High Torver House, Torver

We all had a fantastic stay at High Torver House, beds were extremely comfortable with good quality linens and furniture. Beautiful garden which we all loved sitting in as we were very lucky to have such good weather. The Wilson Arms is a must for food and the deli is great for sandwiches for days out on the lake. Good walking distance to Coniston and the lake. Would absolutely recommend this for families of all ages, including pets, our girls dogs loved it.

The house was great, beautifully appointed, amazing location, perfect for our needs. The final lane is narrow and a bit intimidating on the first approach, but once you are used to it, that only adds to the charm. Footpaths go literally from the door, even in mixed weather there is loads to do. The house has been very well decorated and looks lovely, and the utility roomarea is perfect for coming in wet from the fells. My only adverse comment is to Sykes, when you dont have contact details for the owner there should be better support. We had a tiny issue but couldnt get it resolved. It didnt harbour holiday at all, but Sykes could improve that aspect of their otherwise very comprehensive offer.

We went as a family with our two children their partners and two grandchildren and the house was just perfectly set out to accommodate us. We all had a lovely comfortable stay the house is beautiful and the surroundings are stunning. The only negatives are the restricted checking in and out times and the en suite being very small would not suit all. We had a wonderful holiday thank you and would not hesitate to rebook and return. Very good value for money.

Lovely House, great views, brilliant access to superb walks from the door, nice local pub a stroll down the hill from he house. Cosy main sitting room, with open fire, lovely kitchen, though the white marble is a little intimidating as it will take stains if you're not careful! Unfortunately one of the rooms wasn't made up, we had asked for all rooms to be ready, we did email Sykes and ask for this to be done on the Monday, this did not happen. The waste bin was full and there was dust under the bedside cabinets. The small log burner in the second sitting room is in dire need of servicing or replacement as the seals are all gone and it smoked very badly. The heating once on manual worked very well, so the fires weren't really needed, more logs and kindling would have been nice though. The gift of prosecco was much appreciated and went very well as a bucks fizz to start the day. Great House, lovely setting, just some minor TLC required!

We had such a lovely stay at High Torver House. Located up a road with grass growing up the middle so feels wonderfully remote and private but close enough to Torver to walk down the footpath to the pub. Great access to lovely walks on the fell and down to Coniston lake. The house itself is wonderfully equipped with everything you could need, beautifully furnished and stunning views. Would lightly recommend.

The property was lovely, fabulous position with amazing views. Very clean & very well equipped house, kitchen & utility room had everything. All rooms were comfortable, and having 2 lounges was great especially having children with us. The ensuite in the annex bedroom was a bit of a tight squeeze though. Only a 5minute walk to the local pub via grassy path from front door. Good place to stay and within easy reach of places.

SykesLakelovers are not so easy to get hold of but we have had many good holudays thtough them so no complaints really. The property we had a fabulous time at High Torver House. It is a beautiful home and garden in a special position, with stunning views, a great atmosphere and a 10min walk to the pub. It has a fantastic family bathroom which 3 bedrooms all need to share, this can be tricky at times. The double with the ensuite is very nice but rather cramped. The kitchen was well equipped and we were grateful for the dishwasher tablets, tea towels, oven gloves, fairy liquid etc. I would recommend this property for a family or close friends. I have already made a complaint but to date have not had the courtesy of an acknowledgment. Despite chasers to Sykes Cottages. The property was filthy with building work dust. No hot water. Noisy boiler keeping people awake at night. No small bin liners. No spare toilet rolls. We left one day early out of three!

Generally, the house was lovely, very comfortable, warm, clean and well decorated. The kitchen was very well equipped. The views are absolutely stunning and the house is very well located for some lovely walks. The house is quite tricky to find down narrow lanes, but very detailed and helpful instructions were sent by the owner which was much appreciated. Parking is tight for three cars as there are gates and pathways that need to be kept free. The house is advertised as pet friendly but there are a number of restrictions on where pets can go and sleep which made it difficult. Other than that it's a great place to stay.

Initially we liked the house its aspect and views were exceptional Subsequently we were disappointed by the inadequacy of cleaning no evidence of the advertised deep cleaning cobwebs and dust in corners, dirt underneath rugs etc No towels in the annexe No full size cafetire apparently two had gone missing. Owner provided one for us. Otherwise kitchen equipment was fully provided No tea towels Some soap powder would be helpful or the spec should advise to bring some Ecofriendly dishwasher tablets etc No cushions for the garden chairs It would have been nice to light the stove in the snug on colder days but there was no cut wood

High Torver is a wonderful property in a beautiful location, situated in a quieter area of the lakes but with fabulous access to some of the areas best features. The views from the house are beautiful with plenty of wild birds to listen to in this quiet secluded space. The Wilsons Arms is a short walk from the property and is highly recommended for food and drink. There are plenty of walks that can be done directly from the house. We had a fantastic stay and would recommend this property!

We enjoyed our stay, the house is spacious, warm and very wellequipped. The beds are really comfortable, the house is generally clean apart from a thick layer of dust on top of the curtains on the main landing. The views are lovely and it is very peaceful. Excellent pub, the Wilsons Arms, within walking distance. However, its an old house and is looking in need of attention in places. There is too much clutter in cupboards, consequently not a lot of storage for own food in kitchen. Some of the wardrobes had so much spare bedding, it was difficult to hang clothes. The annexe in particular suffered from the following problems very little storage space and what little hanging space there was, made difficult by surplus bedding. In the shower room theres an extremely noisy fan which needs replacing and the light pull above the washbasin is broken. The glass shelf over the basin makes the basin almost impossible to use. You need to pay attention when using the toilet, the room is so tiny you risk burning your leg on the radiator. There are missing curtain hooks in this bedroom and in the dining room. Three of the bedrooms were equipped with emergency torches but only one of them worked. It would have been useful to have had spare bin liners and a hand towel in the kitchen. Its worth noting that the lane to the house was being used by a large tractor which in places had churned up the track making it very muddy by the entrance gate.

We had a wonderful week in High Torver House. The house itself is in a beautiful location with stunning views. The beds were comfortable and everyone loved the massive bath in the main bathroom. The kitchen had everything you need in it except oven gloves which was a bit of a nuisance. When we arrived two of the radiators werent working so the smaller bedroom and the lounge were quite cold. We managed to get the radiator in the bedroom working and we lit a fire for the lounge to keep that warm. It was lovely and cosy in the evenings. There are lovely places to eat locally. There is a nice walk down to the Wilson Arms in Torver from the house. The food was delicious there. We would recommend a stay in this house and would love to come again.

We had a lovely stay here, the views from the patio are wonderful, the house is well equipped, everything you need is there, and gives a home from home feeling. There's a convenient track down to the pub & lots of walks on the doorstep. Would definitely recommend.

We had visited tour of the house before and really enjoyed it. However, we were with our two granddaughters, this time we came with three teenage boys who were wellbehaved but found the isolation of Torver boring preferring to be in Coniston village nearer to the water to use the paddleboats. This didnt stop us from enjoying our holiday, but we would not book this particular property for our grandsons but secondly to come as a couple or with our granddaughters.

We had another enjoyable stay here. Its lovely to sit on the patio enjoying the fantastic view and watching all the wildlife in the garden. High Torver House provides a comfortable base for exploring the area.

We had a fantastic time at High Torver and will definitely be back! We loved the complete isolation and peace and quiet, the gorgeous views and the wildlife in the garden. The house is extremely well equipped with a very useful utility and a fabulous family bathroom. The shower ensuite in the annexe is on the bijou side but perfectly functional. Fantastic supply of kitchen utensils and crockery. We loved everything about the place and are missing it already!

As always wonderful stay. Only issue no decorations at Christmas a bit depressing but we did purchase our own tree. A bit of wear and tear in the main bathroom needs TLC. When we arrived bucket on hallway presumably catching rain water. Weve stayed there for 9 years and see standards slipping but a beautiful house and superb time.

We loved staying in such a comfortable and cosy house. We appreciated all the personal effects which made it extremely homely and the tasteful interiors. We all found the beds to be very comfortable and everyone enjoyed using the spacious bathroom and very large bath. The views and setting of the house made it a perfect retreat.

Great property and we had a lovely stay. Very surprised when we got locked out of the living room as the door handle fell off and we had just lit a fire and we phoned the emergency number and no response! Eventually managed to find a spanner and gained access but no follow up from the holiday company! Everything else was lovely apart from the very low water pressure.

We had a wonderful stay at High Torver in September. The house was very comfortable, spacious and wellequipped. It was ideal for our family of 5 adults and a baby. The garden was great to explore and there are gorgeous views from the front of the house. We loved sitting on the patio enjoying the view over the village with the mountains behind. There are walks that can be done straight from the house and it is a short walk along a footpath down to the village pub which is well worth a visit.

We really enjoyed our holiday here last August bank holiday and would definitely go back again. High Torver House was plenty big enough for 6 adults and 2 children and well equipped. The patio at the front is fantastic for eating and sitting out in the evenings. The location is fantastic, with good access to the surrounding area. A very short walk out the front of the house takes you to a pub. For those looking for longer walks, there is a track that leads from the rear up onto the fells and beyond to Coniston Old Man.

Such a beautiful house in a lovely setting. The garden was fantastic for my grandson 3 years old to explore with supervision due to a steep slope in one area a real adventure. The terrace was a great place to be at dawn and dusk, simply to watch the hills opposite. Not to forget the inside full of character, well equipped and comfortable. The local pub and its regular patrons were especially friendly to my sister who has a moderate learning disability. Definitely coming back!!!

High Torver House was delightful really warm, beautifully furnished, had plenty of items in the kitchen like enough glasses, plates etc, lots of parking, and utterly stunning views. The pub is just a short stroll away but you do need to book ahead, and there are fell walks directly outside the back of the property. We will definitely be coming again.

The main bedrooms were spacious and all the beds were very comfortable. One large bath with bath and shower was shared by 5 people. One person used the annex. The en suite shower room was very small and used by one person. The whole house was beautifully furnished, very comfortable and roomy. The kitchen was very well equipped. We all loved the area and although we used the car to visit different places, it was possible to leave the cars and enjoy walks in the locality.

A lovely, comfortable house which was really well equipped. Great views and lovely walks from the doorstep. The bathroom was a big hit with my daughters!

I can not fault any of it, the only thing I wish we could have had a longer stay, High Torver House was a amazing. Sykes cottages are excellent

Fantastic house. Really comfortable and warm. A lovely spot close to The Wilsons arms and Torver Deli to buy fresh eggs, bacon and bread in the morning. The rooms are a great size and the beds are comfortable. Kitchen well stocked. Lots of space for walking boots and coats. Walks and bike rides from the door.

A great cottage and a great base for exploring the lakes
