Woodland Cottages at Rowan, Windermere

Absolutely love our stay amazing value for money

We had a wonderful stay at this cottage in Windermere. The house was lovely, beautifully presented and had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing break. It felt like a real home away from home. The staff were excellent and always just a phone call away if we needed anything, making the whole experience completely stressfree. The location was brilliant, with easy access to Windermere, local shops, restaurants, and all the stunning walks and attractions the Lake District has to offer. We couldn't have asked for a better base to explore the area. The hot tub was a great luxurious addition which we thoroughly enjoyed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would happily return.

Great location, reasonably priced and excellent lodge. Great layout, nice hot tub and fire.

Taps have been plumbed incorrectly got and cold and the cold and hot! Bedrooms are small particularly the downstairs one Well equipped kitchen Not sure it would be very comfortable with 10 adults far too small

We were celebrating a family birthday 10 in total and there was plenty of space for us all. Excellent facilities and well equipped. Highly recommended

On arrival the property appeared to be good, we had a tx message to let us know that we could go to the property at 14. 00 which was great. We stayed in this property last year but feel that it is now in need of a revamp we felt that the oven was inefficient for 10 people and we also had a problem with the dish washer but spoke to the maintenance man and he sorted this out, he also provided us with an air fryer. We cleaned up on our last day but had to clean out the vacuum cleaner before we could use it. Last year we had a tumble dryer in the property but they have had a new washer without tumble dryer which is needed for a family of 10 in October Half Term

Great place for a family gathering and celebration. Clean, warm and very well equipped. Everyone loved how comfortable the beds were hence we all slept very well! Hot tub was loved by all and it was great to see it was checked every day really friendly chap. Surrounding area was beautiful, and it was very easy to get into Bowness, about a 20 minute walk downhill, the walk back was a good workout though, but a taxi only costs 6.

Stunning and owners were so helpful whenever we needdd them fabulous stay!

We had a wonderful week. Very peaceful location with great outdoor space which was perfect for 2 young children. Good facilities overall. Particularly with 2 young children it was too far to walk into Bowness but was only a short drive. Great central location base for getting out and about. Would definitely recommend and we are likely to rebook. Thank you!

We had a great stay in Rowan cottage. The cottage was well equipped. The only issues we had were that the can opener did not work and the vacuum cleaner had no suction. We also discovered on the first night that the hot and cold on the wet room wash basin taps are the wrong way round. I am sure someone else must have noticed this.

Absolutely loved our stay at Rowen Cottage so much so that we have already booked for next year. The layout of the cottage is great for us. It is very central to all the places that you would want to visit in the Lake District. We only have one negative point and that is you are unable to get into the property before 5pm and in the October half term it is dark outside on arrival.

We booked Rowan Cottage for a weekend break to celebrate our Mum's 84th birthday, party of 9 so it ticked all the boxes. Had a truly fantastic weekend what a beautiful place to stay, cottage itself is perfect for 10 people. Lots of space, all the rooms a good size and all the beds really comfortable everyone had great nights sleep. Perfect amount of bathrooms for a large group, and with my dad being 91 the walk in shower in the down stairs ensuite was ideal. Also with my dad at his tender age he really feels the cold so the log burner was actually put to use on the Friday night to thaw him out! Plenty of crockery and equipment in the kitchen and good size as we had full cooked breakfast each day, on that note I had totally forgot about ordering some of the breakfast packs offered by the estate so I actually popped into that butchers on the way past Staveley. Can highly recommend ordering their food it is a top class butcher, the cumberland sausage was amazing as was everything else, was gutted they don't open on a Monday as had planned on picking up some steaks on the way home. Cottage is in a beautiful estate the grounds are lovely, the hot tub wonderful and the ducks too cute! Perfect base for exploring and always spoilt for choice for pubs and restaurants in Bowness you can't go wrong. Most importantly my mum had a truly wonderful weekend and loved staying here. Will definitely be returning for another stay

Great customer service. Lovely place to stay. Would highly recommend to others. Every utensil possible was supplied. Plenty of crockery. Just an amazing experience. Lovely gift left and gift arranged. Thank you very much.

Rowan was perfect for our stay! Comfortable, clean and spacious. We had 10 guests stay and didnt feel crowded. The bedrooms were great sizes, as were the living room and kitchen area. Outside was brilliant with the hot tub and the weather made it even better. Great distance from Bowness the walk down is very short, however VERY hilly on the way back. We will definitely be back!

Lovely as we remember it and a nice touch with tea, coffee and milk etc.

Possibly the best equipped self catering we have stayed at. So many thoughtful additions. Everything we could possibly need. Excellent and the hot tub very popular! Sarah was very helpful in advance with info on local eateries and things to do not to mention being greeted with some gingerbread! Not sure if that was just good timing on our arrival but lovely! It was a long weekend break to celebrate our golden wedding Easter Saturday and we prebooked a family run Italian in Bowness for the evening which was perfect. Party of 8 ranging from 17 to 72. All very impressed with accommodation. Hot tub extremely popular! Lovely bonus. Ideally we would have liked an earlier check in time than 5 pm but we planned around it. We had decided to do trip into Coniston on route to see Bluebird but we received a message from Sarah just before to say we'd be ok from 1 pm which worked perfectly. We decided to drop our things off on way then go to Coniston. The accommodation was so lovely we forgot we'd planned Coniston! Suddenly remembered and jumped car arriving at 4 pm to catch last hour which was fine. The younger element of party were arriving in evening after work aiming straight for hot tub!.... During our stay we did a boat ride to Ambleside, a good explore around Bowness and a walk into Windermere and up to Orrel Head. We did walk everywhere locally and distances given all good, however it is the Lakes and accommodation a good stroll uphill but well worth the effort. It is quite a strenuous walk but we were all fine although dare I say the elders coped rather better than the younger element in the group! A really lovely stay. Thank you!

Had an amazing time with my group of friends. Perfect location too. Would 100 return back

A fantastic stay at Rowan Cottage. Wonderful facilities and equipped with everything you could wish for a comfortable break. The standard of cleanliness and attention to detail was impressive. We all loved the hot tub, especially in the evening we made great family memories over the weekend. The Oaks Country Estate is a lovely place and we will definitely be returning as soon as we can!

We had a super stay at RowanWoodland Cottages. A couple of minor problems were sorted out speedily by the management and maintenance team...which was great. Thank you. We all commented on the comfort of the beds and the hot tub was enjoyed by all! A stay here is highly recommended.

A great cottage in a beautiful location plenty of space and well equipped the hot tub was a bonus well maintained and extremely comfortable lovely well kept grounds around the property the staff and maintenance team were extremely helpful and friendly.

Had a lovely time, the assistance beforehand was great. Only thing missing was the personal touch, e.g. welcoming us when we arrived. A larger welcoming present e.g. with the essentials more biscuits, tea bags, chocolate, sweets. Ducks are nice but leaving mess on patio, maybe a pooper scooper to clean up. Dressing gowns for hot tub would be a luxury or even hot tub towels.

Very well set out and perfect groundssetting for our family. Throughly enjoyed our stay and would book again.

We had a lovely family holiday at Rowan. The requests for arrangements to accommodate our 2 year old grandson highchair, stargates were helpfully met by the team. Thanks for making our stay so enjoyable.

Lovely place. Well maintained and equipped. Perfect location with lovely views. Only a 20 minute walk into Bowness. Sarah and her team were very helpful and friendly. Can't wait go again. Thank you

Had an amazing holiday, very relaxing and beautiful weather. Toaster was abit faffy when making food and the knob kept pinging off one of the handles, either toasts to burnt or warm bread. hot tub could of been slightly cooler yes this is us been picky but with the heat it was unbearable to then sit in at all. window in living room needs fixing as it is blown and ruins the vibe when looking out across the grounds. overall amazing cottage, spacious and very well looked after.

I have stayed at the oaks cottages x3 times now and can never fault it. I booked Rowan lodge for a family get together, there were 8 ladies all together and we all had the best time. We stayed for 2 nights. The lodge was very clean & set in lovely grounds. The hot tub was an added bonus, being able to sit and chill out. Everything was spot on and I'll definitely be back again for future events.

We had a lovely stay over Easter at Rowan. Family get together consisting of 6 adults and 3 children. The house was clean, comfortable and spacious. Plenty of outdoor space for the children to play, even an Easter egg trail in the wooded area! The hot tub was an added bonus! Would definitely recommend The Oaks, we will try and come back soon!

Absolutely incredible place to stay. We had an amazing holiday here. Its was so clean and have everything we needed during our stay. Brilliant location a short walk down to lake Windermere. The hot tub was also great!

Fabulous stay at The Oaks. We came here a few years ago and it was just as gorgeous this time around. The lodges are gorgeous and the perfect setting for a winter break especially as we were lucky enough for snow! Maintenance came and checked the hot tub every day and the log burner was a real treat. Each room in the lodge is set out very carefully and everything was just perfect, comfortable beds and plenty of cooking things. I would highly recommend booking any of these cottages any time of the year. Weve stayed in many places around the world in different locations and I honestly think being in the lakes is one of the best places!! These lodges are close enough to walk taxi to the restaurants and lake Bowness in 5 min taxi but to enjoy the peace and quiet surrounding the complex.

Fabulous as always!

Lovely property, located within a good walking distance from the town. Lovely area. Would definitely recommend, would love to come back again

Thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Lovely quiet place to stay. I really enjoyed the hottub but could have had a little more privacy

We have just come back from a family holiday in the lakes, staying in Rowan, for my mums 70th birthday. The house had everything we needed. Lots of space. We enjoyed the hot tub. I had thought we might be able to walk to Bowness and although this wouldve been possible, it would have been a hike back. We would definitely recommend this accommodation for big family groups.

Perfect location for families. We travelled there with 6 boys 2 families the area was safe for the kids to play. The house had all the things we needed, the jacuzzi was checked everyday and cleaned at the end for the next guests. Bowness is a short 5 min drive away. I would highly recommend this place and hope to return.

The accomodation is beautiful, quiet and clean. There are also utensils which you can use to cook. Although we had a problem during our second day regarding the lack of water supply in the area, they are very accomodating and provided us with water to drink. I would highly recommend this place.

Location, cottage, facilities are brilliant, clean and well maintained and we all had a lovely relaxing holiday.

Family celebration was made all the more special by the beautiful setting of this lodge and the facilities offered. All the family were able to come together for the special occasion due to the facilities offered.

Lovely property, everything needed for a comfortable stay. Clean, tidy and well equipped.

We absolutely love our stay, you had everything we needed. We lost power on Monday morning and your response was timely and reassuring, you went above and beyond ensuring our holiday did not come to an end.

Fabulous place, great for our family break. we went to celebrate my husbands and my birthdays. there were 3 families of 6 adults and 3 children, everyone loved it especially the hot tub and would like to have stayed longer. My husband is reliant on oxygen, we were very anxious about going away, but everything went well. even accommodating all the oxygen equipment he needed. nothing was to much trouble. I would love to go again.
