Wetherlam Reviews

Lovely cottage with fabulous views. Found everthing we needed. Very clean , beds comfy, showers good with loads of hot water. Looking forward to a return visit.
Hi lovely stay, with a couple of issues 1 the WiFi was patchy and slow compared to when we stayed their last year. A couple of us had work to do while we were there, and this was a problem this year. 2 when I phoned up to report seeing a mouse in the kitchen, I was told that someone would come around to check it out and set poison and check out the WiFi, but when we returned to the property there was no sign that anyone had been there, and noone contacted us with feedback, which was poor. We spent the rest of our stay having to assume that mice were accessing the kitchen throughout not impressive.
Great views and great location. Generally very well equipped although fixing some minor issues would make it excellent.
This property is in an excellent location for walks from the door and for accessing other parts of the Lakes. The property was beautifully presented although the high ceilings needed cleaning of cobwebs, and the kitchen and utility were well equipped for a large party. Gorgeous views from the house and wildlife in abundance. A really enjoyable stay.
Wonderful accommodation with spectacular views. Lots of space with everything we needed. Log fire was a blessing on the cold evenings. Only problem we had was the electric shower was either freezing or too hot. Would definitely stay again.
Fantastic place to stay lovely, comfortable house warm, plenty of room for everyone, good kitchen. The house looks out over Lake Grasmere the view from the sitting room window seat is just lovely. Good footpaths out onto the fells from the doorstep. We couldn't have asked for a nicer place to stay. Thank you.

We absolutely loved our stay at Wetherlam, we have never stayed at such a well equipped house. The three seating areas one in each level worked well with our party of adults and children. The log fire in the upstairs living room was a particular hit with everyone. Everyone slept well and there were more than enough bathrooms for us all to use. There were also lovely touches such as the towels to dry off our dog hanging ready in the hallway and the shortbread went down a treat after a long drive. The biggest plus for us was the location. We didnt have to use our cars to get anywhere. There are so many walks close by it meant that we could get ready and start right from the front door. We will definitely book Wetherlam again.
Our third time staying here and we love it, plenty of space, very comfortable, warm , log burner is super & my favourite part the views especially from the upstairs lounge. Well equipped kitchen , all youll need for a group of 8 and more . Super walks from the doorstep and only a short wander into Grasmere. Welcome brownies delicious . And great communication with the host . Well be going again !
Catherine
Wetherlam is a spacious property in a stunning setting overlooking Grasmere lake. We found it to be beautifully decorated and very well equipped. Although it is the front section of a large country house, it is very private and benefits from views of Grasmere lake from the upstairs sitting room and the master bedroom. The village is a 15 minute walk downhill uphill coming back!
The location is sensational it's up a long steep slope which provides amazing views over Grasmere and out to the hills on the far side of the lake. It's about a fifteen minute walk down to Grasmere village passing right by Dove Cottage for the Wordsworth fans where there are some great places to eat. We especially liked Mathilde's, a Scandinavian cafe with wonderful and unusual food. The house is roomy and the beds were comfortable. We were there in September as the weather was getting colder, and we found the house on the cool side. The kitchen is very well equipped, though nb there's only a tiny iceboxstyle freezer. The wifi was a bit patchy it didn't seem to like having multiple people on at the same time but we always got on when we needed to. Overall we had a comfortable stay in a wonderful location.
Everything was great, thank you!
Amazing house with stunning views Lots of space. Tricky for guest with mobility issues due to location up steep hill so they needed driving around. But otherwise great
Michael
It would be really great if all holiday cottage owners reverted to Saturday holidays, travelling from the south is an absolute nightmare on Fridays, I will not be doing it again.
Nicola
We had a fab stay at Wetherlam for our party of 7. Beautiful home and it had fantastic views from the 1st floor. The facilitieskitchen had literally everything we needed, was a home from home kitchen. There was an issue with the en suite but this was quickly rectified at the beginning of our week. Would definately recommend and will definately return as we are frequent visitors to the Lakes.
Claire
Very clean and comfortable property in a great location. Directions to the property were excellent and from the moment we arrived we could relax as everything had been thought of. Beds and furniture were extremely comfortable. Showers were amazing. The kitchen had everything you could need. There was a wealth of books, games and dvds. And the views and walks from the property were the icing on the cake. Would not hesitate to stay again.

Gerard
Nice property, lovely and clean. Everything there for your stay. The setup of the property is slightly strange. The main room is on the second floor so at night you are up and down the stairs for drinks etc If they put a smart tv in down stairs lounge would make stay easier. Good accommodation would recommend
Absolutely delightful ! Perfect location and so comfortable and welcoming. Not our first visit and certainly not our last. The property lacks for nothing and we look forward to being back soon. Had the family over this time from Australia who were absolutely blown away ! We appreciate all the little touches and communication with the owner was superb and very considerate.
Amazing stay once again, such a beautiful house. Best views in Grasmere. Everything wonderful. Would be great to have hand towels in the cloakrooms.
Amazing house, breathtaking views, great facilities and very clean.
Sandra
Great for us as a family but we now have an additional family member and really need a property for 9 next time. A shame because we love Wetherlam.

We enjoyed our stay at Wetherlam, it is a lovely property in a great location, and was well suited for our needs. Our party of parents, children in their twenties, grandparent and our dog liked the room and facilities in the house. The owner was especially helpful as storms had affected the wifi, but we coped and were grateful for their checkingin. We would highly recommend Wetherlam for a large group, with its proximity to Grasmere.
Sandra
We had a issue with heating at property unfortunately lake lovers not able to help us . Contacted owner who resolved issue. The property in great position very good facilities and comfortable very enjoyable stay
Another lovely stay at this beautiful holiday home, everything you need for a great holiday in the lakes even when it rains a lot. Our favourite room is the cosy lounge with log burning stove and fabulous views. We will definitely be visiting again.
Christine
Generally cleaner than last year, though shower cleanliness not great. Apart from that, it was all wonderful. Thank you
Thomas
The perfect house it had everything you needed great location and spectacular views absolutely fantastic will be back
Joanna
Lovely property, beautiful views
Beautiful house, great location, fantastic views over Grasmere lake. Very well equipped, everything you could possibly need. Really enjoyed our week & the weather was perfect, which is always a bonus, Thankyou.
Home from Home. Wonderful house and the location is perfect. Thanks for the brownie and milk which was very welcome after a long journey. We will be back to explore some more!
We've always had an extremely positive experience with your company, and this was another fantastic property. The kitchen was fabulous and the house has amazing views.
We stayed at Wetherlam, following a recommendation and despite the Lakes being busy as was Easter, the large accommodation was quiet and beautiful and I can strongly recommend it for a large partywe were eight adults. The facilities were clean and more than adequate. We cooked most days and the kitchen equipment was superb Everything provided, multiple cups, kitchen utensils, large range cooker etc. . As in most accommodation the knives werent very sharp so I always take my sharpener. The beds were extremely comfortable there was plenty of toilets and bathing facilities for eight people. And on top of this there was an excellent games room with yet another TV and table football! This is nothing to take away from the views which were superb over the lake below. We walked each day, despite variable weather direct from the house and had some fantastic views high up on the hills. I recommend Alcock tarn ,then on to Heron Pike if you have the energy. This hike starts just behind the house and has fantastic views over to Windermere and beyond to the sea. The only problem was with one radiator which was fixed the next day, didnt cause this much problem. I cannot recommend the property more strongly.I would definitely return. I do however have a gripe with heart of the lakes as despite taking out cancellation insurance and having to change the date due to one of our party working in the NHS, we were unable to get a rebate on the amount of money originally paid as the week we went was a lot cheaper. My advice would be to get different insurance if at all.
Graham
Lovely property with stunning views of Grasmere. Plenty of living space and a fun week exploring the area with young children and grandparents!
We absolutely loved our stay at Wetherlam. The house is comfortable and spacious. We thought the kitchen was particularly well equipped which we often find is a failing with rental properties. We were also slightly concerned about it being a 'shared' property but it is cleverly laid out so we were almost completely unaware of any other residents staying nearby. The location was perfect and views were stunning. Just a short walk from Grasmere village but direct access to many gorgeous walks straight out of the garden gate. We look forward to returning to the Lake District and will be very tempted to stay at Wetherlam again.
Patricia
Wonderful house with fantastic views, a large house that gave us plenty of space, will definitely book again! A baby gate would have been very useful to keep dogs only in the areas dedicated to them the ground floor but wasnt a problem
Amazing! The views from the house were superb. Very comfortable house.
This is a beautiful property that is in walking distance of Grasmere village. There are lovely views of the lake from both living rooms. It is cosy and very well equiped. We holiday in the Lakes regularly and this is one of the best properties we have stayed in. Very spacious for a large family with three separate living rooms. The property forms part of a large Victorian house which has been divided into separate holiday lets. We stayed over Christmas and were delighted that the house was decorated and had a tree. It was very nice and unusual in our experience to receive an introductory email from the owner.
Beautiful house , thoroughly recommended
