Penrith 6.3 miles. Set in the quiet rural village of Cliburn, near Penrith, is the delightful holiday home, Rock Cottage. Perfectly situated for friends and families alike, this property boasts stunning countryside views and is well-positioned to explore the Lake District National Park and nearby amenities. Rock Cottage welcomes up to eight guests and is an idyllic rural escape. The ground floor hosts a galley kitchen with electric range cooker, and a living/dining area, where you can catch up with loved ones as you tuck into a home-cooked meal by the woodburning stove. Inside you will also find four bedrooms complete with Smart TVs, including a quaint ground-floor king-size bedroom with woodburning stove, as well as a well-presented double bedroom and two twin bedrooms upstairs, where you can retire after a long day of exploring. Outside, you can make use of the spacious rear garden, where you can soak up the stunning countryside scenery with a morning coffee, overlooking the North Pennines AONB, or take a dip in the private hot tub that rests underneath a tasteful pergola. We had difficulty finding the cottage and had to ring the owner but we were just round the corner. Overall the cottage was comfortable the living room furniture could do with a shampoo. The beds were very comfortable and the hot tub was great The garden was secure for the dog which was good.

We had a lovely week at Rock Cottage. We were very pleased with the accommodation, which was comfortable, clean and as described in the Listing. We enjoyed the hot tub more than we were expecting it was a great way to unwind in conversation at the end of a day out on the fells! The only things to feed back which we consider very minor are that the hand held tin opener did not work we bought a cheap one from the Spar in Appleby and left it at the cottage. Likewise, we could not find salt and pepper other than a handful of the single portion minibags. We bought glass jars of each from the Spar and left them for future occupants. We would certainly recommend Rock Cottage to others. Thank you for having us stay.

Lovely quiet village, fish and chip van on a Wednesday. Ample parking, lovely hot tub, secure garden, overall a good place to stay. What stops it being great is the attention to detail such as garden a bit unkempt gardener didnt come path in garden is uneven and crumbling so not good for a toddler, some garden furniture unusablerotting. Kitchen lacks some basic equipment only 3 bowls no kitchen spray . Rug floors could do with a clean, upstairs floorboards very creaky not great for light sleepers. The bathroom has been redone since the photos listed, quality towels and linens . We enjoyed the cottage overall, thank you.

Wonderful cottage, well placed between the Lakes and the Pennines. The cottage was very tidy, well equipped and has good sized rooms. The welcome pack for our dog was a really nice touch, as was the tea, coffee and milk for ourselves. The gates were even left open so we could drive straight in when we arrived.

Amazing very dog friendly. Perfect location. We were 6 adults with 7 dogs & had more than enough space for everyone. All the beds were super comfy. Facilities were spot on. Hot tub was a perfect touch & much needed after long days of walking. Only 1 negative the shower was blocked when we arrived fortunately we had a plumber amongst us who completely cleaned out the shower which was disgusting, full of old hair & filth. Totally recommend this as a dog friendly stay.

Wonderful property in a great, countryside location, yet only a short drive from Penrith and plenty of local attractions. Plenty of peace and quiet, with lovely neighbouring horses. Owners were extremely responsive to a couple of issues that arose and even left little welcome packs for the dogs, which was very well received.

The cottage is lovely in its self all the bedrooms are spacious and really comfortable The bathrooms were also really well decorated and modern so no issues with the upstairs The living room could do with two new sofas as there was no cushioning in the seats and they are looking old and tatty and not very comfortable to sit on The kitchen could do with some new cutlery as this was really small and there were no wooden spoons, Nonstick pans would also be helpful The hot tub was freezing when we got there and took 2 days to warm up after a phone call and messages to the owner Apart from this it was a nice stay

We had such a fantastic weekend at Rock Cottage! From the moment we arrived, we felt completely relaxed, the cottage is full of charm and was so cozy. We loved spending our evenings by the log burner and relaxing in the hot tub, it was the perfect way to unwind. The setting was so peaceful and beautiful, and we absolutely loved the friendly horse in the field at the end of the garden who came over for apples! Such a lovely, Highly recommend Rock Cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing countryside escape!

Rock cottage was a brilliant find. The cottage was very well presented and welcoming. We were there to celebrate our daughters 40th birthday. Our two labs also came and were very woofed about their welcoming gift. A nice touch . The hot tub was a great success and our grandchildren insisted on feeding Jeff our neighbout the horse with our best apples. A great time away for us all.

Stayed here for a little family get away for a birthday & it was a lovely cottage to stay in. Located in a nice little quiet village & lots of places nearby to go explore, the hot tub was great as well!

We absolutely loved staying at this beautiful cottage everything about our stay was perfect. The large garden was secure so our three dogs could roam whenever they wanted and even meet up with Jeff the horse who comes to the back fence for apples which, he knows, grow on a tree in the garden. My daughter fell in love with him he is a handsome boy . The hot tub was so relaxing especially with a glass of bubbly to hand and there is a nearby beautiful nature reserve,where we walked the dogs every day. The beds are very comfortable and there is Netflix on the TVs. I would highly recommend Rock Cottage and will definitely be back soon

Weve stay in a lot of cottages with the dog and yours was as dog friendly as any we have been in Rooms and beds are great and comfy absolutely no issue, the only little thing that could improve it is that in every other cottage we stayed in they had a few little cupboard essentials like condiments and cooking oil etc, however I may have missed them as kitchen space is limited but they did leave a nice filter coffee machine and coffee, Highly recommend

The property was in a lovely location very quiet and good position for touring round. The only negative comment I have is we could have made use of a washing line as the weather was so sunny and warm would have preferred hanging clothes out rather than using dryer which took forever to dry clothes. It was lovely that we had dog treat bags left such a thoughtful thing to do. Thankyou we had a great holiday with our family and our 4 yr old Grandson loved the village park. Jeff the horse was spoiled with apples and carrots too.

We will be back! We have had a lovely stay at Rock Cottage! Came for a nice, chilled weekend away with friends and Rock Cottage was the perfect place to do just that. Close to local pubs and shops and the area is remote and peaceful. The cottage was extremely clean and tidy and a true home from home feel. Great facilities and hosts were very helpful and contactable with any additional questions we had. We will definitely be back, recommend to all. Beautiful cottage in a beautiful location. Comfortable beds. Amazing log fires. Logs provided by owner to start. Dog proof garden if you haven't got a Cairn. Hot tub was amazing. Great downstairs shower room. Hope we didn't leave too much mess and we will be allowed back.

Very clean, warm and well presented upon arrival. The owner had left some bubbly and dog treats which was appreciated. But having paid 1700 for our 3 night stay at New Year, we were disappointed to have to make a last minute dash into the nearest town to pick up essentials like washing up liquid and kitchen roll. Didnt make sense to find liquid laundry detergent but nothing to wash up with. By New Years Day we had to try and find a store open to buy toilet rolls, dish cloths and tea towels as only 2 of each for a party of 8 during the festive season

Beautiful welcoming cottage in a very, peaceful village, we had a lovely stay. Our girls particularly liked the games box we played Articulate every night! and they enjoyed the horses. The teles in the rooms were well appreciated, super comfy mattresses. Hot tub was fab, especially after a long walkhike. Welcome teas, sugar, milk etc also well received

Lovely cozy cottage, very quiet so nice and relaxing. The cottage is well equipped, comfortable beds, beautiful secure garden which our dogs loved and the hot tub is great. We had lovely days out exploring, going for walks, pub lunches, then spent our evenings in the hot tub and playing games which were provided, lots of fun. Treats were provided for the dogs which was so nice and kind. Tea, coffee and milk were also provided so we could have a drink on arrival which was nice. We had an Asda food delivery arranged for when we arrived, no issues at all. I had messaged the owner a couple of times, just with questions, communication was great. I would highly recommend this cottage for a relaxing break away.

Our family of 6, along with our dog Bronte, had a wonderful stay at Rock Cottage. We had family visiting from Canada and Australia, so it was the perfect opportunity to all spend some quality time together. The cottage was exactly as described, and we were especially impressed by the size of the bedrooms, which were spacious and comfortable for everyone. We thoroughly enjoyed our time here and would highly recommend Rock Cottage for a relaxing family getaway.

Lovely cottage, location was gorgeous really quiet and peaceful. It was a bit out of the way but only 20mins for Penrith which has shops etc. It was such a lovely weekend and I highly recommend Rose cottage. Added bonus was the lovely addition to the bottom of the garden.Jeff & Lonestar

We had a lovely stay at Rock cottage. Shame about the weather but it didn't stop us having the best time. It had everything you needed for a stress free stay with the added bonus of the hot tub. It was so nice to let our dogs roam free in the garden. Jeff the horse would often pop over for a visit, which was lovely. The hosts were there if needed via the phone which we did due to a local power cut and were really helpful. They were even kind enough to post us an item we left at the cottage. Lovely cosy cottage, had all the facilities needed for a comfortable stay. Really enjoyed our evenings by the fire after exploring surrounding areas. Also, this is the best cottage I have visited in terms of welcoming dogs. Towels, bowls, treats, bed, no restrictions other than to keep shedding under control by cleaning. We had a fabulous time at Rock Cottage celebrating my husbands 60th birthday during our stay! The idyllic cottage is in a lovely quiet village and is very private. The owners were very helpful and quick to reply to any queries we had. The kitchen is well equipped providing all the cooking utensils we required during our stay. We ate at a local pub the Cross Keys twice which I would thoroughly recommend. The drive to Ullswater, Derwent Water and Bowness on Windermere was beautiful even if a bit icy! The hot tub was amazing even though it was 7 degrees! As a family ranging in age from 1 to 60 we had great fun and I would thoroughly recommend a stay at Rock Cottage

Enjoyed everything about the cottage, a real cosy place. A couple of things could do with a small upgrade but thats to be expected in an old cottage and adds to the character. Owners very helpful for any needs that we had.

A beautifully furnished, cosy cottage property. The cottage kitchen was well equipped with everything our group needed for a selfcatering minibreak. The property is centrally heated throughout. As ours was an autumnal visit it was great to be able to light a log fire in the evening to add to the overall ambience! Great location, with easy access to, amongst other places, Penrith, Lowther Castle and The Lake District by car. Highly recommend.

Lovely period property with a rustic feel. Travelled with 3 little ones under 3 and 2 German Shepherds but still had plenty of space. Garden was perfect for the dogs and the horses in the field at the end made the toddlers stay. The hot tub was a welcome addition to relax at the end of a tiring day. Would love to return hopefully with some better weather

Lovely Cottage, thank you for everything we had a wonderful time and would def recommend! The only thing I would mention for slight improvement was that could have left more toiletries i.e toilet roll in relation to number of guests staying as we were max capacity guests and we ran out just before we left but other than that all was great & would come again, thank you

Rock Cottage was spotlessly clean, everything was fresh and pristine. We were a group of 4 adults and 4 children. It was perfect for our needs. Nice big living room and plenty of space outside. High chair, stair gate and cot were all ready set up for us on arrival. Would definitely stay again.
