Skyfell Reviews

An absolutely beautiful property that set the scene for a perfect week away. The cottage truly does have the wow factor, from the stunning rafters in the high ceilings, the exceptional views, the illuminated wine cellar as soon as you walk in, and the huge rooms! We had a wonderful time away, and Jerry made for an excellent and attentive host. Couldnt fault it if I tried. Thank you for the memories Skyfell, 5 stars! x
Shelley
We had a fantastic holiday at Skyfell a beatiful farmhouse in the most incredible setting. We saw barn owls, curlews, oyster catchers and more and the route around the resevoir is lovely. The house was spotlessly clean and the owner was very friendly and helpful. The hot tub was the cherry on top and went down very well with the kids.
This was our 5th stay, we just love it here. Skyfell is beautifully decorated, its comfortable and has everything you need. You really are secluded here, no noise or light pollution its just wonderful. Im already missing the views and daily walk around the reservoir. Jerry is always helpful, setting up the hotub ready for you to use, and making sure you have plenty of wood for the fires. The welcome basket is always a special treat. I highly recommend this property, we look forward to coming back again soon
Timothy

If you're looking for a taste of tranquillity amongst the beauty of Yorkshire countryside then look no further. Skyfell is not just a property, it is an invitation to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Skyfell comfortably accommodated for all 7 of us, with our dog, relaxing by the Christmas Tree with Netflix on and the fire roaring in the background. It really is what you expect, and nothing less 100 will be returning! Thank you.
Adrian
The property was even better than expected it definitely has the wow factor from the moment you step through the Front door. Each room has its own charm and cosiness, the beds were super comfy and everyone had a great night's sleep, the views from each room overlooked the stunning resavoiur and it's surroundings, the dining table was perfect for our large gathering both for eating and playing games, the lounge was great for cosy nights on the sofas with the open fire watching movies. There was ample wood for the fires and the hot tub, Jerry was extremely helpful throughout, ensuring we had the best time possible. We will definitely look to book again!
Courtney

A lovely getawayfromitall home. A unique location in the moors. The house is beautifully finished with a real homely feel. Log burners, log fires, and a great wood burner hottub. Ideal for our family of seven getaway break. Surrounded by lovely moorland walks and villages.

Lovely property in a stunning location. It was booked as a big special treat for 60th birthday and 16th anniversary so we decided to go LARGE! Decoration was definitely on the Camp side with feather boa lampshades and silver deer skulls but you cant please everyone can you? Compared to other detached cottages and houses we have stayed in Skyfell fell a bit short on items that other properties do supply. I did not specifically request them as assumed they would be there as previously. For example baking trays, small non stick saucepans, salt n pepper, washing detergent and conditioner for clothes washing and a vegetable steamer. I picked this property for its size especially the kitchen as we cook from scratch daily and enjoy this evening ritual. The oven was quite old and the knobs kept falling off. Also worth a mention is that there are no USB charging ports so nowhere to charge mobiles, iPads etc. I suggest clients are advised to bring Power Banks for this. The bedroom we chose had an extremely soft bed but we didnt want to mess up another room so stuck with it. The house was incredibly hot in all rooms except the living room which was freezing so we lit the fire and used a whole dumpy bag of logs. These plus bread, milk and a bottle of Prosecco were nice touches that were provided.

We have just returned from a wonderful week at Skyfell. On arrival the house was welcoming with a nice hamper so we could enjoy a cup of tea .There are some lovely fixtures and fittings, kitchen well equipped. Beds and bedding very comfortable and good quality. Lots of storage space through out. Amazing views and the shared secure courtyard was very handy. Ample logs provided for the log fires.Maintance issues were dealt with promptly by Jerry who was extremely helpful with a wealth of local knowledge . Skyfell is one of our favourite properties and stands out for comfort, cleanliness and being extremely well dressed. We will definitely be returning and would highly recommend Skyfell, you won't be disappointed. Denise, Phil and our Great Dane 'Tia

A Perfect Weekend Getaway! We had a fantastic weekend at this beautiful house. The place was spotlessly clean, very comfortable, beautiful and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The area is stunningpeaceful, scenic, and perfect for unwinding. Whether we were enjoying the views, relaxing indoors, or exploring nearby attractions, everything exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend to anyone looking for a quiet and cozy retreat!
Richard
The property is fabulous, we were lucky to have viewed it previously when we stayed at Snave barn the adjacent property and we decided then we would definitely be back to stay at Skyfell. The views are breathtaking and its such a tranquil place. Our dogs absolutely loved it too. We will be back again and thanks to Jerry who couldnt be more friendly or helpful.
This was our second stay at Skyfell and we all enjoyed it as much as we did before. If anything, we felt more at home this time. We all love the house, hot tub and the setting in this remote part of Yorkshire. It is perfect for a family getaway together. The house itself is clean, beautifully presented and has everything you need, especially a very well equipped kitchen. Finally, Jerry is on hand to help, he had everything ready for our arrival as requested! Thank you Jerry!
We stayed in Skyfell this time around and loved every minute of the holiday. The remoteness of the cottages along with zero light pollution gives the most breath taking sunsets and night sky I have ever seen. We have rebooked again for Christmas for the second year and look forward to our next visit. The kitchens are well equipped and the fire place and log burner are great. Jerry the property manager is always helpful! the cottages are all a perfect escape from the reality of work.
We stayed in Snave Cottage in January and had a wonderful time. So we thought it would be a great idea to book Skyfell for the whole family and spend some quality time with the grandchildren too. Skyfell and its location are amazing. The size of the house was perfect, the kitchen was very well equipped for large families. The grandchildren found some different to do everyday so the electric toys didnt get a look in. Our dogs were also in their element. We all had a wonderful half term holiday. Big thank you for the lovely welcome hamper and Jerry who ensured everything was spot on for our arrival and during the holiday. We will certainly be coming again
Home from home in a beautiful remote place . ... a place you can truly disconnect.
Our second visit to Grimwith Holiday cottages. Firs time was just in Skyfell with 7 of us, this time 11 of us had Skyfell and Snave cottage for New years week. Both are absolutely gorgeous properties in and amazing locations. Jerry was a great help and quickly and promptly helped with any queries. Will definitely visit again!
We absolutely LOVE Skyfell. It's the absolute best cottage on Sykes or anywhere else. It kills me to give a review as I want to keep it to ourselves!!!! Jerry is fantastic, friendly and super helpful. The Yorkshire Dales are amongst the most beautiful places on earth and Skyfell is in one of the most beautiful parts of the Dales. Just awesome.
Andrea
We had an amazing time at Skyfell, the house was absolutely perfect in a great location on the edge of the reservoir. The extra touches, the Christmas tree, decorations, the welcome pack, the free supply of logs made a big difference and very appreciated. The house is equipped to a high standard and the furnishings are very tasteful. There are 2 real fires which was lovely and the place was warm throughout our stay. Thank you to Gerry for his help and guidance, a very friendly man with lots of recommendations on what to do in the area.
Its our 2nd stay here in Skyfell, and it doesnt disappoint. The house is very clean, well equipped and furnished to a high standard, everything has been thought of and more. The beds are super comfy and the welcome basket is always very much appreciated. Skyfell sits on the edge of Grimwith reservoir and theres no noise or light pollution in this area. It was a perfect setting for our Border Collie who is nervous with fireworks over the bonfire period. Jerry the caretaker is on hand if you need anything and makes sure you have plenty of supplys to keep the fires burning inside, and for the Swedish hot tub. We absolutely love our stays here and are always somber on leaving we know we will be back next year and already look forward to our next visit. If you want a peaceful retreat with plenty of walks and wildlife, this is the place to be. Our highest recommendation!
Rebecca
The most wonderful property in a gorgeous setting. We were there for a long weekend for a family celebration. The rooms are all incredible, finished to the best standard, views out all the windows breathtaking! Jerry the host was on hand for anything we needed including trying to help us sort a flat tyre! Cant think of a better place for a wonderful weekend away! Will we be back!
Lauren
The perfect place to escape from everyday life! I knew from photos, that it was going to be picturesque but even then the surroundings were so much more magnificent than I expected. From the drive through the Dales, down the track to Grimwith Houses, looking out of any window of the property, walkingrunning around the reservoir route or driving to any other the little picturesque villages nearby. Its truly breathtaking. The listing doesn't tell you just how peaceful and tranquil the location is, or how many flocks of geese fly over, or the waterfalls and wildlife around the reservoir or even how close you get to the water just on the rocks by the side of the house skimming stones available too. The house is beautiful and upon arrival, seemed to never end. It's a cosy place to go and enjoy doing absolutely nothing. The hottub is an absolute bonus and our children played for hours in it. The copper bath is an added touch of luxury. Jerry is a lovely bloke and happy to talk through the history of the three properties on site, and help with anything else. I could have happily stayed in the secluded bubble for much longer. Thank you Jerry. We will return!
We booked all 3 properties together for a getaway with friends and had the best stay on Grimwith Reservoir. The properties themselves were spotless on arrival, and exactly as described on the listing. Jerry was very helpful and always on hand if we had any questions or wanted advice, and also got the hot tubs nice and hot for our arrival. We had everything we needed already there meaning we only had to bring clothes, food and drink, and the welcome hamper was also a nice touch. The location itself is amazing with a nice walking route around the reservoir and also longer routes to nearby villages where we found some great local pubs, shops and takeaways. This is my second time visiting this property and definitely wont be the last. It really does cater for all and cannot recommend it enough!
Rebecca
We had a lovely stay in this amazing place. Jerry who managed the property gave very clear advice and was on hand if required it wasnt. This property has everything you need for a luxurious stay.
Skyfell is in an absolutely fantastic area, beautiful views from every direction. We had a wonderful family weekend. The house was beautiful and the welcome hamper was one of the best that weve received. The kitchen is very well stocked, plates, glasses, etc. maybe the only thing that could be a little better is the seating area outside but saying that there is enough seats to sit on, just think more could be made of the outside area, but this certainly did not detract from a wonderful stay and we would definitely rebook.
This is our 2nd stay at Skyfell and Im sure it wont be our last. Nestled in the picturesque Yorkshire Dales, this property boasts a serene location overlooking a tranquil reservoir, offering guests a truly idyllic retreat. The stunning natural surroundings and peaceful ambiance make this an exceptional choice for those seeking a restorative This property offers a truly breathtaking setting next to a tranquil reservoir. The property is a charming stone cottage. Inside is a cosy, welcoming atmosphere, with exposed beams and thoughtful modern amenities that make for an incredibly comfortable stay. But the true highlight is the view from nearly every room, you're treated to a panoramic vista of the reservoir and hills beyond, a soothing sight to wake up to each morning. This property is a true gem, offering the perfect blend of rustic charm and serene natural beauty that makes for an idyllic retreat in the Yorkshire Dales. Special thanks to Jerry with his prompt response to our queries.
Richard
What an incredible property! Everything was perfect from being met at the door by the owner to talk us through the woodfired hot tub, to the incredibly generous welcome hamper including Prosecco, from the impeccable cleanliness and decor inside the property, to the stunning views and surrounding area outside, my friends and I were blown away from arrival to departure.
Thank you for such lovely accommodation with everything we need. Jerry was very helpful and answered any question we had. Would definitely recommend.
Matthew
We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely cottage in a great location. Everything was thought of and Hayley and Jerry got back to any questions quickly. As with other reviews be careful with the bumps on the way down to the cottage.
Stacey
Such a beautiful location and a stunning property. Very spacious. Reservoir views from 3 sides of the house. The road coming towards the house is very very bumpy and uneven take it slow! But this was utterly gorgeous
From arrival to the departure, there is nothing I can fault. This was our 2nd time staying here. This time, we hired all 3 houses as a family get together. The welcome packs in each house were amazing, with everything you needed. Jerry was great, calling to check we had all got in ok, and there is we needed anything during our stay. Thankyou again, we will be back soon!
Vaughan-luke
Wow, what a fantastic break in a truly stunning spot! The quality of the property, the incredible location, the warm welcome and wonderful service from host Gerry made for a very relaxing break. As stunning as the location is, the pictures really dont do justice to the interior of the properties. We stayed at Skyfell, but were fortunate to be shown inside the cottage and barn by Gerry. Theyre all fabulously furnished to a very high spec and as theyre on a remote, private peninsular have spectacular views over the reservoir. If peaceful solitude and quiet sanctuary is your thing, then look no further. Our dog Barney would agree too! Thank you so much Gerry! We really couldnt recommend Skyfell and Grimwith Cottages highly enough and will definitely be returning ASAP. VaughanLuke, Julia & family Barney
WOW!!! What a fantastic place to stay, I cant recommend skyfell enough. We was lucky enough to spend new year here and it couldnt of been any better. Jerry was there to meet us to talk us through a few things and leave his number if we needed anything. Top guy couldnt do enough for us. Will definitely be returning if were lucky enough to get booked in
A lovely refurbished farmhouse on the edge of the reservoir. The house was cosy, clean and whilst the beds were bit too soft it was very comfortable. If you are looking for a place to escape from the world then this is it, you really can shut the door, leave the world behind and listen to the bad weather and feel safe and snug. The kitchen is very well stocked with utensils and even cooking equipment you wouldn't've think it would have. A lovely dinning room which can fit about 10 people and a lovely living room with open fire. A very relaxing place, Jerry and Hayley are easily contactable, we did have an issue with the power which wasn't a fault of the owners and it was resolved quickly. A lovely remote, relaxing place and if you like walking then there are some lovely walks. We had a lovely time and would go back.
We stayed in this gorgeous Cottage the first week of December. The house is beautiful, clean and decorated to the highest standard. Its warm, cosy and spacious. We had the best time here at Skyfell it has everything you need and more and the welcome basket full of goodies was received with thanks. The views and walks around the reservoir are stunning and there was so much wildlife in the area owls, pheasants, grouse . Gerry the maintenance guy is around if you have any questions about the local area or history on the property he tops up your wood for the fire burners and keeps the hot tub burning if required. A genuine nice guy who's happy to help with any requests a real asset the properties. Theres no noise or light pollution at Skyfell , and if youre looking for a cottage where you can fully relax and enjoy quality time as a family this is the perfect place. We cant wait to go back. The highest of recommendations!
Nicola
The cottage was absolutely beautiful, even more amazing then the pictures as it was so spacious. It was incredibly clean and although some general wear and tear it was still very well kept. Incredible welcome package on arrival, which was so lovely as I was away for my 30th Birthday. The views were incredible and location couldnt have been any better! The person managing the property, Jerry was really kind ensured to ringtext and offered support if needed. Was an incredible stay, can not recommend enough.
