Clover Cottage Reviews

Spacious and well appointed accomodation. The living room and kitchen are great spaces for a large group family and the facilities two bathrooms and the kitchen equipment crockery quite complete, which is often not the case with holiday accomodation.

Lovely Christmas at Clover Cottage. Clean, tidy and well presented. Fantastic location with plenty of great walks and scenery right on the doorstep. Only a 10 minute drive to shops and amenities in Kirkby Stephen. Well kept and secure garden we didnt use unfortunately due to the time of year but our dog very much appreciated it!. Only small niggle was that previous guests hadnt signed out of some apps on the tv and we were not able to sign outlogin ourselves Disney for example which is password protected.

A Beautiful property. Everything was really great The cottage was clean and well presented. 1 sofa requires replacement. But everything else was really good. Amazing views and 12 minute drive from local shop.

Let's start with some positives. Fantastic location. 10 minutes drive to kirkby stephen, and many beautiful walks on your doorstep. However, we encountered quite a few issues during our stay. Firstly, the garden does not look like the pictures advertised. It is overgrown with mouldy furniture and a patch of mud under the table. We didn't sit out at all during our stay and instead went to the local pub to use their beer garden. This was frustrating as we spent money on drinks and food that we wouldn't have ordinarily spent. The pub is called The Black Bull at Nateby and has beautiful views. On arrival, there was weeds all at the front of property and we were welcomed to a lot of flies in the kitchen area. There is obviously an issue with this as I've seen a previous review mention the same problem. The house in general was dirty and needs a deep clean. Not up to our standards and we dont feel it was worth the money we spent. I tried to ring the management companycleaners on the number provided but they didn't answer and advised not to leave a message. We ended up cleaning the place ourselves. I got in touch with Sykes to raise our concerns and then rang the emergency line for the management company due to a leak under the sink in the kitchen, which again, was raised by previous people and hasn't been rectified. We enjoyed our stay due to the surrounding areas, which were beautiful but we couldn't recommend staying here until the issues are resolved.

Wow, the Clover cottage was in a calm, quite and nice environment. Cottage is spacious inside & beautiful. My favourite part of the stay, it's lots of bathing towels for everyone Pros The kitchen sink was flooding water, no warning information or repairs, called the next working day, no response The bin was very dirty, both the kitchen & bathroom bin inside the bin. Lots of flies, they breed somewhere in the kitchen. We had to clean cobwebs, lots of massive cobwebs, the cottage is not under good maintenance pls, I can only recommend if these points are looked into & resolved on the property.
Ritesh
The bedroom next to the bathroom had a creaky bed, so everytime you moved, then bed would make noises. Also, when water is running, you can hear it in the same bedroom, so sadly just didnt get a great sleep. everything else was really good, but this let it down for me
Hi Clover Cottage, The cottage was booked so we could stay with our dog, the cottage is fitted nicely and in a good location. A few things took the shine off what was a good trip to the Dales. There was a notice on the table when we arrived telling us to clean the cottage after our stay due to our dog. The note is not written very nicely and does not read well. What really made this awful was that the cottage was not clean we left the cottage cleaner than when we arrived. Floors and soft furnishing were not clean. The worst being the sofa bed in the lounge that was broken and full of debris and food. For the money we paid this was not worth it at all.
Melony
Lovely stay at clover cottage. Home from home, had everything we needed in the kitchen, showers were great and the hosts supplied very useful information about the local area and things to do. Welcome pack was also a lovely addition. The area is lovely, unfortunately we had a week of rain but that didn't stop us getting out and completing some of the nearby walks. Very peaceful, great if you like the outdoors and close to some lovely villages.
Rachel
Beautiful cottage in a great location. Its got everything you need for a comfortable stay and the showers are excellent! Lovely walks from the front door and only an hour to Keswick. Will definitely be back. Sorry we forgot to sign the visitors book!
Wonderful cottage. Stunning views and lovely decor. Thanks for a great place to stay.
5 Stars ! We had the perfect week at Clover Cottage! The house was beautifully presented and located in the most idyllic spot, the views from the living room were stunning and the walks on the doorstep were spectacular the kids especially enjoyed the stream moments from the back garden were they safely played for hours!. The high end kitchen was well equipped, the bathrooms were brilliant hot powerful showers, the bedrooms were cosy and the beds comfy. The double height living room on the first floor was perfect for both families to spend the evenings in with a good selection of board games. Thank you so much we will be back
Loved the house and facilities, instructions clear and easy to understand. Had a lovely stay in a beautiful part of the country. Couldn't find any matches for the wood burner, and we were only given two half loo rolls, but apart from that all went well. Would definitely recommend and stay again! Thank you!
Elliott
Lovely cottage loads of room for two families. Beds ere very comfortable and everything spotlessly clean. Lovely quiet location with amenities a shot drive away. great value for money
Fantastic cottage in a quiet village very peaceful an ideal location to get away ... Fantastic cottage in a quiet village very peaceful an ideal location to get away from it all the enclosed garden was a bonus for our little dogs there is a lovely walk through the back of the churchyard also another longer walk which is described in the welcome book stunning views all around this area which makes clover cottage the perfect base to explore from its a 1010 from us
A great place to stay for our family. The comments book was really useful especially when looking for places to eat. The only thing we would say was that it mentioned that we had to let you know if we wanted to use the travel cot. My mum rang twice but no one got back to her to let her know that you had got the message so we had to borrow one to take with us in case there wasn't one there however we found one upstairs when we get there. Thanks
This property is absolutely beautiful inside and out, we absolutely loved the location as it is so peaceful. We have an autistic daughter, who loves the outdoors, so this was absolutely perfect for us, as a family and for her , she loved exploring in the garden and the cottage. I would highly recommend.
Samantha
Lovely, homely cottage. Lots of space, warm and comfortable and nicely styled. Great kitchen and bathrooms. Lots of games provided. My son loved the loft room, looking out at night especially. Nice little garden to sit out when the weather is good. In a beautiful area and very peaceful, lovely walks close by and places to visit short drives away. The pub at Nateby is lovely and food gorgeous. People in Outhgill friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again.
Loved our stay at Clover Cottage. Quirky layout but worked great for a family of 6 and a family of 3. Already getting dates together for a stay next year. Everything you needed was available at the cottage and in a great location to get to the dales and the lakes for day trips. Great pub down the road. Would 100 recommend Clove Cottage
Daniel

Zachary
We had a fantastic stay at Clover Cottage, it is very well equipped, spacious, comfortable and warm. We couldnt get mobile phone signal perfect but the included internet was fast and stable if you want to remain connected. A real home from home experience with some lovely walks right from the front door, the cuckoos and woodpeckers in the garden were a real treat. We would happily book again, thank you.
Excellent property and location.
Angela
Absolutely beautifully appointed cottage. There were 5 adults and 3 children on our stay and plenty of room for us all. Kitchen and bathrooms were all new. There is a small garden with table and chairs for the warmer months. Everything in the property was to a high standard and very comfortable.and was lovely and warm. There are some lovely walks around and only a short drive to Kirkby Stephen itself. All in all a fantastic weekend in a beautiful part of the world.
Philippa
A really lovely cottage, nice and cosy with the fire on. The beds were very comfy and everything was clean and well cared for.
We stayed for 2 nights over the New year. Two families of 4. We all had a fantastic time, the cottage was beautiful with everything we needed. Even cooked a large Sunday roast with ease. Location was beautiful, walked to Pendragon Castle which was great. Would definitely recommend and will definitely return.
Deborah
The cottage is lovely, it's spacious and has everything you need to feel at home. There fact it is split over 3 floors made it better for a group of 8 with 4 kids as the kids had plenty of space. The location was excellent nice walks and beautiful scenery. We visited the Forbidden corner and Ehite Scar caves which the kids loved. Kendal and lake windermere were also lovely places for a day out. A beautiful cottage in beautiful surroundings!
Joseph
A beautiful cottage in a stunning setting, our family of 7 had a great 5 night break. First time to this part of the country but certainly not the last.
Louise
A lovely property in a lovely location. Good points 1 excellent sized lounge with comfy sofas 2 good comfortable beds 3 lovely access to the garden 4 lovely village with nice walks from the village itself 5 the large lounge did make it feel like a good family environment Bad points 1 kitchen was tired 2 washing machine and dishwasher werent clear on how to use and seemed to take ages 3 upstairs bathroom didnt have a shower 4 fridge was very small for 8 people 5 dont expect to get things posted back to you, left a big item Oodie in the bedroom, told them exactly where it would be and they said they couldnt find it, either they didnt clean thoroughly after us so missed it or they threw it away despite us trying to contact Sykes the same weekend, they say you have 30 days. Wouldnt have minded paying the charge as it was worth far more than the 15.
Absolutely lovely property set in the most beautiful countryside. Lots of walks for dogs and village and pubs not too far in the car.
Joanne
Fab could have done with the grass being cut in the garden but it was a beautiful cottage and we had a really lovely stay thank you so so much!
A beautiful cottage well equipped clean and comfortable. Fantastic place to stay. Would highly recommend this place.
First class accommodation in a beautiful setting. Even the weather was kind to us it only rained once and that was at night. We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would recommend it without hesitation. We had two young dogs with us who made full use of the small private rear garden. We are not walkers but found plenty of places within driving distance to visit. Good pubs with good fresh, home cooked food
Loved the accommodation but Internet and phone signal were poor
The cottage was a little more remote than we'd expected but the scenery was spectacular. Well equipped, lovely welcome pack & spacious. Wifi was intermittent.
I requested a baby gate for the stairs. Only one was fitted which was useless as it was unsafe and none on the second flight of stairs . This isnt a child friendly place to stay and wouldnt recommend to families with small children. There isnt a phone signal and the WiFi is rubbish.
Melissa
The cottage was lovely and very well equipped, and the setting was stunning, however we were very disappointed with the cleanliness of the cottage. There were cobwebs in every room, especially bad in the kitchen and around the skylights. The blinds in the living room to the double doors were moldy on the back and the beams which can be seen when coming out of the top bedroom were thick with dust. It didn't ruin our holiday but thought it needed to be addressed to avoid potential complaints from other guests. Also as the check in time was moved to 5pm, to enable a deep clean we feel that this hadn't be done.
Robert
Service from Sykes was not very good but the cottage was fine. We found the space to be clean, cozy and had everything we needed. The beds were not the most comfortable but ok. The cottage is in an amazing location and if you like walking, cycling for any outdoor pursuit this is a great location.
