We had a lovely stay at the house. It was very clean, well equipped, and comfortably warm, which made it feel welcoming from the moment we arrived. The location was ideal, close to town and convenient for getting around, and having space to park a car within the forecourt was a real bonus. Overall, a comfortable and practical place to stay, and we would happily recommend it. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Louise
Absolutely Brilliant Cottage! Very Central, with parking. Very well equipped, perfect for groups and family
Gillian
The property is in the centre of Barnard Castle, but in a small courtyard which has the advantage of being very calm, having no traffic noise but being very convenient for restaurants, pubs and shops. Also a short walk to the Bowes museum. The cottage itself was bright and airy with all the bedrooms being large enough for kingsize comfortable beds and room to spare. Also plenty of room in the sitting room, dining room and kitchen. The courtyard looked lovely an also private, but we couldn't make use of it in February but it would be lovely to sit out there on a summer afternoon. We had a couple of meals at The Three Horseshoes and some other restaurants within walking distance. We had a lovely stay and would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a trip to Barnard Castle.
A really lovely cosy cottage and just perfect for our short stay to visit Barnard Castle and Raby Castle, very clean and lovely and warm.
Kathryn
Had a fantastic week at the carriage house. A really beautiful cottage in a great location.Would highly recommended it.
We had a lovely holiday, didn't need to use the car much as we like walking and there are a lot of good walks on the door step. Barnard town is very nice, with lots of shops and cafes including antique shops, the chocolate shop is a must, with chip shops and butchers on your door step. The Bowes museum, High falls and Raby Castle all worth a visit. The Carriage House is very comfortable although it does seem to have a hotel feel not the cosy cottage type feel, it also lacked a few basic things like kitchen paper ,cling film and counter top cleaning spray, but a walk to Boyes soon put that right. A good place to stay and a nice holiday had.
Flawless !!. We know Barnard Castle well so the advantages of the central location with off street parking were well understood. The property and facilities were great.
We had a lovely week at the Carriage House in Barnard Castle. The property was very clean and well equipped. The location was perfect for exploring the town and the on site parking was an appreciated bonus
This was our second stay at this property which is proof that we did enjoy it and would use it again. The on site parking is of great value as its difficult to park in Barnard Castle. We walked everywhere except to Raby Castle. The local shops are well worth browsing and shopping. We made good use of the local cafes and restaurants as well as walking to Bowes Museum. The property is excellent, well presented and maintained. We had a great week and will return again.
The property was excellent, very clean, good furnishings. Although we had a problem with pipe under sink. This was dealt with very quickly. Great location, with outside garden patio. A property I would recommend to friends and family.
Beautiful property, we're able to walk to town, castle and did not use the car at all due to lovely walks on the doorstep and Beautiful courtyard which we took advantage of during the lovely sunshine we had too.
Would highly recommend staying at the carriage house, house is beautifully decorated very cosy and warm, kitchen well equipped and beds very comfortable. Easy check in and check out and when we arrived the house was immaculately clean and tidy, loved it's very central location, will definitely be returning, thanks for a great stay.

The house is perfectly situated with plenty shops, eateries and pubs on the main street. The house is of a good size,4 lovely bedrooms,1 with ensuite and a large separate bathroom. The kitchen is very well equipped with more tgan enough crockery, cutlery and glasses aswell as a dishwasher and a washing machine. A love little courtyard for the warm days. We would highly recommend to family and friends.
Christine
A lovely house for our family holiday. Spotlessly clean, warm and comfortable and very well equipped. Good sized rooms and bedrooms. Perfectly located for the town and castle and an easy walk to the Bowes Museum. A pretty courtyard with furniture, nice area to sit if the weather permits.
Had a fantastic week at the Carriage House. Very central location and the town has everything you need, plenty of independent shops as well as a Morrisons supermarket. Cottage itself was great, very clean and modern inside with a very well equipped kitchen.
An absolute gem of a home for the week. Clean, modern, great size. Great, easy check in and out and amazing food and atmosphere at The Three Horseshoes. Genuinely not a bad word to say. Would definately stay again.
Glynis
A lovely holiday property, well maintained, clean and contained everything we needed apart from a pair of kitchen scissors! We were glad we could park two cars at the property although this was very tight as it was a very busy little town. Hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating when we went to check in and when we left. We also enjoyed our celebration meal at the Three Horseshoes.
Carole
This was home from home. great location and spacious bedrooms. Family had a great time.

The house was lovely, well situated, spotlessly clean and very well equipped. Thoroughly recommend, would stay there again
Spotlessly clean and well equipped house in the centre of town. Perfect location for the shops, pubs, castle and river walks.
Bernadette
Really lovely cottage, clean & modern! It's in the perfect location around the corner from the beautiful town. Rooms and beds were really comfortable, with plenty of space to relax. Thank you for a great stay!
I was part of a group of ladies catching up for a long weekend. Everything was great, especially the location, situated just off the main street of Barnard Castle and a short walk from the river for walking. The only small negative was, that on arrival, we could not initially find the welcome book, which we eventually, after much hunting, found under a stack of magazines on the bottom shelf of a coffee table. Once located, we could access the WiFi!
Very clean and comfortable. Very well equipped. Small private garden. Ideal situation in town. Private parking. Ideal for touring N Pennines. Recommend a visit to Beamish. Egglestone Gardens, small but a treat.
William
The property is what it says except for the parking! . Space is very limited and very awkward even for one small car! With 12 big cars impossible. More accurate to say park on the road outside and there is normally space there most days even market days . Leave the information booklet on the kitchen counter. Did not find it until 2 days into the holiday!! Instruction relatingto sheets towels could be clearer in how to leave them and bins every alternative Thursday? How do we know which week? Just little things to make better not criticism. Staff at Hotel friendly enough Property is comfortable, good quality and everything works!
Alison
Only issue was the step in the hall towards living room dining room which is not very visible to people with limited mobility. Maybe this could be looked at as one of our party 89 years old fell but the cottage is beautiful, well equipped etc lovely stay.
Christine
A lovely property which was very conveniently located within Barnard Castle. The property was very well maintained, with excellent amounts of crockery, glasses and other equipment. There was a great deal of attention to detail in the furnishings and everything was very clean.
Stayed here twice, great location in centre of town and at the heart of Barnard Castle. Just perfect
Deborah
The house was well equipped and very comfortable. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thought I should point out the hoover left at the property was helpful as we had young children with us. The power cord needs checking though as it had a tear in it. The rubbish required separating for recycling and general waste however there is only one bin inside the house. It would be helpful to provide clearly marked bins inside the house. The location of the carriage house was fantastic, we had such a good time we have booked to come again next year!
Wonderful location and a homely cottage. With the town of Barnard Castle having all that you need. 5 star all round
Eileen
The Carriage House as I told the owners was absolutely 5 star. The quality of all amenities both inside and outside as in the Courtyard at the back were perfect. We have booked many excellent holiday cottages and villas over the years and this was the best of all!!! We found Skye Cottages very efficient too. The added bonus was great weather and very central to Barnard Castle amenities such as restaurants supermarkets shops and bars.
Elaine
Very comfortable and well equiped. Only thing i would say is some of the information leaflets about places to go need updating. Also the recycling and rubbish bin info was confusing. Otherwise it was very clean and in a fantastic location. Great holiday .
Sharon
The Carriage House was a lovely place to stay clean and comfortable, everything you could need. Offroad parking for two cars. The location was particularly good right in the middle of the town but quiet at night so we could walk to shops, pubs, restaurants I recommend The Three Horseshoes Sunday lunch, Rise bakery, and 149 fish and chips absolutely divine! A short walk to Bowes museum is a great day out. Surrounding countryside was just lovely the Dales are stunning!
Audrey
A very nice well decorated house in centre of barnard castle. The house is . a 2 min walk to the Main Street .. all communication with the host is great . We would definitely recommend. We Had 2 very nice meals in the three horse shoes hotel which was also a 2 minute walk
Sylvia
The property was nicely appointed and clean. Was in a good central location. The property was cold on arrival and would have benefited from the heating being on in advance. The parking proved to be an issue. The small courtyard we were told on arrival was for our use only. On arriving back to the property after a day out we couldn't park as two cars were in the courtyard. I had to go to the Hotel where the keys were collected from and reported the problem. The member of staff I spoke to seemed to know straightaway who was parked there and got them to move the cars. As this is clearly an ongoing issue it needs to be resolved.
Lovely base for two families to spend a half term holiday. House was warm, kitchen well equipped and beds very comfortable. It's very, very quiet for such a central location too! The sofa and armchairs in the lounge could do with replacing the springs have gone in places, but were comfortable enough and this didn't bother the kids one bit! Enormous smart TV in the main lounge and broadband good enough to stream a film via a Chromecast. Would recommend.
