Beckfoot, Ambleside

A beautiful property! Comfortable and well equipped. Had the pleasure of meeting the owner on new sofa delivery day. We arrived for 4pm but the housekeeping staff were still on site. We sat in the car and waited for them to vacate 20 mins. Generally clean but quite lot of dust under furniture, hence finding a tablet device and a sock. Bathrooms and kitchen were spotless. Outdoor seating was tricky. The slate table and benches, although beautiful addition, got so hot, we were unable to use, as there was no other seating we purchased camping chairs. Also some confusion on bin collection day. Handbook said Wednesday which was crossed through and replaced with Thursday. We put bin out Wednesday, it was placed back behind the gate when we returned. We put it in sight on Thursday and it wasn't emptied. Clearly hadn't been emptied the previous week either. We have had a wonderful week and would return. The couple of points raised were minor but thought they should be mentioned

Great location, plenty of parking, four decent ensuite bedrooms great showers but tiny hand basins. Very spacious living, kitchen diner and plenty of equipment provided. Only slightly let down by the outdoor space as there is no shade. Garden table and seating ideal for a bbq but in the high heat there was no shade and the furniture couldnt be moved. Although there were bifold doors to the garden, it was difficult to ventilate the lounge and some fans would have been useful.

Beckfoot is ideally situated for a holiday in the lakes either for hikers or people wanting to use the buses. The accomodation is great but the twin rooms are a bit small for adults but fine for kids. We needed to ask for an extra set of keys as ourgroup often go off seperately. It would be useful to supply 2 sets from the start. We had an issue with the shower door but the lakelovers maintenance team came within 30 minutes and sorted it out, excellent service.

My family 3 grown up children and two partners and myself have just had a brilliant week at 'Beckside' in Ambleside. Cannot praise the accommodation enough, it is amazing. Everything we could need and beautifully presented. Just one thing not a complaint! Maybe extra toilet rolls could be supplied! The area in the Lakes is great, beautiful scenery and plenty to see. Definitely 5 stars.

Beckfoot is an excellent property. It is spacious, very comfortable and generally very high quality. Having bedrooms all with own bathrooms with good showers is a great feature especially for our party of 5 adults and one child. All bedrooms are a good size with good beds. Kitchen is well equipped with high end Neff appliances. Great location with easy walking to town and the lake. One or two things to be aware of though. Previous reviews have mentioned that there is only one key to the front door. This is very odd for a property capable of accommodating 8 adults who won't always be leaving and returning from a day out at the same time. There is a key to the back doors but they request you do not remove it from the property. Also, when renting through any other self catering agency we have been used to basic items in a welcome pack even if it's only a few tea bags and a pint of milk which is so nice on arrival, especially after a long journey. Clearly with self catering there is no obligation to do this but it has always been a nice touch that makes you feel welcome. Here there are some dishwasher tablets, a washing up sponge and some bin bags not even laundry powder for the washing machine. When we came to barbecue I found the racks to be very dirty and I had to wash them using up the tiny amount of washing up liquid that was there and destroying the washing up sponge. Beckfoot is high end and high price. Never have I rented a property where you have to supply cleaning products and this was doubly irritating in that I only needed more because I had to clean the BBQ, which someone else had left dirty. Also, there are no bbq tools so we had to buy those too. Couldn't use the plastic or wooden kitchen utensils for obvious reasons. So overall a good property and we would use again but just a couple of small things that could be sorted at virtually no cost and would make it really special.

We've stayed at Beckfoot several times and are always happy to return. It's the perfect accommodation for the larger family, wellequipped and perfectly situated for access to the town of Ambleside and the surrounding fells. Windermere is just a short walk away across the park. Lakelovers staff and the owners are always very helpful and easily accessible via the local office.

We all thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Beckfoot, house is all as described. Weather was challenging on the final day with floods all around us and 10 min power cut in the district but we remained comfortable in the house. Our only regret is encountering the Sykes response when one of our party left behind a purse. We have spent 5 days trying to get a response as to whether somebody had either found it or could look for it in a bedroom drawer. No sensible answers and no means of being able to contact the local office. Very frustrating. We now know who not to use for future holidays

Lovely property and with great facilities and very comfortable indeed and great for the less mobile. Minor improvements that could be made 1. A spare front door key! For a property sleeping 8 then it can be expected that there will be different members of the party in and out at different times. 2. A couple of additional chairs outdoors If I have a large group then I would definitely return.

An excellent property that was well equipped, clean, had comfortable beds, and each bedroom had its own ensuite which was brilliant. It was very spacious and I am disabled so it was great because it was all on one level apart from a huge step up into and out of the property, so me and my mum had to have help getting in and out. Parking was excellent and was able to park four cars. In summary a beautiful property and I would definitely recommend it , but a welcome pack of local produce would have made it really special but I was definitely go again thank you.

We had a lovely week in Beckfoot. Being an older group the ensuite bathrooms were ideal although we struggled a bit with such a large step at the front door. Plenty of seating for everyone and the kitchen had everything we needed. There was ample parking for our three cars.

Felt like it needed a deep clean , stayed in May start of the season and place was sparkling. Also issues with smoke doctors, noticed a note from previous renters that they had reported . Guys came quick to fix but every evening the alarm would sound several times even after maintenance visit . Love the cottage and this was third time at the address . It is well stocked , kitchen great just needs that longer service .

Unfortunately I messaged before we started the holiday to ask for there to be a check on the cleanliness of the property as we had seen some negative comments. I had no reply. The were several aspects that we needed to clean ourselves before using items in the kitchen including the cutlery draw, washing machine, utensils and hoover was full and needed emptying. I have photos of you are interested in sharing with the owner. We really liked the property and would be happy to stay again. Shame about the above.

Situated in a quiet culdesac in the edge of Ambleside with ample parking, this is a great property for a multi generational family holiday although front step is quite large for the less mobile considering its a bungalow. Good open living area, very spacious and underfloor heating is very warm, bedrooms are a little cooler. 5 bathrooms is a big bonus and property very comfortable. Disappointed with the cleanliness, had to hoover inches of dust under beds on arrival. Areas that look a little tired but nothing that would deter us from returning again

Great holiday home. We did go to the office to inform that the heating did not seem to be working correctly. Someone came out to look and they thought they had it sorted but no. The heating would come on at around 4 a.m. but was not on during the evening. Had many holiday home with Sykes and before we have always had washing up liquid etc left for our use but none this time. As I said at the start great holiday home

The mattresses in two of the bedrooms need throwing out. They stink!

A good property for a multigenerational group such as ours was. A couple of small issues arose. The cot mattress was not with cot and we had to locate it in the store cupboard and a second set of keys would have been useful. Overall, easy to run, comfortable and a good position just outside the main village

The property was amazing and could not have been more perfect. The location was perfect for a Family getaway with our Mum who has trouble getting about. And she loved everything about it too which is quite unusual!!

Property is excellent but we could not contact anyone on Sunday so we only had tepid water and had to boil water for babies bath Pity as, if we could have spoken to someone, there was an immersion heater but we didnt find it Phone number just had message asking us to send message after logging in to account. I never found how to do that Once sorted we had a delightful stay

Steps at kitchen doors would help for easier access. Second set of keys.to enable group to leave and return at different times.

The cottage is in a great location for access to the lakes. A short walk into the village and amenities. Great space both inside and out,all required facilities and utensils. A modern design throughout. Only issues windows needed a good clean,no games or books for children also bin emptied Wednesday not Thursday as mentioned in book. Would I book this again yes.

Living space is lovely but the remainder of the property is in need of some redecoration and updating. The location is brilliant for exploring and is probably what warrants the high rental price because the standard of the property itself does not in our view. . We were disappointed we had no control over the central heating, but on our last day after maintenance came we were able to establish that ALL the heating controls needed their batteries replacing. Perhaps better routine checks on equipment should be carried out if things like this are happening. Heart of the Lakes staff were very responsive to our contacts and a stuck sink plug was resolved within 24 hours. All in all, we enjoyed our stay but we would not book this property again as we did not feel it was value for money as regards the property itself.

Having stayed in this property last year it was noticeable that the property was overall less clean and some furniture and appliances appeared in need of a deep clean and refresh. Some specifics, The bedding in the room I used although clean was stained in two places and that was disappointing and not the standard I expected The sink in the kitchen had no plug and before it could be used that and a bowl in a cupboard were so dirty they had to be bleached in order to wash things. the top oven in the cooker was not clean and the work tops and back to hob were greasy. The dishwasher and washing machine needed deep cleaning. I had to deal with the filter on the dishwasher and clean the mold from the front of the washing machine door which stained the first set of childs washing that I did. It looked like the main floors had only been swept over and not been properly cleaned for some time which was noticeable as we took a toddler with us I appreciate it was not your responsibility but unfortunately the neighbour to the right side of the property had a dog which they let out every evening from 7 till after 10 pm which barked non stop all evening every evening and at other times as well which made using the back garden unpleasant and kept the child in the family awake. In view of the above this is not a property we will return to.

Absolutely loved Ambleside and house was so close to everything. Super clean and very well equipped. Hope to rent again sometime

Shower in bedroom to left of front door not draining. Bifolds in lounge very difficult to close. Oven seems cooler than temperature indicated. A rug in lounge would be pleasant. Two front door keys needed so party could do things independently.

House very comfortable. Very well equipped. Hairdryer would have been nice. Comfortable garden furniture for relaxing in the sunny garden would have been in keeping with its 5 star listing. Overall clean , however windows on outside needed cleaning. Dust on skirting boards underneath radiators .

Outstanding property very well equipped kitchen and high standard of furnishing inside and out.
