West View Cottage Reviews

Antony
Excellent accommodation in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales, with easy access to all that the area has to offer to visitors. A very well maintained property that we enjoyed staying at, close to all local amenities, and was a great base for our walking holiday.
Catherine
It was our second stay at West View Cottage, and Im sure it wont be our last. The cottage is ideally located, close to the centre of Settle and only a few minutes walk from the Station. There is on street parking if you are travelling by car. The property is immaculately clean and well equipped. The rooms are spacious and the beds are comfortable. Just be aware that the stairs to the top floor are steep for anyone with mobility issues. If there is anything on at Victoria Hall during your stay it is well worth a visit. West View Cottage is a lovely property in beautiful surroundings.

Great property, conveniently located a very short walk to the high street with all amenities in Ettle. The property was warm with the heating turned on when we arrived. Well stocked with undersold etc and everything you needed to cook a meal if you so wished. We went to the Talbot for a drink, friendly welcoming pub, then to the Holden Lion for dinner one night. Great welcoming response from staff. Walks on the doorstep but we did a circular walk in Hawes. Great stay! Thank you!
Brilliant base for exploring the Settle region. Moments from the High Street and station. Really spacious rooms, plenty of parking and wellequipped house too. We are hoping to be back!
The house was much more spacious than it looked and was very clean, comfortable and well maintained. Very centrally located and only a short walk to all facilities. We would definitely go back.
Emanuele
This was a very disappointing stay. We reported a severe damage on the stairs balustrade that put in danger us and our children. My wife nearly fell down due to slippery stairs. In response of this transparent and honest report made for security of other guests we received a claim to pay for this pre existing damage. This is a very bad attitude and a dishonest approach. Totally not recommend a stay here.

All was excellent throughout, a well presented property with fantastic facilities and location. Just one tiniest of niggles was the size of the bath towels, they were a bit too small. Apart from that we had a terrific weekend stay. Thank you
Deceptively spacious end terrace property. Inside was clean & well decorated with everything you could need. All fittings appear modern & was impressed with little condsiderations like the small torches in the bedside cabinets so you could find your way to the bathroom in the dark. Location is excellent being 5 mins walk from town centre. Only minor issue was with the parking as there are a lot of cars in the street & we couldnt park outside the property at all during our two night stay. However we managed to park a few doors away most times. Also the junction back into the main road certainly tests your hill start skills. If you have a smaller car there is a narrow alleyway at the end of the street leading back onto the road which we used.
Ideal for our party of four gents staying and travelling the area.

This is a very spacious house that is very close to all the facilities in Settle including the railway station. It is well equipped with a washing machine and tumble dryer that is very useful for walkers like ourselves. We had a very enjoyable week and walked from the house on some days and great weather.
West View cottage was lovely clean home from home, everything that you needed was provided and lots of space inside. Only a short walk distance into town, with a choice of pubs, cafes or takeaway. We enjoyed the week walking and the weather was brilliant. Thank you for fab week.

West View Cottage is in a convenient location in the lovely market town of Settle. Settle is one of those small towns that still manages to thrive, having all sorts of facilities from a butcher, through grocers and a supermarket, to several pubs and even a barbers and a nail bar. The location puts the Cottage within an easy walk of the lot. Settle is conveniently located for trips to the surrounding peaks of Yorkshire, while still only being an hour or sos drive from the Lakes. The Cottage itself was clean and well equipped. It says it sleeps eight but, unlike many others, this place can actually support eight, with a full kitchen, a large dining table and a decent sized lounge. Highly recommended.
Robert
Lovely cottage and great location.
West View cottage was fabulous! Extremely comfy beds, great selection of cooking utensils, very convenient for walks from the door and into town, great to have a utilityboot room. Easy to find good instructions for getting into the property.
Yvonne
We had such a lovely stay! A beautiful house! Thanks
West View Cottage is a lovely cottage on a quiet street in Settle. The cottage is very comfortable and well equipped. We were a party of 5 adults and the cottage felt spacious. We had a couple of queries about the heating while we were there and the owner contacted us immediately to address our issues. I'd definitely recommend West View, it's a beautiful cottage in a quiet area of Settle, which is also very convenient for the train station and shops.
This property is lovely. It's so spacious, the photos don't do it justice. From outside it looks tiny ,but it is like a TARDIS when you get inside!. Immaculately clean. Lovely touches everywhere. It is situated right in the town centre, so the cars were parked up and we didn't need to use them at all during our stay. Only comments are , a few more waste bins dotted about, and mirrors in the two twin rooms would be handy. These are really only a minor point. We were 8 girls and we had a great time.
Anthony
Another excellent weekend in this wonderful cottage. Clean, tidy and very comfortable. Great for a family of friends get together.
Cathryn
We were very happy with the property and its location. In cold and frosty early winter beautiful! weather, the house was warm and cosy. It is well equipped and very comfortable, beautifully decorated. We loved being within close walking distance to the centre of Settle and so close to the beauty of the Dales. In fact we didnt travel far to access stunning walks or bike rides. We found the mortice lock on the front door a little tricky and mainly used the back door. A more precise address would be helpful in the listingconfirmation ie including the street name not just the name of the terrace although the street name was in the more detailed directions it would have helped to have it included in the property address
Steven
Really great cottage with plenty of space and central to Settle. Parking was no issue, always a space in front of house. Pre arrival call with owner was great, really helpful with details of stay and very accommodating. I could not fault the accommodation or Settle itself. Very happy
Robert
This is a super property, ideal for a family party of eight. We really appreciated the kitchen and dining area weve had places in the past where they dont really allow room for everyone. All the rooms and facilities were immaculate. The location is ideal being a short walk from the town which is full of interest. It is easy to access walks from the house even allowing for inclement weather as there is plenty of drying space in the property!
Great place to stay. Wonderful view from rear of cottage. Lovely walks, pubs and places to eat. Station really handy for rail trips. Excellent facilities in cottage. A proper handrail on the steep stairs and perhaps a chair in the bunk room would help. Otherwise brilliant.
Gillian
Very comfortable & clean. Excellent showers, brilliant bathwithaview, ample hot water. Very useful to have a dryer as well as a washer. All the rooms except for the twin bedroom are bigger than they look in the photos. A very good selection of gamesdvds provided we spent a lot of time around the kitchen table playing 'Don't Panic'. Had a minor issue DVD player not working which was sorted immediately by the owner. No problems with on street parking.100 would return.
The house was lovely but we missed having some outside seating. Other houses nearby had benches front and back which would have been good.
West View Cottage is an excellent place to stay in , so clean and spacious . The beds are comfortable and the kitchen is well equipped . The cottage is in a great position, close to the shops cafes and pubs of Settle , but far enough that parking on the street outside the house is not a problem. With a marvellous view , lovely decor and all the facilities you could possibly need for a holiday I dont hesitate to recommend
Second time we have stayed at West View. We have family in Settle and are regular visitors. West View is home from home really tastefully and comfortably done with great views out the back. Its very spacious too.
Claire
Lovely cottage within an easy walk to amenities in Settle. Warm and comfortable for our January stay. Big boot room washroom for coats and boots. Ideal for 2 couples as bedrooms and a bathrooms on both of the upper floors. Everything we needed and spotlessly clean. I would definitely recommend staying here.
West View Cottage is a lovely holiday home in Settle , close to shops, bars and the railway station . It is very clean , warm , comfortable and well equipped . All of the rooms are nicely decorated , spacious and modern . It is a perfect place to relax after walks in the beautiful Yorkshire Dales . Would definitely book West View Cottage again
Claire
What a beautiful house, so much space for all 7 of us. Very clean, very comfortable esp the beds! Fully equipped with everything we needed esp for cooking meals most days. Settle is a beautiful town with a good variety of shops. The local walks and scenery are just stunning, waterfalls, caves and a beautiful river all within 2 or 3 miles. Plus a beautiful train ride to see the viaduct at Ribblehead We are thinking of staying here again next year as we barely scratched the surface of things to do!
Anthony
A fantastic weekend enjoying a family get together. The cottage was wonderful, exceeding all expectations. Clean, warm and well equipped, a beautiful cottage in the beautiful village of Settle. Extremely comfortable beds, spacious bathrooms, crisp linen made for a very relaxing weekend. Thankyou
Had a great family holiday staying in West View Cottage. It was very comfortable for the 6 of us clean and well equipped. We really appreciated the amazing bathrooms and large Utility Room which was ideal for drying off clothes after some of our rather wet walks ! Also handy for popping into Settle with its shops and great places for tea and coffee. A great base for visiting the Dales.
Kenneth
Enjoyable stay in this property in Settle. Easy walking distance into the centre, lots of shopscafeseating places. Highly recommend The Golden Lion for an evening meal make sure you book in advance Short walk to the Settle railway station too and we had a wonderful ride from Settle to Carlisle beautiful scenery! May we make a couple of suggestions? The front double bedroom would benefit from a mirror and a wall chart or reminder could be displayed in the utility room to show when bins need putting out for emptying. When we where there both exterior bins were full.
Excellent in most aspects but one important issue for us and we noticed others have mentioned the same issue . There is no handrail on the stairs. This is dangerous for the young , the old and those with mobility difficulties . Also could do with litter bins in bedrooms . Other than these things I would have no hesitation in recommending this beautiful cottage to others .
Victoria
Spacious and well appointed house in perfect location in Settle. Accommodation had everything we needed for a fantastic stay.
Amazing holiday hone great view & spotless. View from bath amazing but could have done with some outdoor seating & a table. Also maybe a ironing board iron & hairdryer.
Edward

A very clean and comfortable cottage within an easy walk to the centre of Settle. Lovely bathroom and very comfortable mattresses.
A lovely spacious cottage in a fantastic location. Beautifully clean and well equiped, and convenient for Settle, the surrounding countryside and the scenic Settle to Carlisle railway, we had a very enjoyable holiday.
This cottage comfortably accommodated 6 adults. It was warm, clean and very well equipped for a staycation where we were doing our own cooking. The centre of Settle was a 5 minute walk away which was ideal. Places such as Malham Cove and the 3 Peaks were all easily accessible by car. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend it. The owner replied to questions quickly and was extremely helpful.
