Burnt Mill Cottage Reviews

The accommodation was exactly as described and requested. Four big bedrooms afforded us lots of space, and the ensuite, main bathroom and additional WCShower room worked perfectly for us. Ample room for social eating and entertaining and with a bootroom as well unused it would be perfect for hikerswalkers. David, our host was very nice, and the owners also kindly gave us some welcome goodies that were much appreciated. A really first rate accommodation for the South Lakes area.
Burnt Mill was just right for our family get together, the adventurous ones enjoyed trekking in the hills and fells, and a rowing trip on Lake Windermere. For those who love outdoor activities this is a great location. There are also gentler walks for the less active! Sedbergh has a good selection of independent shops and is a short drive, or a 34 mile walk along the riverside, away. We all had a lovely stay.
Burnt Mill is a beautifully decorated cottage in a great location. It has bags of character and lovely features. The owners were so kind and helpful. Recommended.
Elizabeth
Lovely cottage, very well equipped and the owners were very helpful.
Burnt Mill Cottage is a lovely, wellequipped cottage in a great location. The owner, David, gave us some history of the building and useful tips for exploring. There was everything we needed for our stay and the logburner made it very cosy. The welcome pack was very much appreciated! Would definitely recommend to others and will look to return in warmer, drier weather to see more of the wonderful hills and dales.
Elizabeth
We had a wonderful stay at Burnt Mill Cottage. The location is quiet and peaceful, just a 15minute walk into town along a lovely river path. Andi & David have clearly put a lot of thought into making the cottage feel like a home from home, with a muchappreciated welcome pack on arrival. The garden is perfect for sitting out and is safely enclosed, which was ideal for our dog. One thing to be aware of is that there isnt a washing machine, though there is a clothes hanger and a whirligig provided. Sedbergh itself is a pleasant town, though dining options are a little limited, but the surrounding countryside more than makes up for it truly stunning. Would happily recommend Burnt Mill Cottage for a relaxing break.
We had a lovely stay at Burnt Mill Cottage. The accommodation was really comfortable, clean and spacious. The owners were very nice and were there to welcome us at check in, lots of useful information regarding the house and local area. We mostly enjoyed days out in the Lake District but Sedbergh is very pretty and we enjoyed walking into the town along the river. Thanks for a great stay!
Spotlessly clean and comfortable cottage with everything we could possibly need provided.
Benjamin
We had a fantastic stay at Burnt Mill cottage, the location is stunning and reasonable distance from nearby villages and sight seeing spots. Its very clean and well equipped for all our self catering needs and is beautifully furnished. David and Andi were really kind and helpful to us. Thank you for a wonderful stay.
Rebecca
We absolutely loved our stay in burnt mill cottage! The facilities were great enclosed garden for the dog, lots of comfortable seating areas for a large group, lovely and cosy, comfortable beds & very well equipped kitchen! Not complaints but just to be aware there were lots of blue bottles and flies in the twin bedroom which might be worth looking into. The cleaners also entered the property at 9.45am while we were packing up our cars and emptying the fridge etc it felt like a very rushed and unrelated exit after such a wonderful relaxing time at your property. Might be an idea to ask them to wait until 10am and allow everyone to exit the property first. I wanted to leave a lovely message in the guest book but felt I couldnt as they had already entered and started to clean up around is before the agreed exit time. Just a shame to feel stressed leaving the house after such a relaxing stay! Again, not a complaint just a tip to make the stay even more enjoyable for future guests. Thank you for everything & will definitely be recommending a stay here to family and friends in the future!
Clare Annette
Wonderful location and Cottage, owners were very helpful and responsive
We had a wonderful stay at Burnt Mill Cottage. The house was spotlessly clean and a perfect space for four adults and four teenagers. It is a fantastic location as a base for walking and exploring the surrounding area. We enjoyed walking along the river into Sedbergh where there are some lovely restaurants, cafes and pubs. David and Andi are fantastic hosts. They made contact before our arrival and were happy to answer questions we had during our stay. I would definitely recommend Burnt Mill Cottage, and would love to return in the future.
Rachel
Absolutely gorgeous cottage. Spacious, comfortable and lots of charm. Would definitely recommend!
Exactly as described, all facilities were excellent. Just prior to our let there was a potential problem, David the owner rang with details and kept me updated with the progress. The problem was resolved but it was nice to have the owner do as David did. We arrived and the house was warm, David came over, welcomed us and took us through how the heating worked and answered any queries we had. When we were leavibg David came firstly to wish us all a safe journey and to make sure we had a pleasant stay which we did All in all a very pleasant and enjoyable experience, hopefully we will be returning in 2025

We enjoyed our stay at Burnt Mill Cottage, it brought back happy childhood for my husband. We know Sedbergh and surrounding very well and was nice to return. The cottage was a good size for a larger party and was value for money.
The property was absolutely perfect for our family plenty of room for all of us and very comfortable. Situated in a perfect area with so much to do around us, we all had an amazing week and enjoyed a lot of local walks. It is also within a short distance to Windermere and other lakes but in a lovely peaceful setting. I would most definitely recommend this property and area to everyone. David was a wonderful host too, giving good advice on places to go and always at hand if needed.

Excellent property and very spacious and comfortable. The garden was lovely. Every you needed for a relaxing comfy holiday. The host lived close by if you needed anything.
