Keepers Cottage Reviews

Our 4 generation family of 10 plus a dog enjoyed our long weekend stay at Keepers Cottage. The cottage was comfortable and plenty big enough for all of us. We used the swimming pool twice and enjoyed the quiet location. The children enjoyed exploring the woods and tarn. As it was quite isolated and a long way from any shops it would have been useful to get some everyday items such as bread, milk and bottles of pop from the onsite shop.

We all had a wonderful few days in keepers cottage. Lovely quiet, pretty location. Many of the party took advantage of the swimming pool at the lakeside hotel and spa which was included in the price and thought it was excellent. Others enjoyed fishing in the tarn which was just across the road from the cottage. The cottage was very clean and well equipped and we loved the open plan area downstairs which was great for our group of 10 to socialise. The central log burner kept all of the downstairs cosy and warm. Simple instructions on how to turn on the hot water and heating would have been useful but that didnt detract from our fabulous stay at the cottage.
I wanted to bring a few issues to your attention regarding our stay Several rooms lacked enough hand towels, not one per guest as expected. The fourth newel post from the top of the staircase is loose and kept coming off in our hands. The plates provided are too large for the dishwasher, preventing the spray arm from spinning properly. And most likely why the cutlery and kitchenware items were not cleaned effectively on arrival. One of the wheels is missing from the dishwasher rack, making it difficult to move in and out. Due to these dishwasher issues, we had to handwash dishes multiple times, which was inconvenient, especially with a group of ten. We wanted to highlight these points so they can be addressed for future guests. Otherwise, we enjoyed our stay and appreciate your hospitality.

The family had a fantastic time in the cottage
Email already sent to property below Hi I am writing to tell you that we left the property this morning as opposed to tomorrow morning. We have left the key in the key box where it was on arrival. I tried to made contact with you yesterday as each time we went to the shop, on both Friday and Saturday it was closed, and then also each time when I drove out to get a signal to call you, there was no one available to take our call, even though it was within the times stated. There were several challengesinconveniences and concerns that we came across over our short stay. The first and most concerning was that the water was really yellow. We were unsure if we could drink this and wanted confirmation. Luckily I had taken 24 small bottles of water to enable us to drink it. Secondly although choosing not to drink the water, we felt sure it was safe to showerbath in it, however there was no running hot water and the radiators were cold constantly despite turning the thermostat up which was outside the downstairs double bedroom as described. To keep warm, we put the fire on using the logs provided to keep the baby and the room warm for us all. The bedrooms were still very cold once the temperature dropped early evening though. Our son, his wife and baby left after the first night due to the cold house and not being able to bath the baby. When I left a voicemail for you explaining the situation about the water etc, I also mentioned the wifi, as our phones connected to the wifi you have at the house but we couldnt access anything from it, meaning we had no way of contacting anyone and no one could contact us if there was an emergency. I know phone service cannot be guaranteed, but we have stayed in many remote places where there has been no phone signal, but wifi has always been accessible in the properties. Later yesterday, having looked through the manual as we couldnt make contact or get a response from you, my husband had to go into the cupboard and found a button which made the radiators come on for one hour, which then gave us some hot running water. This was enough to allow a couple of the adults to shower, although too late for my son and his family as they had decided to end their weekend away by this point. We didnt try this earlier as it clearly states not to touch anything other than the thermostat and I didnt want him to press anything else after that one occasion. On a positive note, the facilities that were in the property regarding the bedrooms and kitchen equipment were exceptional and plentiful. The beds were comfy and showers, bathrooms and kitchen were clean. I have left the property with very mixed feelings. We were fortuitous with the weather and the beautiful surroundings, however, the concerns, which I think are quite valid made for a very fractious and frustrating weekend. I feel that paying a significant amount for a weekend away shouldnt have been met with so many issues. I would love to hear your views on our findings and our stay. Kind regards Lisa
Amazing property. A perfect base camp for us to have a couple of good days runningwalking and relax in the evenings. The owner was also really helpful allowing us to check out slightly later so we could get another run in on Sunday! A great weekend, highly recommend.

Great property, lovely grounds and facilities. Wish we had known re the pool probably didnt read it properly!!

The advert is deceiving how close it is to shops etc I took my learning disability home there and we really struggled to even get food shopping due to taxis being extremely limited It is worth noting how far amenities are away the farm shop shouldnt count . Overall the cottage is lovely but if you have no transport you really are isolated.
Great property. Lovely location. We all had a lovely time.
Lovely cottage in a wonderful location. Would stay again. Worth noting that there is not an enclosed garden area for dogs children which isn't mentioned in the listing, it has access straight onto the road.
