Orchard House Reviews

Richard
We had a lovely stay, a great place ideally suited to catering for parties of 8. Plenty of space to move around.
Gervaise
Absolutely stunning property with the wow factor included! Beds and furniture comfy. Lots of utensils and top of the range kettle and toaster. As per previous reviews, I personally found the creaky floorboards a problem. If youre not the first to get up in the morning, I suggest taking the upstairs room. Wonderful walks from the door with Ambleside a walk away.
Philip
Lovely house and well equipped. Wonderful garden. Would love to come and stay again. Bins weren't collected on the day in the information folder, nor for the rest of the week. Bin was also 34 full when we arrived so unfortunately we had to leave it somewhat overflowing. Mirror light in ensuite bathroom downstairs flickers a lot.
The negatives the bedrooms are downstairs so if people are walking around upstairs then the floorboards and wooden floors creak very loudly. It would be much better if the property was carpeted. There was no hand soap or welcome pack small gestures that would have been nice especially given how expensive the property is. The positives a large, spacious property with enough room for everyone. Kitchen well equipped. Great views over Ambleside.
We had a very pleasant stay. The location of the house is excellent. One can walk to the town centre in a few minutes, and also walk out of the house onto paths into the surrounding hills. The kitchen is well equipped and large enough for 8 people to eat in. The main living room is a pleasant communal space. It took us some time to work out how to turn the fire on in the living room. And although we thought we'd worked out how to control the central heating, it seemed to revert to 'Auto' which meant that it was cold in the morning downstairs. This could have been our incompetence. Even so, 745 a.m. seems late for the central heating to come. I'd suggest 6 a.m. to make sure the house is comfortable when people get up. Our one criticism is that the house was not well supplied with basic items. Even though we were just staying for one week we had to buy toilet paper, paper towel, dish washing liquid, dishwasher capsules, as well as herbs, spices, sugar, etc. There weren't even enough garbage bags for the week. I don't expect to be provided with a week's supply of coffee for 8 people. But given how much we were paying over 2,500 for one week, I think it's fair to expect these things to be fully provided. Regarding the kitchen, it would be good if there was a wellstocked herb and spice rack, along with things like baking powder, sugar, etc.. It's annoying to have to buy items that on will use very little of, and given the rental fee it seems a bit stingy for these not to be provided. Since we were all coming here from abroad, we couldn't bring such items from home. Other rental places also provide a few teabags and biscuits as a kind of welcome so that you can have a cup of on arrival, which would have been nice.. These points are intended as a suggestions to the owners. To say it again, we had a lovely week here the house is clean, spacious, wellequipped, comfortable, and in a fabulous location.
Carina
Lovely house great location beautiful views nice garden look forward to be there in spring
Rebecca
We had a wonderful week in this fabulous house. The house is so spacious it worked perfectly for our large group. The kitchen area was particularly lovely we could all sit around the table and chat after our long walks. The house is is a great location too.
Gillian
The house was lovely, very high up so the views over the trees and Ambleside to the Lake were beautiful. It was well equipped and the high chair and travel cot were of a very high standard. We were happy that there was a child gate provided which were able to use to keep our little granddaughter safe in the upstairs living rooms thank you. The whole family had a great time and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
Hi, we had a wonderful stay thank you, with 3 generations under one roof it was spacious enough for us all, with lovely views across Ambleside towards Windermere. The children enjoyed stroking the local cat in the garden. We enjoyed a variety of walks, either directly from the cottage or via a short drive including Loughrigg, High Sweden Bridge and Wansfell and swam in Rydal and Grassmere. Just to let you know that the smoke alarm in the Utility room and front twin room need replacing as they beeped, and the TV connection was intermittent at times. The balconies would benefit from some upgraded seating and table, possibly similar to that of the neighbouring balcony we could see. Future guests should note that cars cannot be parked in front of the garage as access is required, and some days there was a lot of activity in and out of the garage, but otherwise it is a very peaceful location. All in all a wonderful stay thank you.
Andrew
The house was extremely spacious and well kitted out. The fixtures and fittings were of very good quality throughout We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The one niggle we had was the squeeky wooden floors throughout. Quiet movement at night was impossible. I do not know the solution to this
Lovely property and equipped with everything we needed. Thank you
Lovely hose in excellent location. It is a bit of a walk up the hill but no problem really. Facilities were excellent Highly recommended
Would benefit from some outsideor balcony seating. Remote control batteries. Lovely house and locationapart from steep climb
Would be good to advertise that it is up a very steep hill as may be important to elderly etc. Beds very comfortable though the bed ends were annoying for tall sons! Very lovely kitchen and sofas very comfortable. Underfloor heating and bathroom radiators had fuse taken out so couldnt dry towels. Overall a beautiful house in a beautiful setting. Would stay again!
Carolyn
Great holiday accommodation. Lovely bathrooms with rain forest showers and posh baths. The bedlinen and towels were laundered to hotel standards, so we all felt very confident about cleanliness. There is lots of cooking equipment, crockery etc so easy to prepare meals. The house is in a good location however, it might be worth pointing out that it is a steep climb back up from Ambleside. It was fine for us, but I think older mobility impaired guests might find it a struggle.
A beautiful house in an excellent location. We have visited this property before and would definitely book again
