The Old Sheep House Reviews

Shelagh
The Old Sheep House is a fantastic venue, especially for a large group of people. It is luxurious, spacious and very well appointed with everything that you would need and more. It is in a quiet rural setting with lovely views, especially from the hot tub. Jack who owns the property lives close by and very responsive if your have any questions. We were a party of 10 and all of us would highly recommend this property. We look forward to returning.
Michael
Our second time here and again it was fantastic, amazing accommodation!
Anthony
An outstanding property set in an amazing location, no expense spared on the quality of the fixtures and fittings which makes for an excellent time spent at The Old Sheep House. Wont hesitate in booking this accommodation again! Simply stunning. A. Beckett
We really enjoyed our stay here, it is perfect for a large group of people the living space is huge and the kitchen is very well equipped with everything we needed even a wine fridge! Stunning location and the property was very well kept and clean the only negative I would say is the thin walls if some people are awake and chatting in the main living area, it is loud even in the bedrooms furthest away. Apart from this, we can't fault it
The accommodation was fabulous, perfect in every way ! Very highly recommend.
What a fantastic and beautiful area the barn is located in. Jack was on hand for any queries we had over the weekend. The beds were comfy the house was immaculate and the hot tubs very clean. The area is peaceful and we have a fantastic time. We will definitely be returning!!! Thanks Jack for an amazing time!!
Absolutely wonderful stay can't wait to rebook. The owner is really lovely and super helpful. Gorgeous house, so much space and lovely area. Perfect place for a big family trip away. Thank you!
Brilliant place for a family gathering, hot tubs in December whats not to like?
We absolutely loved our stay at The Old Sheep House it was the perfect hen do house! The host was very accommodating, the house is beautiful, the beds were comfy and the location is perfect! It was very good value for money. I would definitely recommend to any large group looking for somewhere to stay near Settle. Thank you!
George
Fantastic stay for 70th birthday celebrations getting all the family under one roof. Jack, the host, was very helpful and friendly and the house was immaculate. Can't wait to go back.
Hannah
Such a gorgeous house in a great setting, perfect as a base for exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Fully equipped with everything you need, great facilities and the hot tubs are an extra bonus. Could not recommend this place more highly its a must visit!
The property was perfect for us. A couple of comments would be towels were too small as bath towels, needed separate towels for hot tubs, which werent completely clean and I think for the money we paid, one toilet roll per bathroom was unreasonable. Otherwise great and Penny? was very nice as we left.
This is a lovely house for a family holiday. Spacious and well equipped with a bit of luxury thrown in. Very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Pleasant enclosed garden with hot tubs and a beautiful location.
Amazing property in an equally amazing setting. The perfect property for a family gathering, with us enjoying exploring the area, along with our base. We have stayed in many large rentals over the years, the old sheep house is definately up there as the best, with its high spec facilities and immaculate presentation. Jack was great and made sure the hot tubs were tendered to daily. We will hopefully see you again soon
Really lovely property, everything we needed for a family of 12. Gorgeous house and great location with a short walk into Settle. Very helpful owner and a fantastic holiday, highly recommended.
We stayed in the Old Sheep House just outside Settle at he end of July 2025 for a weekend. this was a very expensive 3450 short stay for a 50th birthday celebration a group of ladies who enjoy walking, etc. the hot tub was unusable until Saturday, as according to the owner the previous renter had left it in a 'state'. the main bifold entry door was broken, it was flapping in the wind, and only temporary repair by the owner on Saturday evening. yes the building with our property and a group of ladies was left unsecure even when it was fixed it only then closed, it was not locked!. Even I have the number for 2 x 24 lock smith for property repairs, and was shocked that this was obviously not the case with this property, this property door is about 10 yards from a public road. we complained on 8th august, requested compensation, it has taken until 29th August for a response, the owner will not compensate us. i would also say as the organiser of the group that dealing with sykes cottages has been a complete nightmare, they only want WhatsApp messages, constantly replying with 'we are very busy if you still have a query reply 'yes'. this goes on and for days a simple voice call would usually sort out queries straight away, but that is not available. also we were told we would get the owners details for any queries after we had paid in full this was not the case. i would like to know if and when the door was actually repaired properly.

Just returned from the old sheep house. Perfect house, perfect location. Highly recommend!!
Suzanne
This is a lovely property for large groups, fourteen of us covering three generations! It was fully equipped with plenty of china, cooking utensils and cutlery, even down to a slow cooker. A special touch was the hamper left for us! The bedrooms were of a good size with very comfortable beds, as mentioned in a previous review, maybe some mirrors in the bedrooms would be useful, especially for the females in the party! The owner was very pleasant and accommodating with a couple of small niggles in the property quickly resolved for us. A great place for special occasions!
Leighann
Highly recommend this beautiful barn. We had a hen party of 13 and it had everything you could think of and more. Jack was a fantastic host, replied every text, popped across to see if we were all ok and any problems he was straight there. There were 2 hot tubs and a beautiful garden, only thing we could have done with was more seating as only enough for 5. Beautiful you need to book.
Angela
We had a wonderful stay at The Old sheep house 13 adults, 1 toddler and 1 baby. The open space which has the kitchen, dining and social area is absolutely ideal. Wouldnt hesitate in recommending it. We ate in quite a bit and a suggestion would be some casserole dishes. Plenty saucepans and other equipment including a slow cooker but no casserole lasagne type dishes. One other suggestion would be mirrors in the bedrooms upstairs there is one mirror in the hallway for 4 bedrooms there are low down mirrors in the upstairs bathroom but not that you can do hair, makeup etc. Hot tubs were well used during the week. Beds are comfortable and the whole place was very clean. There was a problem with the WiFi which Jack dealt with he was very helpful throughout our stay.
The absolute perfect base for a large group who were mad enough to take on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. We had everything we needed and couldn't believe the 5 quality, even the rain didn't stop us getting in the two hot tubs and the outdoor space. When it did get too much, the inside living area was wonderfully comfortable and it was a great place to all sit and chat. Digby, our 2 year old cockapoo was also made to feel really welcome and he had a wonderful time playing football on the grass with everyone or just chilling out in a sun puddle on the floor. Amazing place! Thanks to our host for looking after us
Louise
Our 2 night stay for 14 people was great and the owner Jack was very accommodating and responsive with messages. As the owner lives close by they checked in regularly and they cleaned the hot tubs and mowed the lawn whilst we were out in the town which was excellent. Would recommend to any large groups, very spacious and modern property!
Hannah
Beautiful accommodation, the photos don't even do it justice! The owners were lovely and very accommodating. Would defo come back
We had a fantastic Easter weekend to celebrate my birthday with all my family. Plenty of space in the house and grounds to enjoy and great to all being able to eat at the large table. Lovely host very attentive to our needs. Would definitely recommend for large parties.
Michael
Amazing property and even better hosting! !
Debbie
What a wonderful place! Luxurious, SO clean, everything was absolutely beautiful! The garden was just lovely, a great place to spend time with all the family! There was a fabulous welcome hamper and very warm welcome! Can definitely recommend and well definitely visit again!
I recently had the pleasure of staying at The Old Sheep House for a special surprise 30th birthday celebration for my partner, and it was nothing short of incredible. From start to finish, Jack, the owner, was fantastic always responsive and helpful with any questions or concerns, making the entire experience seamless. The moment we arrived, the place absolutely blew us away. The openplan living area was a standout, providing the perfect space for our group to relax and celebrate. The property was impeccably clean, beautifully designed, and equipped with everything we could possibly need. The welcome hamper was a thoughtful touch that instantly made us feel at home. One of the highlights was the outdoor space, featuring not one but two private hot tubsperfect for unwinding after a day of exploring the Yorkshire Dales. Soaking in the warm water while taking in the stunning surroundings was an unforgettable experience for all of us. Overall, The Old Sheep House is the perfect blend of luxury, comfort, and breathtaking location. Whether youre planning a family gathering or a special celebration, this place is an ideal choice. I wholeheartedly recommend it and cant wait to return in the future!
Lovely luxury property. Very clean. Equipped with everything we needed. Hamper was a lovely touch. Owner was very friendly and popped past a few times to make sure everything was ok. Loved the tvs in the bathroom. Perfect for a large family get together.
We had such an amazing weekend at the Old Sheep House, it was perfect to bring us all together for a celebration. It would be good to have some hooks in the bedrooms and bathrooms for coats towels etc and also somewhere to hang towels when in the hot tub. The only other thing we felt was missing was some serving dishes and some Pyrex dishes. We did a Sunday roast and had to improvise a little. All very minor things and Id love to return in the future. Thank you for having us!!
Joseph
A fantastic stay and Id highly recommend this to a large group of people for a place to stay. Great facilities, I can only imagine how popular its going to be in summer!
