Wykefield Reviews

Bethany
This was our 5th stay at Wykefield and we have already booked our next one! We love this house, the views, the peace, the wildlife and the walks right from the doorstep. We cant wait to be back here again.
Fabulous property, stunning views! Very well equipped kitchen to enable catering for all guests, which some properties lack. Generous sized bedrooms. Within walking distance of two great pubs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, especially looking out from the bifold doors to the fantastic scenery.
Everything was great, we all loved the house and its location. Views were stunning and as it was February, the open fire was put to good use. Would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time celebrating our friends 60 birthday and friends get together before Christmas. The house was perfect and as we all live in different directions in the UK was a great meeting point. One suggestion I would make is Please make the signage to the house more noticeable maybe lit up at night I was travelling by myself in the dark and made good time but then spent 40 minutes looking for the house. A light on the Wykefield sign on the garage would really help. The house itself is gorgeous
Another great week at Wykefield. Very enjoyable!
The place was great, suited us well for the week we were there. The property was as well equipped to enhance the comfort level that we had. PS The en suite fan did not switch off, it may need looking at?
Lovely house in a fantastic location very well appointed and great views of the lake and surrounding hills. You can even walk to get a great coffee at Hill Top the nearby National Trust house !
Joanne
Stunning property. Beautiful location . Fabulous kitchen extension where we could all gather Comfortable beds. A fabulous week for our extended family.
Absolutely charming house! Very well laid out, thoughtfully designed, keeping all family needs in mind and amid a gorgeous setting. Loved it!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful period home so much so that we extended our stay! The interior was charming and thoughtfully styled, creating a perfect mix of comfort and character. The house was very wellequipped with every amenity you could think of from highquality linen to a fully stocked kitchen, board games, books and cosy living spaces to enjoy the serenity. The house has been very well maintained. The WiFi worked seamlessly both upstairs and downstairs, which was a big plus for a few guests working remotely from the property. We especially enjoyed spending time with family, going on lovely outings followed by long, relaxed lunches. Watching bunnies hop through the backyard added a magical touch to our mornings in a home where Beatrix Potter once stayed. This place really felt like a home away from home. Highly recommended!
Assunta
Excellent house with superb views. The house was very well equipped and comfortable. Good location.
Without a doubt the best property we have rented in the last 30 years of coming to the Lake District. The duvet in our bedroom was too thick and lumpy but that was our only criticism.
Mitchell
We enjoyed our time at Wykefield. We think it's important to highlight that some pictures of the outside of the property on the website are misleading. You see the whole house structure, but half of the building is the Esk Wyke Country House Hotel. The windows facing out the downstairs 'nook', the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom all overlook the hotel car park. People are coming and going from there at all hours. You should be aware of that prior to booking. The main attraction of the house is the extension with the elongated dining room and kitchen which is lovely. The extra fridgefreezer in the garage is not mentioned in the description and would have been really useful to have known about when planning food to take. The tennis table in the garage is not very nice and bendy, so wasn't useable. The beds were comfortable. Despite the water being nonmains supplied, the pressure was great and reliable. The appliances all worked well and we liked the utilities. There's lots of board games, DVDs, maps, interesting books and a wellequipped kitchen. As pleasant, well equipped and thought out as the house is, we feel it's expensive for what you get. There's no proper games room or other facilities that for 2,500week you should be getting at this range. This is a nice house, and a really great stay, but not at this cost. Especially with the hotel at peak season next door, with their suite windows overlooking the garden you're relaxing in. It's a wellplaced location with several walks, towns and facilities nearby. It's of note that Beatrix Potter stayed in this house prior to it being half hotel and decided she wanted to live in the Lakes because of it! Esthwaite Water, which the garden overlooks, is privately owned and inaccessible so it's for view only. Overall, this is a good stay but pricey for what you get.
Extremely well equipped, very clean, tastefully decorated and in a beautiful location.
We loved our stay in your property thanks for renting it out! Such a beautiful house and location. It had everything we needed for a really great stay BBQ, great kitchen facilities, lots of living space for a big group
We had a lovely stay in Wykefield. There is a lot of space for all the family. We took our 2 youngest sons, their partners and two grandchildren. Our 15 month old grandson absolutely loved having all that space to explore, he was so happy
Amazing property would definitely recommend it
Hannah
We really loved our stay here and appreciate in particular all of the luxury, homely touches. The location was so good that it was practically shown in the World of Beatrix Potter museum well the view was. Everything felt thought of, and made our stay just perfect. We have stayed in a lot of Airbnbs and Sykes Cottages but this was our favourite so far and would love to return. Unfortunately we parked in the neighbour's space it seemed empty and unkept so assumed it was available next to our garden, if you could maybe be a bit more explicit on where we can park that would be great as he seemed fine with us pulling up alongside the garage in the courtyard instead. There is space for 2 cars by the front door but a bit trickier for a 3rd. We can't unfortunately return during the summer months as the garden is not suitable for children the sheer drops are even more severe than I realised at booking. There's a park on your doorstep to take the kids out for a run around! Thanks again and hope to book again!
We loved the place. Helpful feedback would be to include logs within the price. Safety rails on the patio, although I know it would spoil the view, so maybe some safety paint to mark the edges. Otherwise it exceeded our expectations.
Wykefield is an absolutely lovely property, wonderful views over the lake, peaceful location and plenty for the family to do both inside and outside! We will definitely book again!!
Beautiful holiday home in a lovely part of the Lakes. Three generations of one family had a fantastic week here. We would love to return and would definitely recommend.
Barbara
A beautiful house in a wonderful setting, combine this with lovely weather it ... A beautiful house in a wonderful setting, combine this with lovely weather it made for a great holiday for 3 generations celebrating 3 special birthdays, many thanks
Edward
Our first stay at Wakefield was a truly memorable one. The property was extremely comfortable and well appointed, the view from the back of the house exceeded expectations and the owners had catered for all eventualities. We had three generations in the party and everyone enjoyed their stay immensely. We hope to return!
Excellent property, facilities and location, could not have done better for an extended family break in the Lakes.
Bethany
This was our 4th visit to Wykefield and the first time we have been away for Christmas and we really appreciated the Christmas decorations, card, chutney and chocolates from the owners Ken and Fiona. We love this property, it is peaceful, warm, incredibly wellequipped and we love the beautiful views. We loved every minute of our Christmas break and are very grateful to have been able to enjoy time away here again.
Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Wykecliff. We wanted somewhere special to stay to celebrate a special family birthday and it did not disappoint . Comfortable , cosy and stylish in keeping with a period house in an amazing location with stunning views and walks from the doorstep . We enjoyed lots of cherished family time packed with fun games , lots of laughs , good food and fresh air in a beautiful setting . Whats not to love! Highly recommended
Andrea
Lovely property. Best weve stayed in, though affordable and good value 1st week November, less so in high season. Shame we couldnt experience the outdoor space which was very enticing with lovely views as it rained almost all week. But it was November afterall. Tastefully decorated, lovely bathrooms and exotic downstairs loo, and very well equipped kitchen. Plenty of fridge and freezer space with 2nd in the outbuilding with table tennis table. Spacious utility room with lots of drying space for coats and boots. Only suggestions to improve what was a great experience. Pasta bowls and a coffee pod machine.
We were absolutely thrilled and we hope to come back next summer!
The house and view were second to none! ! Gorgeous pastoral view from the living area and kitchen as well as patio. Furnishings were lovely, kitchen extremely well equipped.
Catherine
Wykefield was very clean, stylishly furnished and extremely well equipped. The location, outside space and views are absolutely superb. We loved everything about it. There was plenty of space, seating and kitchen equipment for 8 guests. All in all, a totally relaxing holiday and I can't wait to return!
The cleanliness of this property was poor compared with our previous visit. Key things bathrooms, beds and kitchen were good but dust and cobwebs in every room. Chiids hand prints on all floor level windows and TV screens.
Kirsty
We loved our stay at Wykefield. The views were outstanding and the house was perfect for our family celebrations, thank you very much.
Andrew
Amazing place, the whole family loved it. We will be back often.
Beautiful property, comfort, furnishings and equipment all top notch. You can see a lot of effort and thought has been put into the house.
Michelle
A beautiful, elegant house, with spectacular views of the lake and wonderful facilities, within easy walking distance to a great local pub, we will certainly be back .
Elaine
An absolutely fabulous holiday property inside and out, with breath taking views. It had the wow factor and was perfect in very way! Amazing walks from the door and good location for exploring this part of the Lakes but to be honest we were always glad to get back to the house just to enjoy the garden, the views and it's tranquillity. The.only downside is that when I got back home and went to book the property again for next year at about the same time, the weekly price had increased by over 700. I was expecting an increase but its way over our budget now. I'm absolutely gutted that this was probably our first and last time to stay in this wonderful place.
This is our fifth Lakelovers holiday and we have enjoyed everyone.
What a stunning place! Stunningly beautiful setting. We had a perfect relaxing Christmas and could not have asked for more. The house is extremely well equipped.
Dreamy family holiday. Great house, lovely atmosphere and perfect distance from the pub. 100 chance of us coming back. Thanks a million.
Great Cottage. Third visit for us and not the last. Comfortable beds and plenty to do
