the knives are in desperate need of a sharpen. Otherwise everything was perfect. We have fallen in love with the Lake District.
Fanatic stay, would highly recommend, could benefit from different heating settings within the bathrooms as these were cold in the mornings one of the showers was not working at all, but this didnt really effect us as there was only me and my husband staying at the property. Hot tub maintenance impressive with 3 checks within a 7day stay, sauna good, could potentially do with fenced in closed in area to stop any incidents with the pond, we used some outside patio chairs by the kitchen doors to prohibit the dogs going on the grass mud or the pond, To help keep the place clean.tv signal in the master bedroom did not work, but we did bring an Amazon tv stick which solved this. We also bought 7 blankets, rugs and throws to keep floors and sofas clean. Overwhelming food package on arrival, this was a lovely touch, could also not fault the amount of kitchen equipment available for everything you could possibly need for your stay. Nice daily visit from the local sheep
