Hollens Cottage Reviews

This is our second visit to Hollens Cottage and again did not disappoint. Cottage was clean and with all the facilities we needed and is in a great location for exploring the Lakes.
Angela
Hollens Cottage had everything we needed. It was super clean, beautiful throughout, lots of board games, a well stocked kitchen and most importantly for us, comfortable beds. The location is perfect, we started many walks from the cottage, so no need to drive and pay for parking. We loved it so much weve already booked to stay next year as well.
A beautiful cottage perfect walking distance for walks from centre of Grasmere. We were lucky with the weather too which made our stay extra special. Thank you!
Weve now visited this lovely cottage twice and have thoroughly enjoyed both stays. Its in a fantastic location with great views, making it a perfect base for exploring the surrounding area, and we would happily return again in the future. We were even lucky enough to spot a red squirrel during our stay, which made it feel extra special. The kitchen is particularly well equipped, with everything needed for a comfortable and convenient stay. The only small points we would mention are that this is the only property weve stayed in that didnt provide a welcome packsomething simple like a bottle of milk would be greatly appreciated, especially after a long journey. Additionally, we found the upstairs bedrooms to be quite cold, even with the radiators on, which could be improved for added comfort. That aside, we had a wonderful time and would definitely recommend the cottage
Bethany
Perfect place to stay for our family of 7, including a baby and a dog! The house was immaculate, super cosy and warm and we felt right at home from the moment we arrived. The kitchen is well equipped, the living room a great space for large groups, and all the bathrooms were immaculate. Location is great for pottering around Grasmere, as well as many walks, big or small! Would definitely stay again. NB. There is definitely only space for 2 cars on the drive we had a third car which thankfully managed to get a spot in the layby just 200 metres up the road.

This was our second stay at Hollens Cottage as a small group of friends and we like it a lot. It is warm, comfortable, clean and well equipped the kitchen particularly so. The one thing it misses to make it properly cozy is a real fire! Its position is really good, as you can easily walk the 12 mile across the fields into the village centre, as well as straight out onto the fells and being on the edge of the village, its beautifully dark and quiet at night. We could well be back next year!
We are frequent visitors to the Lakes and have stayed in lots of different places. Booking the cottage was easy and all the pre holiday information was accurate and useful. This cottage was perfect for our holiday from the minute we arrived. The parking is great and the location for walking into Grasmere. It was nice not having to use the car in order to get to walks eg Helms Crag etc. The accommodation is great and there is plenty of space. It was nice and clean too. The kitchen is so well equipped for everything and the washer and dryer most useful. We loved the window seat in the lounge. We had fantastic weather all week and the cottage was so comfortable we didn't want to leave. Would book again and would highly recommend as place to stay. The Yan is worth a visit....only a few minutes drive away and they serve an amazing breakfast. All in all we had a fantastic family holiday.....thankyou
Just returned from a 1 week stay at Hollens Cottage 4 adults and 2 dogs This was PERFECT for our stay, the location was ideal, just a 5 minute easy walk into the village, ample parking for 3 cars large cars as well the enclosed outdoor space was perfect for the dogs and we were blessed with some lovely weather so were able to sit outside and enjoy it The property was clean with plenty of space for us all without us feeling like we were in each others way The internet was as needed and the kitchen had everything you could ask for Watching the sheep and red squirrels from the living room window nook was a bonus! Would 100 stay again
Hollens Cottage was a fantastic find in Grasmere. Location was perfect being on the edge of the village, only a short walk into the centre. Beds were comfortable, plenty of space for 6 in the lounge and kitchen, and the crockery etc in the kitchen was plentiful. I would highly recommend a stay at Hollens Cottage.
Karen Elizabeth
Lovely cottage. Very comfortable. Beds comfy. In a lovely situation. Parking for 2 cars. Enclosed garden area. Homely feel. Kitchen very well appointed with loads of space. This is the nicest holiday cottage weve stayed in as I got the impression that the owners wanted us to be comfortable. Good standards throughout. Warmly recommend.

Robert
Had a fantastic stay, loverly clean house. Superb location for loads of walks, flat or mountainous. Short, pleasant walk to Grassmere. Very nice pubs and shops. Only small gripe would be the shower above the bath, no pressure. All in all, I would definitely recommend and would definitely come back. We didnt do all the walks, Wainwrights or pubs in the area so might have to.
Lovely house in a great location. We didnt feel that the photos online really did it justice. Felt the price was very good for the size of the house and range of accommodation. The kitchen was amazingly well stocked with utensils etc. Only criticisms would be the beds were creaky and there was a little bit of mildew in our bathroom but other than that it was fabulous. Would definitely recommend as a brilliant base for exploring the lakes. Grasmere village is lovely with a surprisingly good range of shops and amenities. Nice to be a bit out of the main tourist centres.
Were frequent visitors to Grasmere and this cottage was perfect. Great location and setting, very well maintained and all the facilities we needed for a wonderful holiday.
Excellent location with parking. Short walk to Grasmere. Lovely cottage. Clean. Well equipped. Excellent communication from host who quickly helped resolve an issue with dishwasher not working isolator switched off. Would definitely stay again. Only suggested improvement a door between kitchen and hall rather than current curtain. Was difficult to keep dogs in kitchen at night without a door. Even a baby gate would help. Not sure if not having a kitchen door is compliant with current fire regulations but I may be mistaken.
Olivia
Absolutely loved our stay at Hollens Cottage. Hollens Cottage was beautiful and plenty of space for 6. It was the best appointed accomodation we've stayed in. Everything we needed! It's a short picturesque walk to Grasmere and plenty of walks on the doorstep. We were blessed with wonderful weather and enjoyed sitting outside in the enclosed garden, taking in the views of Grasmere Wonderful holiday, we will be booking again for next year!
Loved this cottage! Great location just a 10 minute walk into Grasmere across the field also short walk to the Sun Inn. Large fully equipped kitchen and comfortable beds definitely will be staying again.
This lovely cottage is well equipped and maintained and made our stay in Grasmere a very memorable one. The location suited us, being just a short walk to the village centre and the excellent weather was an added bonus.
Brilliant property. 2 families and 2 dogs. Plenty of space, really well appointed with everything you could want. Location is perfect, short walk to the village. Would definitely recommend.
Kirsty
A lovely well equipped, comfortable cottage with idyllic views.
What a beautiful, characterful, Lakeland Cottage. What a Gem. The views are stunning. Everything about the cottage was perfect. It had a lovely feel to it and was lovely and warm. The kitchen was well stocked with all the things you need and more! All the beds were super comfortable with equally comfortable bed linen and very large bath towels. There was a great selection of games in the cupboards and drawers if you wished to spend time with familyfriends after a busy day out and about. Plenty of room to put coats and boots. Cosy lounge with comfortable seating. It felt like stepping back in time with the trinkets and pictures. Loved the private sitting out area at the back but also had a quirky cottage garden at the front with a small bench to take in the spectacular views. There are so many more positive things I could say. We all loved it. Definitely would stay here again.
Robert
We loved our stay here. Comfortable, close to the town but quiet and with great views from the windows. Very well equipped kitchen but we would suggest the provision of a couple of large serving spoons and a grater.
Susanna
We were four friends spending a few days together in Grasmere and Hollens Cottage provided the perfect base. A characterful old house, it was beautifully warm and snug though the weather was pretty chilly. We were blessed with dry weather so were out walking every day, but had it been wet, we could happily have spent the time in the cottage! We had everything we needed the kitchen was well equipped, the comfy sitting room was well supplied with games and books nothing to fault and we would happily book to stay again.
Hilary
We really enjoyed our week in Hollens Cottage. Lovely house, very well equipped , comfortable and perfect location for walking into Grasmere.
Richard
We were really pleased with the property which had everything we needed for our stay. Would certainly recommend this property to friends and family if they are planning to stay in the Lake District.
Very comfortable. The bedroom in the basement could have a mirror nearer to the free sockets to make hair drying easier we had a long lead. The light outside the garage was on permanently but was no longer on when we left, bulb given up maybe? Takes a few minutes to locate and work out what light switches work what lights. These are MINOR points, it is a welcoming property we have stayed in often and hope to in the future
Comfortable and ideally situated short walk to village We have been staying in ... Comfortable and ideally situated short walk to village We have been staying in Grasmere for 40 years now and this is up there with the best accommodation Will return
