Belgrave House Reviews

Belgrave House is absolutely amazing! It was an outstanding place, we booked as a surprise birthday weekend as a group of friends. Belgrave House did not disappoint. High quality finish to the property. Clean and welcoming environment. Great communal areas including bar and hot tub. Even the thought of the kitchen area with the dining table it is all inclusive for everyone to be to be together as well as separate zones if people wanted to chill in the lounge area. Great that it has 3 bathrooms too! The owner was very friendly and approachable too. We had a wonderful stay. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
Belgrave House is fantastic, situated in a beautiful area, great views. House was spotless, comfortable, well decorated, well equipped. Can't speak highly of it, totally recommend booking this house to anyone! Perfect!!
What a fabulous cottage! Such a beautiful place with everything you need to have the best time! We went as a group of 9 for my birthday and enjoyed every minute of it! The hot tub is gorgeous and well situated in the conservatory area. The bar is a fabulous addition that we enjoyed. All bathrooms are really nice spec with power showers. The most comfortable beds we've had at a holiday cottage too. Its in the perfect spot for walks and exploring. We will absolutely be back! Thank you Belgrave house for some amazing memories xx
Belgrave House is in a lovely village location and has plenty of parking. Peter, the owner, met us and was very helpful and gave us lots of info of places to visit. Although the house is very spacious, it also feels very warm and cosy. It is very well equipped in the kitchen and the bedding and towels are of excellent quality. The hot tub was a big hit with our group and is sited in a warm conservatory. We also very much appreciated the generous welcome hamper. The Blacksmiths Arms is a friendly pub 100yards away. It serves pizzas to eat in or takeaway. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.special thanks to Peter who was friendly helpful and easy to contact throughout our visit.

We had such a lovely stay at Belgrave House. It is a beautiful house, very comfortable and spacious. We were a group of adults and young kids and it suited us perfectly. The welcome hamper and top tips from Terry were an added bonus. Thank you, would highly recommend.
Loved our stay. Great accommodation for large familiesfriendship groups. The house was clean, comfortable and well equipped. The host was very welcoming and attentive. Lots in the area to do and explore. Wed recommend Belgrade House and would be more than happy to stay again if in the area.

Lovely house with lots of amenities and space. Peter was a brilliant host. Perfect stay!
Roberta
My family and I had a wonderful time recently at Belgrave House. We were celebrating a 30th birthday and there was a mix of age groups including very young children and 2 dogs too, the facilities were perfect for all! Everything is very clean and tidy. The bar and hot tub are a bonus! Peter owner and Terry neighbour were both super friendly and helpful with lots of top tips about nice places to visit in the local area. Overall, a wonderful time and would recommend! Thank you
Belgrave House was perfect! Immaculately clean, spacious and decorated tastefully to a high standard. Peter was extremely helpful, showed us how the hot tub worked, and recommended local areas etc. And the welcome pack was a lovely surprise! The kids absolutely loved the hot tub and the bar area. The house was a perfect size for 8 of us, and it was really useful to have 3 shower rooms and 4 toilets!. The beds were really comfortable too. We didn't get a chance to try out the local pubs, but we did visit Low Force and Hight Force waterfalls both stunning!, Teesdale Alpacas, Hamsterley Forest, and a walk around the town of Barnard Castle. The village is quiet, but made a perfect base for exploring the local area, and a playground is just a minute's walk away, which is great for young kids. We'd happily recommend Belgrave House, and hope to return sometime.
We were delighted with every aspect of Belgrave House. The house is absolutely stunning, spotlessly clean and the decor is beautiful. Everyone also commented on how comfortably the beds were! The features of the hot tub and bar space made the whole stay perfect. We were a party of 10 and there was ample space for everyone. Peter was such a good host, he met us on arrival, showed us around and made us feel entirely welcome ... even leaving a welcome basket which was such a classy touch. Can't recommend Belgrave House enough and it's definitely somewhere we would come back to.

Our party of 6 had a great long weekend at Belgrave house. The house was well equipped, nicely furnished and everything was clean and worked as expected. Peter was a welcoming host and made sure we had everything we needed, then left us to it. The location is great, just a couple of minutes walk from two very nice pubs and convenient for exploring High Force and Teesdale. Would highly recommend to anyone looking for a good place to get away as a group.
Samuel
Property was exactly as advertisied. Had been maintained to a really high standard and Peter was on hand to answer any queries. Comes highly recommended.
Property was gorgeously decorated and made to feel so homely. Nothing was to much for Peter when I called to see if he was able to get a travel cot. Everyone absolutely loved the stay here. The location was perfect and the area is gorgeous! Would return happily!
Well positioned, well equipped and comfortable property with ample parking. Owner gave us freedom and trust to use the property for an enjoyable time without too many restrictions and welcomed us on arrival.
Great place, perfect for us, lovely welcoming hamper. Pub just over the road. Stairs steep so might be tricky for elderly guests. Two suggestions shower mat my mother nervous without one & extra chopping boards there were a lot of us to cook for!
Alison
The house was perfect very clean and comfy, with everything we needed and lots of parking. Very comfy beds! Great hot tub and bar area and cosy lounge area with plenty of seating. The surroundings are beautiful and there is plenty to do in the area we visited Barnard Castle, the Bowes Museum, did a really lovely walk to High Force amazing waterfall and a walk down the disused railway line just behind the house. There is also a little play park and small football field just to the back of the house really great for kids. There is a pub just 2 minutes down the road but unfortunately we werent able to go we have 2 small kids but it looks very nice and I read good things about their takeaway pizza in the house guest book. Peter was a really lovely host he met us on arrival and showed us how the hot tub works etc. there was a lovely welcome hamper waiting for us also! Peter is from the area and so is very knowledgable about where to go best parking etc. Overall we had a really wonderful stay and are thinking about returning at some point with a different group x
Louise
What a perfect weekend in a perfect cottage! A group of fortysomethings having a get together with a hot tub, pubs in walking distance and some nice walks in the local area. Tick, tick, tick. Add in your very own bar and a lovely, helpful owner and it is so good, were already planning a return trip. The property is immaculate, well equipped, comfy beds and spacious. I dont know about you, but when youre are heading to self catering type properties youre always wondering, will it have hand towels, tea towels, oven gloves, towels, enough plates and glasses, washing up stuff the list is endless, but the answers are all yes. Thank you Peter for a wonderful stay and your advice on local places to eat out and go for walks and your thoughtful arrival gift. See you again soon.
Had a lovely few days with family at Belgrave House. Peter was very helpful and gave us lots of useful local info. Loved the house, very comfortable and homely and had everything you could need. Because the hot tub was under cover it meant it could be used whatever the weather. Had the best Sunday lunch at The Crown and pizzas from The Blacksmiths Arms very good. Lovely local walks. Go along the old railway line to Middleton and stop at the excellent Samuel James cafe then walk back along the river, lovely area.
We had such an amazing weekend spent at Belgrave House! We were celebrating an 18th birthday and all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Everything about this place was perfect, although having a dryer would be easier for drying towels. The cleanliness was superb and the host Peter was very welcoming and answered all of our enquiries. I would say spend as much time as you can in the house especially the bar or the hot tub, however if you do venture out the two local pubs were lovely. Sunday lunch at The Crown was beautiful and having a pint at the Blacksmith Arms was spot on. We would all definitely recommend staying at this beautiful house and we will 100 be back! Thank you very much for having us! See you again soon!
The property was as described. Beautiful cottage in a beautiful setting. Would definitely recommend and return. The 3 showers were enough for our party of 12. Parking is ample.
Danielle
We had a great weekend at belgrave house for my sisters hen do in July. The house was exactly as described with plenty of space for 12 adults. Peter the host was very helpful, he popped round as we settled in and even helped with a flat tyre problem on departure day when he wasnt even around! The only downside is there isnt much around the house within walking distance apart from 2 pubs, we could have done with a nearby shop. We arrived by mini bus but if we had driven ourselves this wouldnt had been much of a problem. Overall a lovely stay and we will keep this house in mind for future events and occasions.
An amazing property that is clearly maintained to a high level. For the facilities that are provided I think its a fair price to ask. We have stayed in a few selfcatering properties that although, initially were really great, the emphasis is clearly on turn over and not on maintaining the property to the standard you would expect. This is NOT the case with Belgrave House. Situated in beautiful countryside with everything you may need close by. This is one Gem to rant about!
Amazing stay with good friends, the house was brilliant, room for 12 of us to get together. In an amazing area, so peaceful with lots of walks. Peter the owner was brilliant and welcoming even unloaded our sainsburies shop when it arrived early for us! We all had a fabulous weekend & everybody commented on how great the house way. Thanks very much.
Sophie
We stayed here for 2 nights as a group of 12 the house, the welcome and facilities were all fabulous. Would highly recommend, also a beautiful area locally
The property was lovely, clean and nice & warm. The owner was great and very kind and saw that we knew everything we needed to.
Lovely cottage, comfortable and wellequipped, great for our party of 8 adults, 3 children and baby. Loved the bar and the hot tub was a favourite with everyone. Location ideal for a walk at High Force. Excellent Sunday dinner at local pub the Crown
Lovely property, very clean and well maintained. Excellent facilities and hot tub. Very helpful, easily accessible owner and surprise welcome hamper. Beautiful area to explore with a bonus pub on the doorstep. Highly recommended
Lovely friendly host who met us when we arrived and gave us all the information we needed. House is absolutely beautiful and spotlessly clean with loads of little touches. Bed's very comfortable and fantastic hot tub. Bar area was great and well used by us and the extra large cooker fantastic when cooking for a large group. Lovely little village and we had Sunday lunch at the crown pub which is very close by and food was amazing. Excellent stay and we will be back.
Peter was a fantastic host friendly and helpful. Lovely cottage, plenty of space for cooking, dining and relaxing. Great hot tub and bar area. Comfortable beds. Great scenery and fabulous places to visit nearby.
Very nice property would stay again!
Matthew
Fantastic property exactly what we hoped for. All the beds were really comfy, and the bar area and hot tub are a superb addition to the house. The large oven was also really helpful with a number of us all cooking different things at the same time. Host Peter was really helpful. Great location just a short drive into Barnard Castle, with nearby walks and it's worth a short trip up to High Force waterfall.
Belgrave House is ideally located for a break away with lots to do in the surrounding area. There is 2 local pubs that also serve food just a stones throw from the house. Having the spa was great to relax in after an afternoon out and about. Peter was also very easy communicate with for making arrangements prior to arrival.5 stars all round!!
The house was amazing and we had everything that we needed. The hot tub was amazing and we loved the bar area. We all had an amazing experience and would definitely return next year.
Michelle
Absolutely fantastic! Been to a number of holiday houses over the years, but this beats them all! The property is amazing and Peter went out of his way to make sure we were comfortable. Lovely chap. Highly recommend.
