Bracken Howe Reviews

Charlie
Was really clean and tidy and it has everything that we needed, lovely place and kids really enjoyed the holiday
Leonard
Although a little old fashioned in decor the house had it's own beauty. Facilities, cleanliness and comfort levels were high with excellent provision of kitchen utensils and cutlery. The welcome pack was a generous and gracious touch from owners who obviously wished the visitors an enjoyable stay. We certainly had that! The hot tub was not used as much as desired due to the inclement weather but would be a great bonus in more favourable conditions. No negatives so would highly recommend to anyone wishing to stay and enjoy what the fabulous Lake District has to offer.

I think this is probably the best holiday home Ive stayed in, and one of the few I would definitely return to it really felt more like an expensive boutique hotel. Whoever is responsible for maintenance, cleaning and general upkeep of the house and garden is doing a really splendid job, and it is unusually thoughtfully equipped. Someone obviously really cares about the house and the needs of the guests.
Jonathan
Lovely place, better than described as it has had a cosmetic facelift that brightened the place up. We were a party varying from 12 to 80 years old and no complaints. Hot tub popular with younger ones.
Andrew
Beautiful spacious and well equipped house, which easily accommodates 10 adults for home cooking, eating and relaxing. Hot tub and lovely garden are great way to relax after long walks. The high quality welcome pack and flowers are such a lovely surprise. And such a quiet setting while having the benefit of being close to the middle of Ambleside. We hope to return!
A wonderful house, comfortable and well appointed. Thoroughly enjoyed by the whole family ranging from 11 to 78. We would all love to visit again. Another bonus was being able to do long challenging walks, straight from the house, without having to drive. Also extremely convenient for the shops and restaurants. An clothes airer in the utility room would be great.
Our second stay here with our family, including 4 grandchildren, and it is a really lovely house to stay in for a Lakes holiday. Plenty of equipment, large kitchen, toys, games, entertainment consoles and hot tub. Even in October it was a treat to be able to use it as the weather was very kind to us! Beautifully clean, comfortable beds and complimentary hamper and toiletries. Plus a welcome vase of flowers. Only minus was the noisy road sweeper in the car park at 6 in the morning! Lovely to hear the owls and see the bats on Halloween. Plenty of easy walks from the house too. We were very thankful to be allowed to use an outside plug to slow charge our car.
Fabulous place to stay. Very well stocked and plenty of space for everyone. Beautifully maintained property. We aim to have our family holiday here again.
The best house we have ever stayed in in the Lakes. There was every thing we needed and more. The welcome hamper was great and a real treat. Sitting in the hot tub watching the planes fly overhead was brilliant. Even though we were in Ambleside, the house was so private and quiet. Ambleside has so many great restaurants and shops we didnt need to go far. There are so many walks from our door we didnt really need to use the car much. If you want something different go to Yew Tree farm for the Herdwick experience which was fantastic.
All that were on the Holiday had a brilliant time. The house was clean, spacious and had everything we needed. The garden and hot tub were awesome and coupled with the excellent weather, our trip could not have been more perfect. Close to the centre of Ambleside so we had all the amenities on our doorstep. I would highly recommend this property for a memorable trip to the outstanding Lake District.
Everything was top class the comfort of ALL the beds, the hot tub, the dining space, the comfort of the living room and all the kitchen equipment. The dishwasher is the best I've ever used. The kitchen had EVERYTHING you could possibly need. The only thing that I couldn't find was a seive to drain my pasta I used a vegetable steaming pan but I discovered many seives in the cupboard by the sink on the last day! We hope to come back sometime but getting the 10 of us together was the tricky bit only 9 of us made it this time. One suggestion You have the most fabulously detailed information about everything in the house I read it all throughout the week but I could have done with a quick, idiot's guide for using things like the oven, TV, dishwasher etc. Also, the light over the dining room door to the patio We couldn't find a switch anywhere but thought the decking steps could have been quite dangerous without one We had our own lamp with us but others might not. We were all very impressed that a house of this calibre was available to hire for holidays. Thank you so much for sharing what really is a luxurious home from home.
This was another great family week at Bracken Howe in glorious Ambleside and we feel it is now our second home. The house is grandly spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Cold sunny days and we still made good use of the hot tub every day.
